Worth noting the Luxury Escapes limit of $1,500 of gift cards per booking - as mentioned by GCDB.

    • +3

Supposedly redeeming the cards as account credit first bypasses this limit. I believe someone in a prior thread confirmed this workaround.

  • Does this translate into 10% off?

    • Yes it does, returned as $$ off a future shop at Woolies.

    • To some extent it's actually better than 10% off - see this.

  • Maybe it's irrelevant but I bought Ultimate Him GC (for IKEA) on the recent Kmart 20x flybuys promo, and I am still waiting for the bonus points
And I heard Woolies is better on tracking these points

Everyday Rewards program (Woolies being part of it) tracks the points almost instantly, whereas Flybuys sucks as it takes several days and sometimes weeks to credit the points.

      • +2

Everyday Rewards is usually better than Flybuys in terms of how quickly they credit points, but depending on which retailer you purchase gift cards from, it is not always instant. For example:

        • For gift card deals in-store at Woolworths, points should be credited immediately after purchase. It has probably been at least a couple of years since the last deal where points where not immediately credited (and I am struggling to think of which deal was the last one).

        • For gift card deals in-store at BIG W, points should be credited immediately after purchase, but there are occasionally some deals where points were never automatically credited. For example, the last Apple gift card deal at BIG W appeared to award points immediately after purchase, but the same did not happen during the previous deal and it looked like people had to chase Everyday Rewards to get their points.

        • For the only gift card deal in-store at participating Ampol Foodary involving Everyday Rewards, points were never credited immediately and it took a handful of business days for points to automatically show up. This is hardly surprising to me, as I have never had points for any fuel purchase at participating Ampol Foodary credited immediately, and there was one instance where it took nine business days for points from one of my purchases to show up. That is still better than the four weeks it usually takes for bonus Flybuys points to be credited from many non-Coles promotions (including the aforementioned Ultimate gift card offer at Kmart).

  • Is Flight Centre let alone lux. Escape even cheaper than finding them yourself?

    • +2

I've used Luxury Escapes a few times. In general they are more expensive than Expedia etc. The times I've chosen them is because the package had some valuable add-on that neither the hotel or aggregator sites were offering eg dinners at the hotel restaurants, or lounge access.

      • Yes same plus hotel transfers, bottle on arrival, etc.

Can 10% off for Woolworths insurance / mobile customers be used to purchase gift cards?

  • I tried to use Category Choice Grocery for a Lux Escapes gift card and it got declined. Is this standard for Woolies?

    • How much you were trying to charge to your Category Choice Groceries gift card?

      • $500

        • The most likely reason it was declined was due to you exceeding the redemption limit the gift card scheme owner has recently (quietly) implemented when making a purchase at merchants categorised as a supermarket.

There has been discussion on this topic here.

You could contact customer service for Category Choice gift cards and see what they have to say, as they should be able to see decline transactions on their end.

  • Does IKEA gift card expires?

  • Is this the kind of promo where you can actually only get 2 of the Flight Center gift cards per day due to it being linked to your Rewards card?

As opposed to being able to go to different stores and buy 2 from each etc…

      Yes.

Well, you can purchase more than two in the same day and scan the same Everyday Rewards card, but you will actually only earn bonus points on the first two.
