Cap/Item is weird, best to assume it's per order just in case.

  • +8

    Excludes everything

    • +2

Excludes very little, actually… Almost every product exclusion is only excluded because if they allow it to be discounted, they lose the right to sell that company's products.

      • Out of curiosity, How do you know that?

        • +1

I used to work in appliance sales (most of the exclusions are appliance brands). The majority of the exclusions (aside from the obvious such as delivery fees and Gold Service Extras) are agency brands. This means that they have a contractual agreement with retailers. Retailers must not sell their products for lower than they are on their own websites, unless under specific circumstances. This is reinforced by the fact that most, if not all, of these brands require salespeople to go the brand's own purchase fulfillment portal. These include when a brand is running a sale themselves, or the store is provided discontinued stock to sell at a clearance price (also usually set by the manufacturer anyway). I imagine PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo are also this way with their consoles. I know Apple certainly is.

So if I clicked PM on website and the Dyson V8 turned from $360 to $337, do I still get cash back on the $337?

    • +2

Yes. It will initially track at full price, then recalculate in a few days.

    • +1

      Exclusions: Any price beat discount.

I bought a Dyson vaccum Gen5 and paid full listing price w/o price beat just in case no tracking of SB

        • Where has it been confirmed? The t&c clearly says it’s excluded.

            • +1

@io: it tracks means nothing. They can reject it based on the T&C

              • -4

@cyruslol: It tracked and got approved with CashRewards.

                • @io: CR is died :(

                • -1

                  @io: lol wakey wakey

                  • @0031nek: So all these negs just because I mentioned CR? Can’t I get them while they were in business?

Well some ppl wins argument others wins cashback, I am just glad that I fall under the later category. 🤪

        • @dongltron might be worth deleting your comment to avoid any confusion for anyone who doesn't see the reps response.

  • PS5 Controller with the 8% Bonus makes it ATL? $89×0.77 =$68.5

  • I have got some questions
    @gotyourback

    (1) Is Westinghouse Fridge OK for getting cashback?

    (2) If I pay it partially by gift card $300, and partially by bank debit card $500, what would happen?
The total item failed with 0 cashback?
or the $500 paid by bank debit card can still get cashback?

    (3) Gold Service Extra is not valid for cashback, but if I add it in the online order, would that lead fridge's cashback to a failure with $0 back?
The same question is for delivery as well.

    (4) How about I set the fridege order online, and talked with Goodguys offline to add the Gold Service Extra in?
Would that may lead a failure to the order online?

    (5) If I used the Pricecheck button on goodguys, would that lead the order failed to get cashback?

    • +1

I want to be helpful but have you read the exclusions list? That will answer whether the fridge is okay

      5) price beat button is ok but can’t negotiate with them via live chat or phone

      • Appreciate your help.
I do have read the exclusion list, but since the good guys exclusion has been complained a lot by the Oz users, I am not quite confident in the exclusion list.

        • Actually now I’m not even sure about the price beat button, it’s alway been the case regarding the negotiated deals but there’s the term about price beat being excluded there as well

          • @Brick50: Any Price Beat discount amounts or promo code discount amounts that have been applied to the order

Reading this again I think it’s excluding the discount amount not the entire cost of the product pre/post discounts. But still not sure if I was to risk having my cashback declined

  • Thinking about the LG WV5-1208W washer, was lower recently at LG store but you needed an edu or corporate email.

    • It was around $500 a few weeks ago from HN.

      • Yeah, after cashback this comes to $470 I believe and $10 less if price beat button is ok to use

    • I bought LG WV1-1208W from LG education store. Ended up for $390. Price was 539$. 100$ discount for trade-in and 50$ welcome code voucher for registering to the store. This was including delivery, installation and removal of old appliances

WV5-1208W was also 539$ and you can get 100$ trading in education store.

      • Yeah as my first message said you need corporate or edu email address which I don’t have. Because I’m regional also can’t get trade in credit

  • Excludes everything except nothing.

  • Do I have to click through specifically from Westpac lounge to get the 8% bonus using my linked Westpac card or I can just click through the main page of shopback without going through Westpac lounge? Reason is, the Westpac lounge GoodGuys link crashes (Shopback 404 error) and does not go through.

    • link your westpac card into shopback app first. then you can go through either main page or westpac lounge. Even you go through main page. the app still will redirect you to westpac lounge page. you had better use the mobile phone network other than home broadband.

      • Link fails with 404 Error from Westpac lounge but works from Shopback home page. Yes my Westpac is linked already. I am using iPhone 16 Max with block popup and block cross site tracking disabled in Safari. settings I am just afraid if I click through the Shopback homepage, the Westpac bonus won't work.

        • As I said. if shopback app did not redirect you to westpac lounge page. 8% cb would be missed. but you can try use main page to access the good guys website. once you can see the good guys page. plsease check carefully. it should be have a 'card' icon at bottom middle of page(i am use Android device). click that icon. westpac lounge should be pop-up. you will missing the 8% cb if not click through westpac lounge.

          • @kslcom: So I tried that, but I’m also getting the 404 when going through the westpac lounge link. Maybe iPhone problem?

            • @Laced: no luck to you. my orde was tracked via Android device.

              • @kslcom: The westpac part showed up for you as well? So you got TGG cashback + Westpac cashback showing already?

                • @Laced: yea. it working well. alternatively. you can try to download google chrome from app store. then change the default app from safari to chrome on the phone. I wish it would be work for you.

                  • @kslcom: Got it thanks, we’ll see what happens in the morning, see if any reps can help. I can’t seem to cancel the order and do it again

          • @kslcom: Awesome, thanks. I had the card icon.

            • @Dollar Dreamer: Did you manage to get the Westpac CB tracked?

              • @Laced: Not yet. Just the GG cashback. From my Westpac history, I can see Westpac takes 24-48hrs to track after the main cashback tracks. Will update here if I get the Westpac cashback. I also used price beat and GG cashback tracked it at original price but it will probably be adjusted later on.

  • Anyone managed to get cashback to track in desktop browser? The extension stops tracking (goes red) when going to checkout.

    • yep i definitely bought through desktop edge browser in july for about 1800 at the cb rate of 4% at the time, the click tracked immediately and paid out shortly after. it excludes tax portion so 1800/1.1 = 1636.36 is what the rate applied on. i've noticed that behaviour where the extension goes red in cart step with both cr and sb extensions but it has tracked for me

    • Mine tracked within 5min but with a price beat and now being told this will invalidate the purchase???

  • I did price match, added to the cart, and it has tracked. However, the Westpac 8% didn’t seem to track. Did it work for anyone else? My Westpac card is linked and I’ve had it track for other things before.

    • Did you go through the Shopback Homepage link or the dedicated Westpac Lounge link? Westpac tracking is often 24 - 48hrs later.

      • I couldn’t go through the westpac lounge link, so I just went through the normal way (for the good guys)

Thanks for the time info, I’ll keep an eye out 😔, it’s really the extra westpac bit that pushed me over to buy, hope it comes through.

        • 8% cb have to use 'shop now' button through westpac lounge. otherwise no track.

          • @kslcom: can i use apple pay vis ‘shop now' button through westpac lounge?

    • +1

      You won't get Cashback on:
      - Any Price Beat discount amounts or promo code discount amounts that have been applied to the order

Just because it tracks means nothing. They can reject it based on the above. No?

    • Westpac tracking tracks seperately, and takes a bit more time. Give it 48 hours.

  • $383.46 for the Sony MX6….now that's pretty tempting

    • Westpac caps at $30.

    • +1

Wait how did you get to that amount?

  • +1

Breville dual boiler (sea salt)for $1050 is a good price

  • Grabbed an Audio Technica LP70XBT turntable, $326.15 is not bad, didn't want to risk using the price beat for extra $5 off in case haha

    • +1

      How the turntables

      • i….i see what you did there :)

  • Dont forget it doesnt include 10% portion of your item (i.e GST), i shop overseas so often i get to see the gst portion seperate, i forget its included in the price here

  • +1

    Try at your own risk

I used the Westpac bonus on Friday last week and it still hasn't tracked, even though my base bonus from the retailer tracked almost instantly.

    • Then contact them.

  • +2

The conditions excluded price beat so not sure why everyone keep saying price beat will get the cashback ??

    • +3

The wording in the description makes it sounds like the CB won't be applied to just the price beat difference amount.

      • It says "price beat amount" not price beat difference amount.

  • +1

Any Gift Card, Voucher or store credit purchase
Any Gift Card or Voucher redemption

I’m always confused by the wording here, does this mean I can’t purchase gift cards from Macquarie marketplace and use said gifts cards to make a purchase on a product to get cashback?

Can we get a rep to answer some of the questions above too?

  • Price beat button is eligible???

  • +2

The reason I used the the price beat is because of this comment from the rep: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14974232/redir

As well as other anecdotes from similar deals in the past.

That said, I’m not hopeful about the westpac issue I’m having - it should be tracking at the same time as kslcom has been alluding to to me (just based on the past posts again)

    • +2

That post didn’t have the price beat clause though. This one specifically has. So I think unless a rep confirms, I would assume it’s excluded.

    • Westpac typically track seperately.

  • Thanks OP - grabbed a Bosch Series 6 Dishwasher SMS6HCI02A for $1188 - $150 = $1038 pickup. Could have saved another $19 with Price Beat button but didn't want to risk no cashback.
Beats this recent Bing Lee deal by $23.10 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/937914

    • Damn, was looking at this as well - but they've jacked the price back up! Good score!

    • I know GYG said no down below, but price beat button has always been fine for me. Always paid out.

  • the westpac lounge for taht is down? keep getting 404 error

    • same here :(

      • the page before 'shop now' says 'You're ready to roll' though. Not sure in this case can we get the westpac CB if we're not going through the lounge

        • shop now not working,
shop online works but not sure will be tracked or not

  • +1

    A bit risky

  • +2

This is not new. Shopback does dodgy deals where they will decline cashback…so don't fall for price beat words.

Thing I wanted to buy is worth $750 and after price beat it's $670 but they now adding shipping to the cost as it wasn't there before so all in all if I buy and cashback rejected then I end-up paying more for the item.

This is completely dodgy deal basically shopback does not want you to buy using price beat i.e. pay more for the item upfront…and let shopback make money while you get rejected in your cashback.

I will not be buying this dodgy price beat deal…!

    • What's dodgy about this, exactly? The terms are quite clear.

If the price beat is better than the saving provided by ShopBack, then don't use it? Seems quite simple to me

Also, The Good Guys are the ones that set the terms of the deal. They put the price check exclusion there. You do know that TGG is the one paying them, yes?

Nonsense comment by someone who has no idea how any of this works.

      • What nonsense comment by someone who has no idea about the context of the comment in relation to the topic.

        Go read the post above.

You seems to be working for shopback… Mod check the IP of this user !

        • I thought under 16s weren't allowed on social media anymore…

  • +5

@gotyourback hey would really love your input on this thread, main points are the price check/price beat button and the Westpac issue (can confirm that it's not working on desktop nor iOS)

    • +1 waiting to pull the trigger on dyson gen5.

      • +1

        • if you have Amex, you may be better off with calling Dyson and use Amex 6% credit offer.

I just called Dyson and ordered the Gen5outsize for $679 plus 6% back from Amex.

          • @spc12go: How did you get $679?

            • @winaxter: Ring Dyson and ask for the price. As a repeat customer they give you $120 off the price.

    • +2

    • Response below from rep says NO BUENO.

  • How does this work? $150 per item, if i have multiple items in my order does that track separately or do i have to submit multiple orders? Anyone has experience with this?

  • +1

    shopback is dodgy.

  • Anyone have experience using the good guys commercial? Will shopback tracked?

    • The link goes to Good Guys Retail, not commercial so no.

  • Damn!!! bought a Bosch series 6 dishwasher just yday with 5% off TGG GC from my work, paid 1089 after live chat price deal, and all the time wasted doing all that
but just with this cashback could have been 95$ less with current PB price :(

  • +12

Hey everyone just popping in with some updates

Price beat on The Good Guys will invalidate Cashback including using the price beat button on the product page. It counts as a negotiated offer so it won’t qualify.

For the Westpac issue a few of you reported that the click through is landing on a 404 and the bonus isn’t tracking. I’ve flagged this with the team and they’re looking into the redirect now.

Main TGG Cashback should still track fine but the Westpac bonus isnt, so hang tight while we get this sorted.

If you’ve got any examples feel free to DM me and I’ll pass them along too 😊

    • Can u check if purchasing using the TGG business site is eligible for the cashback?

      • For this question no Cashback if you buy through The Good Guys Business site. Cashback only works on the main retail site not the business portal.

    • can you comment on purchasing with gift cards, with that invalidate the cashback?

      • For this one using gift cards will invalidate Cashback. That includes both buying with gift cards and paying partly with gift cards.

And just a quick recap of the big exclusions for TGG so no one gets caught out
        • No negotiated offers (price beat button live chat phone deals etc)
        • No Cashback on brands like Miele ASKO AEG Neff Bertazzoni Loewe Apple etc
        • No Cashback on PS5 Xbox Series X Switch 2
        • No Gift card purchases or gift card redemption
        • No purchases made through The Good Guys app
        • No supplier shipped items from Fisher & Paykel or Smeg

        • This isn't what your terms and conditions say for the offer. They say:

Negotiated offers (for example through live chat and the on the phone/ Deals with a Sales Rep )

Any Price Beat discount amounts or promo code discount amounts that have been applied to the order

Great that you're clarifying it, but there's a bunch of people that have now ordered and used the price beat button shown on the product page because your terms and conditions only mentioned the price beat discount amount. Feels dishonest and misleading.
