            @payless69: Username checks out 😂

            • @dealt: Did rtw with Swiss.
back in 2019 it was like $1199 with lots of expensive options but distance wise gap free. No Africa!

I found SYD Houston @ 17.5h B787 flight less stressful than sitting 9 hours on the bottom back of an A380.

Sometimes Finnair is even cheaper but you must go via Helsinki, love it or hate it.

  • +12

Any of these RTW trips go anywhere in Americas other the the US?

    • +11

Most likely not. The reason this exists is the Singapore Airlines fly NRT-LAX and JFK-FRA, which are two of the only freedom flights that SQ fly.

    • +1

Yeah, it's only an 'incredible' fare if you don't mind spending extended time in a country openly hostile to foreigners and actively looking to detain/deport as many as possible.

      • +3

I don’t think it’s bad everywhere in USA… there are still good places there to visit, can’t impune a whole country coz of the bad news

      • +6

You are fear-mongering. None of their rhetoric is anti-tourist, that's European places such as Barcelona.

        • Barcelona does happen to be on this itinerary, however.

Strange that whenever this deal pops up one can only fly back to Australia from Barcelona rather than any of the other dozen or so cities served by the airline.

        • Given US citizens are routinely being snatched off the streets by ICE without a warrant, you'd have to have rocks in your head to think you're better off as a foreigner, especially anyone who isn't white.

      • The US was built on stolen land with cheap immigrants. It just happened earlier than Australia.
Now it has become totally random at law enforcement because the damage was done over time.
But this applies to most of the Americas just humans abusing power to the max. Check out France, a place of more randoms and nobody has a solution.

        • The US was built on stolen land

Is that what you heard on TikTok and automatically believed?

A lot of US land was purchased or traded from local tribes, like Manhattan Island which was bought and paid for. Less Tiktok and more History books would help you a lot.
Just wait til you read the bit about Native American tribes raping and slaughtering their neighbours and stealing their 'land'…

Now it has become totally random at law enforcement because

Because the Left refuse to enforce the law. There is an easy solution to that, just start enforcing the law again.

          and nobody has a solution.

Trump has a solution and the Left are losing their shit over it. Who knew that simply enforcing the law would reduce crime?

          • -3

@1st-Amendment: I mostly agree with you. It is ALSO the left who is currently savaging this wonderful country.

The last US president who cared about the world was good ol Ronnie, starting as a leftie he realised how corrupt they were.

Donald managed to come in just 5 before twelve. Financially the US is sort of back on track.
It is looking also bad for the UK, Germany and France. Useless lefties having decimated them places.

      • -3

openly hostile to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS and actively looking to detain/deport as many as possible.

        FTFY.

You're clearly a victim of American Left wing MSM propaganda machine. Every country deports illegal immigrants, including Australia. Why do you think the US should be any different?

      • They’re exercising their immigration policies, just like we do here and many other countries.

        https://www.instagram.com/icegov?igsh=MWE5c3N5c3ZqaXloeA==

It’s not only non white people that are deported.

They are deported for good reason.

        Stop spreading misinformation.

  • I thought JFK-FRA was being discontinued? Or was it the a380 that was being taken off that segment?

    • Flew it earlier this year and it wasn't an A380.

    • SQ did discontinue MAN - IAH earlier this year. And yes they took the A380 off. I was on the 77W back in March.

    • I flew this last month (SQ25) was B777-300 all the way to SIN

  • +29

    Can we skip the USA?

    • +22

Yeahhhhh that's my question haha. Not going anywhere near the US right now!

        • +12

I can only assume these are all political statements in which case far left ozbargain movement makes sense

          • +15

@botchie: It's not even about politics at this point.

It's about rage heads with easy access to guns.

It's about my Australian born fluent English speaking wife with a latina last name potentially scrutinised for no reason at customs etc. (my last name is quite white and we didn't want to bother with the whole taking name thing).

It's just about being safe. Everything else aside. I just genuinely don't think we'd feel safe in the US. That's all it is for us.

            • -7

@ReaperX22: Sometimes people believe the media news haha

            • -8

@ReaperX22: That's like thinking Australia is a different place depending on which party wins , get your head out of a gutter mate

            • +6

@ReaperX22: Not sure why you're downvoted.

America has severely gone downhill and definitely wouldn't be on any of my travel lists. It's a beautiful country with lots of great places so it's a shame. But if you're anti Trump in any way you have to be careful entering and do a bit of research on where it's safe as gun violence is a real risk.

            • @ReaperX22: Over half the world has grave safety issues. The US is still above average for the average Joe Blow.

              • @payless69: I mean. Sure. But the deal isn't for those other countries haha.

                • @ReaperX22: The US has a policy where anybody can leave ANYTIME! Illegals get a grand to self deport. But ICE agents cost 100 times more due to them "Karens" who do want cheap farm workers and cheap uber drivers.
Getting into LAX and leave from JFK raises questions: How do you pay to get over there?

            • -1

              @ReaperX22:

potentially scrutinised for no reason at customs etc

Lol you're buying into the media fear-mongering too easily. I have the most English name in the world and I still get scrutinised at border controls in every country I've ever been. Because that is the job of border control, to scrutinise entrants into their countries.

I just genuinely don't think we'd feel safe in the US.

Because the media told you to be afraid. Maybe stop paying so much attention to that and you'll find you are a happier person.

        • +4

          How do those boots taste?

        • Why don't you go back home then?

    • -2

In my lifetime I would skip any but USA

  • +6

I paid this with the lesser Lufthansa in covid when we could leave.

Cost of living must be hitting the airlines. I would jump at this if my life hadnt changed in the last 5 years. What an itinerary

  • +3

Leaving today on this deal over Xmas. It was a bit more expensive over the holiday period but around the same price as the cheapest simple return flight.

  • +3

No credit to the original poster?

  • holy was it always this cheap? I don't have the money for it but it seems too good to be true

    • +2

It's a good price. But you also need to factor in the other flights
"Make your own way to New York then fly to Frankfurt, Make your own way to Barcelona"

      • +5

Did a dummy booking in February and you can get LAX to NYC with a checked bag for about $200 AUD on the likes of Jetblue and Delta. For the European leg KLM with baggage was $200ish too, but in Europe you have the option of the train, so you can slowly travel to Frankfurt.

Also to note who have the cash, Premium Economy tickets on some flights were in the $4,000 range, which is just over x2. Typically they are x2.5-x3 the price of Economy.

  • Why is Perth more expensive than the other departure cities? The flight to and from Singapore is a much shorter distance from Perth.

    • +4

Sing air is always full out of Perth hardly see deals or award space

  • Does not feel like round the world if middle east and Africa not included.

    • +5

      Around the Western World

      • +1

Ah yes, the Western country of Japan.

        • +6

Lol, yes, obviously. Member of the G7, highest foreign holder of US debt, US is Japan's biggest trading partner. Japan has a massive trade surplus with US but then recycles those USD back to the US by purchasing debt securities - a key feature of membership in the Western empire.

          • @DaiShan:

a key feature of membership in the Western empire.

            Er what?

The only feature of 'tHe WeStErN eMpIrE' is to come from the West, ie Western Europe. The US, Canada, Australia and NZ are part of this because they are all part of or formerly were part of the British Empire. There no magic to this formula.

Stay in School kids… Preferably not a CCP State run propaganda school…

            • @1st-Amendment: Gosh it must be blissful to be this naive.

If you don't think the American Empire is the dominant power structure in the world today then I have some beans to sell you.

              • @DaiShan:

Gosh it must be blissful to be this naive.

It must be frustrating being so ignorant.

If you don't think the American Empire…

Wait so it's not 'tHe WeStErN eMpIrE' now, it's tHe AmErIcAn EmPiRe' now? Lol…

is the dominant power structure in the world today then…

I agree that the US is the most powerful country in the world, but that is not what you said. Japan has never been 'The West' no matter how many cartoons you watch.

Is this what they teach you in China? By your logic, the fact the China adopted Communism, a political idea from Western Europe also makes it part of 'tHe WeStErN eMpIrE'?

Stop smoking those beans man, they are rotting your brain…

                • @1st-Amendment: You sound like a boomer but write like you're 12 (camel caps? Seriously cringe). I suggest you spend less time on Reddit and 4chan and more time with friends and family, if you have any.

This will be my last response as I have better things to do.

But just quickly, key features of American hegemony is vassal states like Australia, UK, NATO etc. The other fundamental element of the Empire is their total control over international finance, where the USD and American treasury securities entrench the economic world order. That's where countries like Japan serve, through things like trade and purchasing US debt. It makes the country a member of the West more than it has anything to do with Asia economically.

Finally, you do realise how pathetic it is to have your identity as an Aussie aligned to American issues, right? We live in Australia buddy, we have no first amendment.

                  • @DaiShan:

                    camel caps? Seriously cringe

So you don't know what CamelCase is either. There is a clear pattern developing here…

                    American hegemony

So first it was 'tHe WeStErN eMpIrE', then you changed to 'tHe AmErIcAn EmPiRe', now you are changing your story again to 'aMeRiCaN hEgEmOny'. Is this comedy hour?

It makes the country a member of the West more than it has anything to do with Asia economically.

Sure bro, you keep telling yourself that. Is this what your CCP education taught you?
Let me help you out here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_world See if you can find Japan on the map…

you do realise how pathetic it is to have your identity as an Aussie aligned to American issues, right?

You literally just spent a whole thread talking about 'aMeRiCaN hEgEmOny'. You were the one that brought it up!

Somewhere out there there is a clown car missing a passenger…

    • -1

SinAir wants paved runways not sure whats in Africa?

      • SQ does fly to Cape Town and Johannesburg……..

        • -2

Who wants to visit a failed state.

  • How does it works. Say I live in Sydney, where it goes to and isit round back to Sydney? B suppose I want to go to free states in USA how it works? How about dates if I want to travel free states in USA

    • Yes you start and end in SYD. You book the domestic flights in US separately, not as part of the SQ itinerary. Just make sure you make your way to JFK before your JFK - FRA flight.

      • Thank you what’s fra flight sorry

        • New York -> Frankfurt

          • @Kaimei173: Ah ok thanks and then from Frankfurt to Sydney? Or I should then fly from Frankfurt to Barcelona to get the return flight to Sydney?

            • @imYourBossFenny: I think with this deal you'll have to make your way to Barcelona, then it's Barcelona - Singapore - Sydney.

In saying that, you could try going out via Frankfurt without the need for the Barcelona sector. Might be a bit pricier but you save a rail/bus/flight sector to Barcelona.

          • @Kaimei173: Thanks got that… btw any cheap and decent stay not dorms but hotels and how to travel in Europe cheap like London etc through this trip… any guidance, ? First time traveller

  • Any deals in business class ?

    • +6

I did it in premium economy in Feb this year. Was $3300.

      • +1

        great value

        • Yep! Given the year before I went to Athens with Emirates for nearly the same cost.

          • @Seaword: How was premium economy? Seems to be almost as expensive as business class, but space/comfort wise looks to me closer to economy than business? I’ve struggled to see the value, but haven’t tried it

            • @Points747: On a normal ticket it's hard to justify the upgrade, but for me who always flys economy, the value proposition on this RTW is amazing. Lots of miles for not much more than economy.

I liked premium, the biggest bonus for me was only having two seats, just my wife and I.

      • +1

Did u also book through sq directly or via this website ?

      • Was that off ozb? Or did you find that yourself

        • +1

It was OZB, but it was like this one, economy, but for essentially double, you could get prem economy.

  • +1

Very tempting. Has anyone done this with a 4 year old, would love to know how it went logistics wise.

    • +1

that'll be a trip although jet lag would be an issue. if your 4 year old is toilet train then that would help else just bring sleeping nappies and then you just have to take a day upon arrival city to adapt to time zone?

Depending on your 4yo, you are very brave!!

I couldn’t imagine doing this with my 5yo. She doesn’t handle travel well. Overseas travel will have to wait a few years

We did a slightly modified version of this trip last year with kids 4, 8 & 10. It was really not that hard for us, but I guess it depends on your kids. The 4 year old was able to sleep cross ways on the economy seats with her head on a parents lap, so she was probably the best rested out of all of us.

  • when we gonna get some cheap flights to Europe

    • Check out EVA Air. Outside peak dates they are super cheap. Paid $1.1k BNE to MXP return in May.

Major bummer circling the globe heading east rather than west though.. the jetlag going east is horrendous and lasts for days each time zone, so you'd be wiped out for a lot of the trip. But this'd be a great deal if you can reverse the order and head west, where jetlag is substantially minimised each time zone?

does anyone actually wana go to usa? can we swap out usa for something else

    • Nope, that is the catch. America is subsidising airlines with big $$$ rebates to offer cheap flights so Trump can claim "See look our tourism sector is not down +20%, it's now up 5%!", must be costing them billions.

Japan is doing a similar thing after killing their tourism sector by taking too long to open up after covid. Humming along now tho.

who watched the channel 9 piece last week about the aussie bloke (Caucasian, not that it matters) who went there and had his phone checked at the airport, he had liked a few anti trump tweets, he was asked to take a flight back home lol

who watched the channel 9 piece

Oh man… And you're saying this with a straight face?

he had liked a few anti trump tweets, he was asked to take a flight back home

That never happened. But it's hilarious to see how easily some people believe the fairy tales.

This is the most batshit crazy TDS thing I've heard in a while. Seriously, how many fruit loops did you have to eat to believe in such crazy conspiracy theories?

        must be costing them billions.

Indeed. It's either that or your TDS is so extreme that you simply can't accept that most people aren't as crazy as you and don't swallow media fear-mongering as easily as you do.

why would it be out of the ordinary for them to check someone’s phone? you are saying a lot without saying anything, your just saying I shouldn’t believe what the news says, I don’t believe everything the news says, but if the news says the sky is blue, I would believe it, same way when they do a piece about USA border patrol checking your phone I believe it, coz it’s a fact, you sound like a neckbeard who thinks he has caught one in the net, you sound like a redneck middle aged Walmart shopper from the backarse of the south who is acting like he just heard someone say the earth was flat. You sound like a MAGA supporter who screams migrants stole our JABS while he gets government assistance. I can go on and on..

            @Roe Jogan:

when they do a piece about USA border patrol checking your phone I believe it, coz it’s a fact,

            Oh dear…

Feel free to send through a link to these 'facts' and I'll happily show you how easily you've been lied to.

            You sound like a…

Of course, because the man on the news told you so and you believed it. I've never met someone so proud of being so gullible.

Send your link, and get ready for a wake up call.

@1st-Amendment: are you blind the youtube link is above, its not a news piece its a podcast of an aussie guy who went to the usa and is giving a first hand story, he was later brought on nine news with his story

              • -3

                @Roe Jogan:

its not a news piece its a podcast

Even better, your facts come from 'a podcast'. A person said it on the Internet so it must be true lol…

Now that you have provided a link, are you ready to have your fake news world shattered?

""The individual in question was denied entry because he gave false information on his [Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) application] regarding drug use," a DHS spokesperson said on Wednesday."

                https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06-18/us-denies-detaining-a…
                https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/06/30/dhs-debunks-fake-news-me…

Gullibility can be cured, you just have to learn to not believe everything you hear on the internet.

@1st-Amendment: aint the question.. your quite thick aren't ya? https://www.cbp.gov/travel/cbp-search-authority/border-searc…
all im saying is they can check your phone for any reason if they choose to. here is the law. thats all i was getting at. regardless of the authenticity of that guys story. thats whats so disturbing. dictatorships do that.

anyways usa is a shithole and anyone who actually wants to go there by choice got sold a lie. its a total and utter shithole

                  • -3

                    @Roe Jogan:

all im saying is they can check your phone for any reason if they choose to

Well you're not. You literally said that the US is deporting people for anti-Trump tweets when there have been no verifiable cases of that ever happening. Not once. ie "he had liked a few anti trump tweets, he was asked to take a flight back home"
Your whole story hinges on a guy that was actually deported for drug use, then lied about it afterwards to try and gain fame from fellow TDS sufferers, and like a gullible media consumer you bought into the lie.

thats whats so disturbing. dictatorships do that.

Australia has been doing that for years, along with pretty much every other country, NZ, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands…
Border Control control borders. Why is this news to you?

Stop believing everything you hear on 'tHe NeWs'. It's junk designed to make weak minds angry.
