Christmas and Half Price Promo Page

EB Games have added some more board games to their sale. Sorry I don't have time to do a detailed post right now but there are some great prices that look to be ATL, and BGO have not picked up on their prices yet.

Edit: Looks like some games were also added to the 1/2 price list like Ark Nova for $69.50 and Quacks for $44.50, so I'll just have the one link to the promo.

As Alcaro has pointed out, if you have eBay Plus you may be able to get extra discounts on some of these, as well as free postage. I couldn't get REJOY30 to work but it's worth a shot. Looks like you have to spend $150 though.

Edit 2:

EB Games have got an in-store only deal running on the 9th only. Buy 1 get 10% off, 2 get 20% off, 3 get 30% off. Separate deal posted here. I assume it'll work for all board games including discounted games (excluding dice and playing cards). We'll find out tomorrow I guess.

    Cascadia for $36 is excellent

    • Such a fun game. Might buy one as a back up gift for someone

  • +6

Decent price for the Heat board game and one of the expansions. Sadly, they don't have the Heavy Rain expansion as well.

Heat: Pedal to the Metal $77
    Heat: Tunnel Vision Expansion $25

  • +3

Grabbed Ticket to Ride 28.00 (ATL I think) and Catan with the 5-6 player expansion for 79.00

    • Also grabbed Ticket to Ride, good price.

    • US edition?

      • Yep.

      • I purchased the US edition from the previous deal (good for beginners). Prefer the European edition due to slightly more complexity.

Here are some other highly rated games at a good price.

    7 Wonders Duel $23
    Root $57
    Carcassonne $30
    Sky Team $36

    • Thanks!

  • Anybody else have issues with order confirmations not coming through?

Bomb Busters for $40 seems like a good price for a recent award winner.

    • +3

Heard lots of good things about Bomb Busters but I have to stop buying so many games, at least for now, especially if they are readily available at retail.

    • I really don't rate this one, YMMV.

      • I highly rate this one - defusing a bomb together with your friends, deducing which wires to cut, I love the blend of logical deduction and palpable tension and everything else this game brings to the table

  • +3

Nice, now for the hard part, finding some mates to play this with.

    • That is the challenge.

  • +4

Ark Nova for $69.50 is pretty incredible.
Edit: I went to their ebay and threw my REJOY30 onto the pyre with Civolution Lord of the Rings the Trick-taking Game and Quacks of Quedlinburg for 30 off with free shipping. If there's a stack of things mentioned that pique your interest and you have that voucher it becomes a very sweet little deal.

    • +1

Voucher doesn't appear to work on board games

      • +1

Has to be a cart of 150 or more.

        • Hmm, wonder if I have that voucher. , I'll have to see if there is stuff I can throw together…

    • Good call on Ark Nova. I've loved every other highly rated BGG game and I suspect I won't be disappointed.

    • Must be a targeted vocher does not work for me over $150, does not even show up.

  • +4
    • Ah yeah, I saw that, but forgot about it. Thanks!

  • If I'm buying one game for Christmas what would you all recommend?
    Playing with 4 players.
Leaning towards Cascadia, Vantage or Ticket to Ride USA.

    • Depends on the group playing.

I would go with Cascadia though.

      • +1

Bomb Busters was Dice Tower's co-op GotY.

        • Good for two players? Been enjoying Sky Team this year with my partner.

    • Ticket to ride for family/friends new to board game. I love cascadia, very chill and quick game, but not much interactions between players. Haven't play Vantage, it could be a hit or miss depending on groups, one session will takes about two hours at least I think.
I would recommend bomb busters, it is a great cooperative game. It starts easy and slowly adding more challenges to the game. Perfect for 4.

    • Vantage is not recommended at player counts above 3 according to BGG.

    • If playing with casuals / family go ticket to ride every day of the week. Easy to understand gateway game that everyone can enjoy.

  • Is vantage good for 2 players?

    • +1

I imagine it depends on the people playing but it's supposed to be best at 1 or 2 players.

      • Thanks, is it hard to learn?

        • I've never played it but it's weight is around 2 out of 5 so I imagine it should be pretty easy to learn.

You can check out the game here.

Should be lots of review there too.

Edit: 2.3 or so, so it shouldn't be difficult.

    • It’s meant to be great at one or two, but it’s a divisive game, because for many, it’s more like an open ended choose your own adventure experience. Pretty unique and only came out this year, so should be easy to move on if not for you.

7 Wonders Duel for $23 is stunning and an absolute no brainer. Run don't walk for that one.

    • Was able to price match at JB for better pickup for me

  • Hmmm..was looking for Catan, but not on sale :(.

  • The Lord of the Rings Trick Taking Game is the best value here, I was expecting a slightly more flavourful version of The Crew, but it blows that expectation out of the water. A stunningly good game for twenty-odd dollars.

    • +1

Definitely like this better than the crew. $23 is no brainer

      • I quite like the crew, how would you explain why it's even better? More trick variations? Maybe I could print some out and integrate some new cards with the crew!

        • +1

For me the lotr trick taking has a more interesting "campaign"/challenges and the character goals are pretty thematic and fun to play (except Frodo cause no one is excited to play him LOL). While the crew (I played mission deep sea) can be pretty random sometime with the tasks and the story of the "campaign" is meh, I couldn't be bother reading them, still a great game though.

  • +1

Check prices at Zing, too - e.g. Silverfrost $10 cheaper: https://www.zingpopculture.com.au/product/card-board-games/3…

    • Weird, never seen that before. Thanks for that.

    • Unexpected, but good catch. It doesn't even appear in the Christmas sale filter (that I can see). Seems to be the only one that I checked that isn't the same price between Zing and EB.

Wyrmspan $68 on Zing, not available stand alone from EB.

  • Damn I ended up ordering Battle of Hoth and Everdell Silverfrost… unfortunately from EB and not Zing which is odd why they would have different prices.

    • +1

Yeah, sorry about that. I've never seen them have different prices before. They are basically the same store.

      • +1

Nah all good still a decent price anyway

  • +1

Carcassonne never goes on sale for that price, great pick up if you do not have.

    • +1

Pretty sure it was $28 at EB a couple months ago. Great value though.

  • +3

Good price on The Quacks of Quedlinburg Board Game. Game itself is very good once your into it and comes with a lot of content for the price.

    • Agreed.. Quacks is a steal.. very easy games especially for kids

  • Bought Sky Team for $36 and Tag Team for $25. Played a few rounds of Tag Team last night, we thought it was great.

    • -1

@theknight27 Had to do a double take when you said you did a few rounds of tag team.

  • Cracking price for Quacks, that's a great game
