We have a similar silver Mitsubishi model (but in a drawer style layout), that we’ve been using for a few years, it’s a great fridge, highly recommend it and it looks nice too.

FYI - this model isn't made in Japan (I think only the WX series is, which explains the price difference). Just something to be aware of, if that's important to you

Are you aware of any discrepancies in build quality? Do you know if the ME fridges made outside of japan more likely to have a failure rate comparable to the usual Electrolux/Hisense stuff?

      • +2

I haven't seen any stats to indicate those made in Thailand have higher rates of defects compared to those from Japan. That's why i said if it's important to you..some people (myself included) would pay the premium for a Japanese made product

I've got a LX series, also made in Thailand, which has been flawless so far (but also relatively new)

considered a WX because Japanese made, but the price difference didn't justify it

No LCD TV built-in, no deal!

LCD os for poor man, OLED is where its at

    • If a fridge doesnt spam me with ads, break and lock the door when AWS or cloudfront munt up their network, why even bother?

    • What about wi-fi, Bluetooth and all those other extras that fail after about a month after the warranty expires :)

I have a very similar Mitsubishi fridge, been going for years. Best fridge since my 1980's Westinghouse

  • Have had it for years now, one of the best I've ever owned. Works great. Choice recommended it too. And it was the only 4 star fridge in the market at that time.

  • Have had 2 Mitsubishi fridges and both have been amazing.

  • Also have this fridge that replaced my disaster of a Samsung fridge, rate this 10/10

For this price point I would also keep this Panasonic fridge in the shortlist

    Panasonic 618L Prime+ Quad Door Refrigerator NR-XY680LVSA

I bought this few weeks ago and it’s been performing superb. I know it’s not been long but there are many things I like about this fridge already. To list a few:

    1. 4.5 star energy rating. For the month November (2.5 weeks) it’s only used 2.5 kWh electricity. Almost 80% of time daily it’s on energy saving (eco Navi). I have not come across many fridges with 4.5 rating.

    2. Prime fresh is amazing for meal prep and soft freezing meats for up to a week. Allowing me to cook it anytime within that week without the hassle of defrosting it. You can also marinade meat and leave it there and cook as you need.

    3. Prime freeze is also great option for quick freeze or too quickly chill food or drinks (both of which I have used) and I think it’s a great feature to have. For example I cooked white rice for fried rice, make it cool (cooling hot food option) and then cook fried rice within few hours. Without this fridge I would have to cook the rice at least 1 day ahead.

    4. Fruit and veggies keeps fresh longer. Bought almost 2 weeks worth of avocados when Woolies had them for $1 and they are still going good.

    5. The freezer is very generous in size and very usable unlike other freezer in same size. This is achieved by moving the compressor at the top. I think more manufacturers should do this. You can also use prime freezer for as freezer. Prime fresh can also work as soft freezer.

    6. The app is great. You can control all the function such as controlling the temperature of the prime fresh, freezer. You can also energy usage and how many times door is opened in a day. It also shows any error message.

All-in-all I am enjoying this refrigerator very much. It’s been a game changer in meal prepping and keeping the food fresh for longer.

So I would strongly recommend to seriously consider this refrigerator as well.

Powerland has them for $2789 and you might be able to negotiate a little more by calling the store

    • That's a good summary of the new features.
Does the drink dispenser /ice maker need to be plumbed in and where is the fridge made?

      • +1

        Thank you.

Yes it needs to be plumbed. I haven’t connected mine yet. We don’t really drink cold water or use ice often. But I will connect it sooner than later. It has auto ice function. The ice compartment is flexible so you can use the whole compartment just for ice or divide it between ice and ice cream. Which is how I am using mine.

It’s made in Vietnam. I think Panasonic have Japanese made refrigerators too but they don’t sell those here.

    • Powerland is Greater Sydney only.
Would be nice if there was an option for Melbourne.

      • May be you can try to price match with other retailers ?

  • How do you get this price? Mine shows $3063 - even for the white one

    • You will need to build a time machine that can go back in time about 6 days.
