My wife recently purchased the 15T Pro upgrading from a Samsung S21, shes pretty keen! I'm still using a Samsung S21 Ultra as my daily almost 5 Years later!

Also don't forget a charging adapter is not included, I'm sure a few other members will have alternatives but the official product is the Xiaomi 120W HyperCharge Combo (Type-A)

shes pretty keen!? Meaning she's happy with the phone?

      • Only ordered yesterday, the phone needed to have wireless charging and long battery life, this one ticked those boxes easily!

  • +3

4GB ram in a tablet is e-waste these days

    • iPad Pro 2018 has 4GB, and it still works amazingly well for everything it's designed for.

      • +3

You are comparing a flagship product which cost $1k at launch in 2018 with a $250 Android tablet?

        • +1

Nah, but just weird the way devices with low ram still work well.

          • +1

@ForkSnorter: No Android, Android requires minimum 6gb RAM, the more the better.

          • @ForkSnorter: That only applies to Apple devices lol, no one else can optimise RAM that well

    15T, 15T pro = the "t" stands for "thrifty", and "trimmed-down".

No idea why we don't get the good Xiaomi phones here, e.g. Xiaomi 14, 14 pro, 14 ultra, 15, 15 pro, 15 ultra, 17 pro max.

That tablet is only $248 on amazon. Doesn't sound too good.

    • They sell the 15 but not the Ultra for some weird reason. I hope they bring the 17 Pro and the 17 Ultra this year. If prices well, would sell like crazy.

    • The non-trim down versions will be more expensive (over $2k) and no one will spend that amount over an Iphone/ Samsung in Australia so they don't bother bringing those phones over.

Whereas in China, people there are happy to pay flagship prices for a Xiaomi over an iphone/samsung.

    • Maybe because they don't sell the 17 Pro Max here? After all the marketing they did to position it as better than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, they couldn't even manage a simultaneous global release

  • -2

Thought these were banned from google apps ?

    • +2

No issues with Google, they also recently launched officially in Australia, usually these phones needed to be imported via other websites.

    • +3

      That was Huawei.

    • -1

That's Huawei. Other Chinese OEMs are fine, but need to manually install google apps. Averagetechdad channel on YouTube has videos on how easy it is to do

      • +2

This is global version, Google apps already pre installed

      • +1

All brands other than Huawei either have Google Apps pre-installed (Global Versions or ROMS) or can be easily intalled (Chinese versions). Huawei on the other hand is a mission to install Google services on, requires a bit of fiddling around.

    • That's Huawei. Are you unable to tell Chinese brands apart?

Been using the 15T Pro for about a week now from the Amazon UK deal. Really impressive phone for the money! The camera is super impressive, which was one of my priorities. Just getting used to the OS differences, coming from a Pixel 7.

    • Great that's awesome! have you tried to use the fast charge? I know the website states around 35mins to full from empty! at 90w

      • +1

Yup - I have. It's a bit odd as I have a 100W GAN charger, and can only hit 67W max while the phone is on (and screen off), that's with about a 20% soc. It also drops down to like 15-30W when it's got a decent charge of about 80% or more. Not great tbh, but I rarely need to charge that quickly anyway.

        • I ordered the 120W Charger from the Xiaomi store when me & my wife purchased the 15T Pro, it gave us a discounted price of $27.00 for the charging unit instead of the $100~ price tag, doesn't seem you can get that offer anymore though.

  • What's Xiaomi's FW and security updates are like? I have a mid to high specs Lenovo tablet bought mid year. The only update I got so far Android 14 to 15, I think Google about to release 17 soon, and next to nothing of security updates, and that's with Lenovo. During that time I had security updates from Google once a month and twice every other day with my Pixel!
Shame these companies are so bad with software programming.

  • +1

The 15T will get 4 years os updates and 6 years firmware update.

    • That's decent, here I am still running on the original battery on my Samsung S21 Ultra !

  • Darn. Should have taken their previous deal which is better

If you have a time machine do let us know

  • Was about to buy a 15T Pro but remembered at the last minute that I rely on my S23 Ultra for Samsung tags. Wish there were non phone specific brand tracking tags for Android.

      • +1

Thanks for this. I have a tag on my cat who escapes our backyard a bit and its very helpful to use the "find nearby" function and set off the ringer to find him. He likes to hide in the grass even when I walk by and only jumps up when he knows he has been caught when I set off the ringer.

        • These days tags are pretty cheap, so even if you couldn't get the samsung ones working I'm sure there is alternatives now

  • Just noticed Honor have now arrived in aus too so whilst I was mad keen on the 15T am now also checking out the Honor 400 pro..
