Uses the Optus network, possibly shared with Vodafone/TPG in regional areas as well?

Could be useful for anyone looking for a low cost, low data eSIM for their smartwatch.

    • I wonder if this work in a galaxy watch using the hacky way that folks install esims

  • +3

Crazytel operates on the reliable Optus 4G network, giving you the same great coverage you're used to. You can view the full coverage map here. While we resell Optus services, we are responsible for providing them to you through our own agreements, which include features like VoLTE and WiFi calling.

Apart from maybe about 470,000 phones

    Good deal though, OP

    • Data Only SIM shouldn't be impacted (but probably still will be), as there should be no expectation that a device with data only to make any call, let alone a 000 emergency call.

      • as there should be no expectation that a device with data only to make any call

Especially as calls are now VoLTE so are a data call.
And the service comes with a phone number to receive SMS

Can it be used in iWatch ?

    • I was curious myself. I am after a cheap basic plan for my Apple Watch. if possible.

    • not this plan no.

  • How to get esim? Qr code or app? Want to use it for Samsung watch

    • Please let us know how you go!

    Floptus, Vodafail or Tel$tra network?

    • +3

There are literally two separate comments above that answer this question

Keen to know if this works on Samsung watch and how.

    • +2

I've followed these instructions on my Galaxy 5 pro https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyWatch/comments/12a7erm/how_to…

I used this with an Amaysim eSim. Crazytel say they do eSim so this presumably would work also.

      • I read somewhere that adding eSIM with the test method could cause mobile network/eSIM to stuck and no longer be able to add/change network later on after reset, did you try reset before? Thanks for sharing.

        • I haven't added another eSim since, so I don't know unfortunately. I had previously number shared with Optus and had no issues adding a standalone esim

    • Also want to know. Anyone have these working with galaxy watches?

  • +4

The 3 big Telcos hold on the smart watch 5g/4g is stupid and disguesting

  • Is there any excess data charge?

  • Do you need to do a credit check for this?

  • Does anybody know can I port out an mobile number from Lebara prepaid mobile plan to Crazytel data plan? I just want to keep this number to receive sms and use this number to sign up the $4.95 data plan for my tablet. (May be I will upgrade or port it out to another mobile plan in the future).

The PDS says that you can’t port numbers in to this plan from another provider but you can port them out.

      • Thanks mate!

  • -3

    Can these receive sms's?

    • Title says yes

  • For just SMS there was a plan that’s $5 a year but I forget which company it is, I think Lebera?

One recharge lasts a year and you can receive sms, no data or outbound

I tried to sign up this plan, but they need to verify the identity. We need to upload the document to a website (GLOBALDATA, which I don't know that) , even face verification. It seems a bit insecure. Anybody done before?

    • +2

i know right. It looks pretty dodgy but i caved in for this late stage capitalism bs anyways. After i made an account theres no option for purcahsing a $4.95 data sim. You can order a sim, ill have to wait if you van actually select that plan when it arrives and I activate.

fyi the whole site and all the signup/website system is so strange, different to all the other cell providers, and ive switched between many. Looks scammy asf lol i hope they dont sell my data😭😭 (they probably will)

  • Could be a good combination with
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/938431?utm_source=newslett…
$13 for 6 months of Telstra coverage and phone calls,
$5/m for this on an esim for data.
    Total about $7 per month.
Probably come unstuck after 6 months if a similar deal isn't available from Telstra. Telstra pack I have currently expires 2/12/26 so could probably get close to 12m with another one, plus need to port out at the changeover.
I suspect not worth the mucking about, but I'm tempted to do it just out of annoyance of the price going up constantly.

Actually just checked and roamless is USD$2.45 per GB currently Aud $3.73 and you only pay for what you use, so probably better value.

This is exactly what I'm looking for, but after the convoluted account setup, their portal is an absolute hot mess…..

    • +1

100% agree. Honestly looks scammy asf and was an absolute nightmare to go through the process.

I tried twice and literally gave up because I didnt like how weird and a mess the site & procedure was. Took the third time till i finally went through it all. And even then, I was only allowed to purchase a bloody sim. I dont even know if I can sign up for the 4.95 data plan yet.

cue the stolen / sold data in a week. sigh.

wanted to sign my dad up. we arnt doing face recognition

  • Only $2.45/GB with Roamless, and the data never expires and works in every country around the world.

    • Those are US dollars though, aren't they? Works out to $3.75 or so AUD I think, which is good, but not cheaper than crazytel (if you actually use exactly 2GB/month).

      • I usually buy the $15 with an extra $15 bonus before every overseas trip with the code HELLO15.

        • Does that code always work? They do seem to have regular promotions. Its taken me 3 years to use up the free sign up data, but that would change if I start using it in Australia as well as overseas.

          • @md333: I usually use new email address and it always works for me. You can see it in the top of their website roamless.com

  • Should be sufficient to upload an image 1-2 times a day from an IP camera?

    • it depends on image resolution and network overhead but it should be plenty for this

  • Has anyone managed to activate the esim? I'm getting "failed to save data, Please try again" when I'm confirming account holder information. Live support does is not responsive.

    • Update: activation worked after waiting for a few hours.

      • Getting the same error, tried to contact live support no response
