Thanks, just in time for Lunch Break.

  • Has anyone else had an issue of member discounts disappearing if they select the delivery option? Like the price increases on member discount items, and the mention of any member discount disappears altogether.

I have to set it to pick up/collection for the member discount on any items to re-appear.

    • +1

Unsure about member discounts, but individual stores have their own pricing on a select few lines they're trying to clear.
I also get cheaper prices when electing to deliver to my parent's house for some reason. My guess is perhaps it's because they're over a certain distance from the nearest Dan's?

  • +9

Wow 20% after multiple 15% discounts. People must have really stopped drinking booze!

    • +2

Yeah times must be tough, Dans rarely discounted not so long ago.

    • +1

Not what you thinking, my local Dan added 2 extra staff because of order volumes they are getting with this "Discount" trap. Normally you have to wait when collecting, but over the past few weekends, they have 2-3 person on standby and very busy sorting orders lol.

      • +4

Yeah, I see lots of new staff @ local DM. But if times were good there would be no discounts. Not complaining, some items are getting to the duty-free airport range.

    • +1

Honestly good on people for cutting back. Between health and the cost of living, it makes total sense

  • +6

Quick!!! The usually cashback exclusions of champagne, Penfolds, etc. do NOT apply.

    • +1

      Grange at a discount… BARGAIN!!

  • +2

and I just spent $600 at Dan Murphy using the 15% off…

    • Spent half that, kind of pissed off. Extra 5% would have been nice on $400.

      • Dan's is easy to return stuff. Return, re buy. Do it for the ozb

        • Nah CBF, something about returning alcohol just seems funny unless it's off or corked. 5% is not going to break the bank.

  • +9

Combined it with nab offer, spend $200 and get $50 cashback (maybe targeted) check your nab app.

    • Oh wow. Thanks heaps, that was an easy $50.

    • Damn, don't have that offer from NAB

  • +16

If you want to do it the OzBargain way, this is the way.

    1. Add 31 of the Sonata Estate Soft Fruity White Cask 4L goon sacks to your cart.
    2. Add the coupon code to get it all for $247.75
    3. Per goon sack there are 32 standard drinks. This makes its 992 standard drinks in total for the order.
    4. $247.75 divided by 992 makes it about 25 cents per standard drink.
    • +2

Damn that's cheaper the roughly 35cents per drink of Spirytus https://theliquorbarn.com/products/polmos-spirytus-rektyfiko…

Although with spirityus you are far less bloated.

      (drink responsibly people)

      • That is a US site in US dollars though?

        • +2

I mean I didn't expect you to fact check my stupidity… I think it's Canadian though now that I have checked. Our dollars are on par, just don't try to import it 🤣

    • +1

      Cheap hangovers sorted for 2026!

    • I bet you would hate Sonata Estate Soft Fruity White if you went through with this suggestion.

    • +1

Oh damn - this will the most cost effective way for playing Goon of Fortune with friends & family for our Christmas party.

  • +3

What to buy, what to buy… I just picked up a Lagavulin 16 and The Balvenie 12 with the last 15% offer. Wish I’d waited for this one.

    • +1

Go again, double up! Always nice to have some backup around XMAS time. Or diverse with some nice wine, plenty on members offers.

      • +1

Hehehe I know I'm so tempted thinking this time I'll try some macallan heard good things about them

  • +3

Thank you! Lagavulin 16 is $128.8 with this discount. https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_41788/lagavulin-16-…

    • +1

I got DM to pricematch Nicks wines which is on sale for $149 and then after 20% discount comes to $120

      • I tried this on another bottle that had the reduced tag on it and Dans chat tried to tell me it is clearance. Think I’ll just head into a store with stock.

        • By chance agent by the name of "Blessing"?

          • +3

@AnDyStYLe: Blessing insisted it was "reduced" and cannot price beat. I said the policy states "reduced to clear", which it didn't state on Nicks, only that it was "reduced".

So unhelpful Dan's live chat are. I took that as a challenge and pressed the matter. Kindly requested to be put through to a manager and needed to leave my number.

Surprisingly, got a call back from a customer care manager within minutes. I explained the scenario and they too insisted that Nick's reduced items are clearance and he proceeded to try school me about the Laga 16 being put under Other Categories > Clearance Spirits & Liqueurs on the Nick's site. I rechecked and confirmed to him that isn't the case.

Back and forth for a few more minutes I said all this is too hard and not a very great experience just to try get a price beat, and as I was about to let it go he said he'd honor it.

TLDR: If you're keen on a challenge to wait a while in the live chat queue and press the matter with live chat, go for it but YMMV! Don't expect a quick and easy yes to a price beat with Nick's. Also the live chat experience is so bad. Be warned! If you do get a quick win, well done 🥃

            • +1

@AnDyStYLe: Same experience I had. Showed them all the links where clearance items did not list the bottle I wanted. If they are so desperate to maintain revenue, arguing over a few bucks is pointless. Let us spend our cash with your brand and stop using BS excuses that goes against your price match policy.

              REDUCED is not CLEARANCE.

              CLEARANCE is CLEARANCE.

              • +2

@VerticallyIntegrated: Sanity prevails and customer service lives on!

Went in store, asked can I use the offer in store.

“Yep, as long as you spend $300.”

Can I price match this bottle from Nicks?

“Yep, I just did a match for a different bottle from Nicks earlier.”

No friction, no debating the definition of reduced, no making it more difficult with manager escalation. Yep, I see the price. Done.

Hat tip to Mic I think her name was from the Ascot Vale store.

  • +3

Thanks OP! had left over cart from star liqour pricematch on my account. $91.6 per lagavulin 16 + 5% off GC finally getting that precovid price back

    • I didn't realise you could hold on to a price match. I thought it had to be done the same day. Wish i would have waited. Got 6 bottles in the match for 110, which was also good price. i tried to buy more again when the 15% discount was available but Star Liquor was out of stock by then

  • +2

Penfold 2005 is $1,039 after 20% off at Dans, and is $950 at Nicks with no discounts.

  • +2

is there a good way to view dan's products? website is crap.

trying to get the cheapest beer i can find, Coles has sort by price per litre in search page, liquorland at least you can filter by package size, but with dan im forced to browse all the expensive options 4 packs 6 packs, even member discount filter are all over the place

    • searching "block 30" is the best i can do, still no meaningful way to sort by price, only narrowing down to smaller list

    • +5

I can't believe the state of the Dan's website. Search brings up irrelevant results, the sort doesn't actually work, and half the things are categorised wrong. And it says you can use search terms like "a chardonnay from 2012". I type that in and the first three results are champagne! Did anybody test this thing? I have to wonder if they are losing revenue from this awful website.

Sorry but you triggered a rant I've been holding in for months now.

  • +2

Anyone got recommends of anti-hangover drinks similar to the ones you get from Japan / Korea to pair with this deal?

  • +1

Don’t forget extra 5% with gift cards via NRMA

  • +1

I think I'm too stocked up from previous deals to take advantage…

  • +2

Lots of drinks at Dans are considerably more expensive than other websites. Best to check and price match before buying.

    • True, but 20% with members price is hard to beat. I mean there are some really awesome bargains if you're a high roller or like high end stuff.

Problem is DM has $1000 discount cap, so if you really wanted to go berserk you would need to order 1 x $1K per day until Sunday.

  • seems to be a limit of 6 on rivka vodka so unable to get to $300 spend

  • Does anyone know if they enforce the $1000 cap? It says at their discretion. I have $1300 in my cart haha

    • Not sure. i just did it as two orders unintentionally. just spent about 1500 on various spirits - hibiki, aberlour, don Julio etc. not good for liver. that is over a $1000 spend over black Friday

  • Excellent deal putting this offer with the Moet Rose limited edition bottles. A decent bubbles, normally sitting around the ~$100-110 mark (but gettable at around $90) for ~$67 (or the price the standard brut is currently on sale for).

  • Any recommendation for a whisky or scotch single bottle over 300?

  • +1

dans nowadays are not a price leader, they are a price follower. At least this offer does not exclude penfold and champagne like most cashbacks.

To make most use you need to price match via your woefully slow live chat and run the glauntlet with the agents trying to deny you at all costs.

But hey, I managed to price match then add 5% giftcard discount so 24% off a price beat is great value

  • wow their website resets the promo code applied to cart when you re-login or switch stores, and they force log you out in a few hours, so very likely you wont be getting discount unless you check the cart total at every step of the way

thats how missed promo code last time and had to cancel to put another order in, kind of regret buying from this crappy company when i still have coles monthly discount yet to be used on liquor

    • +1

their website is woeful. But then again they have killed off a lot of their competitors

  • app keeps logging me out… tried placing order 4 times…. wtf !

    • +1

Try the website, just worked for me

  • order placed via website. thanks op… got Laphroaig 10 yr for $72 each delivered
