Wonder if those of us who took up the recent 50% off deals can qualify for this offer? May have to contact Live chat and see what they can do

    • live chat said "only applicable for new service starting on 2 December 2025."
Not sure if there's any way around it

      • I signed up with Telstra and had to give 30 days notice to super loop so my service doesn’t start until 17th Dec. Might chat with them in the morning

        • +2

It would probably be based on sign up. I'm guessing this is their promo to take over once the 50% off one ended, so highly unlikely they'd give you both. Worth a shot though

        • +1

You likely won’t receive a double dip, as this is a new Christmas promotion. You signed up under the Black Friday deal, and the connection date won’t affect that.

@lufee: Just checked with live chat and they confirmed this “I checked for the offer and it was 100,000 Telstra plus bonus points. The order was placed on 21st November and I just checked now that you will be eligible for the bonus 100,000 Telstra Plus points as long as your order is completed and you are already enrolled for the Telstra plus. The points will be applied within 14 business days after your connection.”

Reference number and chat saved just in case there is a dispute, thanks OP for posting :)

@rysith: nice - hence why one should always sign up with future connection/activation date in 30 days, just in case a better offer becomes available in the meantime - or rather here, combined/stacked ones :)

            • @rysith: Did you get your points ?

              • @ragunarok: Not yet, was advised within 14 days of activation which was the 17th

                • @rysith: OK. I’m still waiting on mine. Chat initially said no but then when I escalated they said the points would be added. Then they said no again in an email …

                  • @ragunarok: Followed them up today, got told no as I signed up too early. I advised I was told that I would receive them per a previous support person and I provided a screenshot of the previous conversation stating this.
The live chat person remained adamant but raised an escalation with the Telstra rewards team who “would follow up within 3-5 business days and have the points allocated”.

                    See what happens…

                      • @tonester: Interesting, no start date listed for the promo despite chat advising 2/12/25.

Will screenshot and use as proof for escalation team

                        Thanks

                    • @rysith: Any updates? Support are saying "too bad, so sad" to me, no matter how hard I try to convince them that the T&C's don't say anything about the order date being the "start date".

                      • @karnage1020: So no response to the escalation, I followed it up and made a bit more noise so now they raised a formal complaint case to allocate points based on the evidence (misinformation from previous support people and from the proof of no start date). Was supposed to be 24-48 hours for a response but now 3-5 business days apparently. So much time spent on this now lol

                        • @rysith: I've asked for my case to be escalated now, so I guess I'm one step behind you.

Fingers crossed they agree that the start date equals the connection date and not the order date.

                          • @karnage1020: So today (5 business days) from raising the formal complaint I received an email stating that they had reviewed by case and have credited the 100,000 points :)

Took a bit of effort, but essentially I stated: I was told by Telstra live chat that I was eligible initially, my activation date was within the period and that there was no start date listed for the promotion.

I had screenshots to prove each of these points, but I believe from talking to some of the support staff that they would be looking to apply it due to miscommunication, etc as an "exception" but I was not eligible for the promo.

      • Ok so last night they said no, because my sign up date was too early
I messaged again and they said the points would be added after nbn starts (my service also doesnt start yet)…

        • Was it because it was just a different agent or did you negotiate?

        • Did you get the points ?

      • live chat said "only applicable for new service starting on 2 December 2025."

where is that in the T&Cs, which seem to have no promotion start date?

        • exactly it doesnt say

    • Spoke on the phone call with them earlier today. They cancelled the Black Friday order as the service hasn't activated yet and placed a new order for this Christmas promo 100,000 Telstra points + $10 off the $129 Ultrafast plan for the first 6 months

      • They cancelled the Black Friday order as the service hasn't activated yet

        and you agreed?

did they notify you before doing so?

        • I scheduled for the service to be activated at a later date but I needed to make some changes. And because the Black Friday promo wasn't available anymore, they offered me the Christmas plus the extra little tip of the iceberg.

I did a bit of calculating and the 100,000 Telstra points alone proved to be a bit better than the $65 x3 of the former offer

  • Don't you need to give 30 days notice before leaving telstra? So what would be the best way to do that if you only wanted to stay with them for 1 month and get this deal?

    • +5

Never had to give any notice period to telstra before.

      • +2

superloop are the only chumps i've encountered that rubbish from

        • Quite a few others enforce this rule, but given how transfer is so simple these days it's dirty tactic I say…

          • +1

@Craze: the info in that thread seems wrong, leaptel say

You can cancel your Leaptel service at any time by contacting our Support Team

            and

When a LeapTel service is cancelled, any amount paid in advance is credited back to your LeapTel account

I can't find any reference to 30 days notice being required.

            • @realaccount627465746: Yeah, Leaptel doesn't require 30 days notice.

The confusion might be from google saying there's a 30 day notice, but if you click the link it's an outdated document from 2019.

  • Price?

  • Just churn out & in if ur nbn, 1 day effort similar to sims now.
When u churn out, the service disconnects like right away and disappears in the telstra app.

  • Since no special deal to watch EPL soccer (Stan Sports vs Optus Sports prior) I am inclined to jump back to Telstra.

  • Does anyone know how long it takes for the points to reflect? Also does Telstra use a Static I.P or cgnat these days?

  • +2

If you’re a Telstra user. Get as a 2nd line. Tell them you need separate line for work from home. Once installed and running cancel the old connection. I’ve done it.

    • Only if you're on FTTP.

  • I'm just trying to work out if this is worthwhile or not. Would you actually use this for a month or just a day or so to acquire the points?

Cheapest nbn service seems to be $85 for 25/4 speeds. I'm not sure I could tolerate that for a month.

There's also a similar promo where you also get 100,000 points on new phones on a repayment plan. Not too familiar with Telstra's points and what 100,000 is worth. Cheapest phone on a repayment plan is $78.96.

    • Have you ever signed up before for points? Any idea how long it takes for the points to be in your account?

      • I was on the phone with them earlier today, they said about 10-14 days for the points to be loaded into the account.

    • if you have FTTP with available ports you could do this on a spare port and not interrupt your real service.

      • +2

Is the value of the points worth $85 though

        • You can get roughly 160 on Amazon prime gift cards but I just don't know if I can be bothered with the hassle of joining Telstra

  • can someone please confirm when the points are paid out.

    • +1

Live chat told me within 14 business days of connection

  • Telstra plans are so much more expensive than those of other ISP. Could someone calculate why its cost would be better than those of other ISP such as Superloop, Exetel, ArcTel or even Amaysim? Don't tell me Telstra provides a better service.

  • any other decent ways to spend 100k points that isn't amazon prime?

  • +2

i am a current telstra nbn plan holder - got them on live chat, complained about the price and said i would cancel, credited me with 30,000 telstra points

    • +1

Wow just like that? Are you going to cancel anyway? lol

      • +1

yeah most likely go with the origin deal lol

  • thats $160 worth of giftcards.
500/50 is going to cost me $99 for the month, that's steep but only ~$30-$40 better than what I can have churning elsewhere. for one month it's dwarfed by the value of the points.

So this is just an easy $100 from telstra for a churn cycle. someone would need to convince me I'm going to get blacklisted churning so much or something to make me not take this.

Only question is how soon I can churn out. I'll probably just stay the whole month, but I'm guessing I could churn out mid month if I wanted once the points land.

    • If you churn out mid month, do you get refunded pro rata? So it would just cost you half of the monthly cost?

  • Has anyone ever signed up during Christmas? Or does nbn not process transfers on FTTP during Christmas/new year's period?

    • Might be risky as officially public holidays, maybe try Christmas Eve or 27th to be on the safe side?

      • I should be fine if I do it on Monday the 22nd?

        • I'd think so since it's not a public holiday!
