I was originally looking to get super hybrid / PHEV, then realized service cost is much higher than EV service and price wise to buy is almost the same. It would make more sense to me now to get EV as I have huge solar system and 42kw battery. It is a shame the J7 do not come in BEV yet?
Geely EX5 seems to be cheaper than this J7 SHS though and very well spec'd. I think they are selling much more cars than Jaecoo.

As I stated, I am now looking to get EV not hybrid anymore. But Geely in general is selling much more than Jaecoo.
recently I looked at Geely EX5 and Starray EM-i - I came to a different conclusion than yours. I felt service cost difference was minimal between EX5/Starray.
Ok I take your point between EX5 & EM-I service cost, may be I checked service cost of other brands then. But for someone with large solar system and large battery it makes more sense to get BEV cars, they also drive smoothly and no difference in purchase price and either to service as you do not have duplicate drivetrain to maintain. I test drive the EX5 and it was very fast and smooth. I heard that next 2026 model will come with larger battery/longer range, so I thought to wait couple of month to get that. At $41k driveaway price with $2k gift card is bargain price to me.
My apology, I am just sharing my own observation - it was not meant to be critical or anything like that. Before I started looking into it I was also expecting plug-in hybrid to have higher maintenance cost due to the duplicate drivetrain. …just surprised, that's all. I have no idea if that's a Geely anamoly or applicable to other brands at all.
Totally agree it makes more sense to go with a BEV given you've invested in the home solar and battery already.
The Geely EX5 Complete $41k is not driveaway price - more like $44.5k with ORC. The Jaecoo J7 Track PHEV price tag $44k in OP is a driveaway price.
@BlueSkyAPI: I can buy brand new EX5 Complete for $39k driveaway or $41k + free $2k gift card. Dealers pushing hard to sell the complete as Inspire is selling more 9:1 ratio, but the Complete already has plenty of feature so to me it is a better deal than the Inspire and save an extra $6k.
