I tried this for a month and thought Seats.aero was much better.

Best was pre-covid when reward seats were easy to book & you didn't need any paid tools to try and find a needle in a haystack.

Agreed. Seats.aero might be more expensive but it is a more powerful search tool as it also includes other airline rewards. Sure I might not hold points with other airline rewards programs, but it’s still useful and handy to be able to see what’s available with them.

      Pre-COVID is a half-decade ago…

      • Yes it is. There was also nearly 2 years of that when hardly anyone was travelling.

So it's really only in the last 3 years that the whole points hacking thing has gone to rubbish.

        • Still, years is a very long time on the interweb.

Thanks, I just paid Pro version today with 30% discount $90.99 for one year. Find the return ticket to Singapore and use Velocity points with Singapore Airline.

      • Time wise how far in advanced is the trip booked?

        • +1

I booked the trip on Feb 2026.

I've never heard of this type of service before; it's a fascinating concept. Who is this for, if there's a subscription service that costs $100?

    • +3

People who have accumulated FF points, and don't really know how to use them. You could redeem 200k QFF points and maybe $400 in taxes for return business class flights to Tokyo, which would usually cost ~$8000. The $100 fee is definutely worth it then - the taxes plus the annual fee is still less than an economy fare!

You collect and use points to save money but you are paying for a subscription to be able to use points. Ironic.

    • I don’t think using points saves money in that way.

Booking economy with cash in off peak periods is always going to save more money than buying an economy reward seat.

Using points for business class similarly doesn’t “save” money but gets you access to premium experiences for less than business with cash.
