  • Is GoPro even a thing anymore? Insta360 is the only one worth paying for!

    • I've used a 13 during a recent scuba trip. It worked well.

      • Thanks for the recommendation - I hear a lot regarding overheating and poor quality footage when capturing fast moving footage on cars and bikes ect

        • They are fine for underwater. Camera Hire shops still give them out.

    • I've stuck with Gopro's since the original Hero because they suit what I do more than what the others do… Currently using a 12 as my main cam and an 11 as a backup..

I do desert crossings and a lot of other remote motorbike riding, I record all day, often 7 to 10 days straight, and the Gopros just do it reliably with a good file size with excellent quality footage I can use straight off the camera, I'm not into post-processing what so ever, I just pull the files off the memory cards and cut/join them using LosslessCut, no re-encoding or anything, then upload them, it's all good.. … 4K-50fps = 20gb per hour… (I also do a lot of hiking, boating and such)

The bad: Gopros aren't the best indoors or in low light, they're not suited to webcam use, but as an outdoor action camera they do damn well… Also, I had a 10 that was bricked by a firmware update, damn annoying, I certainly wont do firmware updates in the future after the initial bug-fixes, lesson learned…

At the end of the day it's horses for courses, different cameras are suited to different things, and it's all a trade-off between features and such…

  • Say no to go pro

  • Damn, I didn't think this was going to go below the $497 it went down to earlier.

  • just buy the dji osmo action 5 pro refurb, was 100$ cheaper big sad, but even at 479 (refurb) you get:
    bigger sensor,
    better battery life,
    better low light,
    dual oled screens,
    internal storage,
