  • Amaysim has 500Mb for 60 for 6 months (if not finished)

    • +7

I'm currently on third month of the amaysim 500/50 $40/month for 2 months deal. I rang to cancel/port away and was offered an extra month at $40. Given i'm already with origin for electricity, this deal is quite attractive.

      • Thanks for sharing, I'm on second month and going into third month, I'll see if I can get a discount also

      • +1

@PR0r how are you finding Amaysim, I'm moving from Super loop as my offer is ending. In in FTTP so hoping will be ok ?

        • No complaints using them. There was an outage yesterday that was apparently related to Optus. Besides that, speeds and reliability have been great. I was connected solid for 60+ days on fttn before that incident. Would definitely recommend

        • I'm also on second month with Amaysim (500/50 HFC), apart from minor issues (short downtime a couple of times) we've been pretty happy with it.

        • I ported to Amaysim today, what a sh*t show. HFC NBN Box with 4 green lights, but a direct Ethernet connection to PC doesn't even work. Never mind the router.

Wait time on the phone was 85 minutes, escalated but need to wait approx 8 hours for tech to get back to me.

I also checked my queue wait time just now for online chat - so far 2.5 hours WITHOUT a CSR responding.

      • Hmm, I just got on chat to see if they can offer a better price as finishing up the $40/month deal and rep said they don't price match other competitors. Might give a call tomorrow instead, hopefully better luck with different rep.

    • Also as a bonus Amaysim doesn’t use CGNAT, so you don’t even need to opt out

  • +8

Be warned that origin bans your home address from ever getting one of these deals again if you have already got one of these deals before.

    • I'll see how I go then. My plan is to move away from Origin in the coming days, get a win-back deal with their retentions team following this, then acquire this deal.

    • You mean for the bonuses or the literal deal price is also not available?

(Currently on month 6 of the previous Origin half price plan).

      • They just won't let you sign up again via their website. I get a "We can't find internet at your address" when searching for my address on the origin website, yet if I put my neighbors address in it works.

        • +2

I've done it twice and it has been left - I literally churned away from Origin about 15 minutes ago to Superloop.

          • @the-fuzz: How long have you been away from them before rejoining? Looking at doing the same but have only been away 3 months

            • +4

@Chippy47: I've been churning every 6 months for last 2 years - so would have been six-seven months

          • @the-fuzz: Did you need to call Origin 1 month in advance?

            • +2

@Averell: to leave? No, I signed up to Superloop at about 3pm this afternoon, process was completed by 4pm and had a final bill from Origin at about 5pm

              • +1

                @the-fuzz: Thanks.
I got $40 off for 3 years @More. Thinking of switching to them, so no need to worry for 3 years

                • @Averell: How did you get $40? I'm guessing yello, but what tier? The most they are offering my partner, who has her home load with them, is $30

        • +1

They mention specifically in the T&C that the deal pricing (structured as 6 months of discounts) and free prime are only available for new and moving Origin customers. They will still sell you a plan at full price if you want to buy it, no company will say no to more money…

        • +1

          Worked just fine for me.
I've churned them for energy many times. I've also been with them as internet providers twice now. I most recently signed up in their last deal and got connected today.

        • this happened to me as well, and i've never signed up to their internet before. only an existing electricity customer 🤷🏻‍♂️

did you try calling them? says to call the number provided

          • @OY57ER: They is an issue with the search feature/address checker of Superloop. My house shows up as FTTP for most other nbn providers I’ve checked but for Origin/Superloop/Exetel it doesn’t and it says nbn not available even though I have an active nbn connection. I’ve had to call them up and go through the registration process over the phone with them.

    • +14

I’ve signed up for Origin internet three times at the same address over the past three years to take advantage of various offers they’ve run.

    • +3

Na, I am also on my 2nd cycle of the Everyday Rewards offer to sign up with electricity, gas & nbn.

    • +1

Unless you live alone…. use partner, child, parent…etc.

    • I've been with origin 3 times over the past 12 months. Never been denied anything. The only thing that might be not available is everyday rewards bonus. As they say in the T&Cs that there needs to be 10 months between bonus deals like this from Origin. What a load of crap you are talking!

      • Oh really?
I signed up and in the welcome email they included this

        Inclusions
        Everyday Rewards points
Your points will arrive in around 45 days, provided your plan remains active with your EDR account linked.

  • if you sign up then cancel, do you keep the 12 months free Prime

    • I can't comment as I'm yet to sign with this particular deal, but with their previous Paramount plus deal which was also for 12 months, I signed up and set a port over date, and prior to that date I received the Paramount offer which was a code. So I commenced using paramount plus prior to having their internet connected.

    • I signed up to the last origin deal with prime and it very specifically states you don’t keep it. Even on the Amazon side it said it was 12 months or cancelling origin.

      • +1

Yes, it says you don't keep it but I also got the Prime code before even connecting the nbn.

Last time with Paramount plus, the voucher was for 12 months as well and it kept working for the whole 12 months even though I left Origin after 4-5 months.

    • From the T&C's on the deal. I got a previous deal with Paramount and the 12 month sub has remained even though I've churned. I don't recall seeing anything in that deal regarding it ending at the current membership month. So looks like they've closed that loophole now potentially.

If you cancel your Origin nbn® or Opticomm fibre plan during your 12-month Prime membership Offer, you will lose access to Prime at the end of your current membership month.

  • +6

Throw in a house and I'm in

    • +1

in fact, skip the internet. just the free house thanks.

  • +1

I guess not for WA ?

    • Synergy operates a state-owned electricity monopoly in Western Australia :)

    • +2

You can bundle gas and internet in WA to get this deal

      • I don't use gas, unfortunately

  • Do they include free modem too?

    • +2

yes if you keep the service for 24 months, otherwise you will have to pay back the cost

    • +2

Who needs a new modem these days?

      • +2

What's a modem these days? The "modem" they give you doesn't MOdulate or DEModulate anything. It's a router.

        • Ugh, the worst kind of being right…

  • +2

Just signed up, but rethinking it after seeing a competitor's offer.

Amaysim Deal: $60/month + $120 Cashback (Looks better overall).

Origin Deal Includes:$62/ month + Amazon Prime (Value: $79), Everyday Rewards (Value: $25)
(Bonus: Every dollar spent on gas bundles earns an Everyday Reward Point.)

I reckon I'm not losing out too much, but open to input.

    (Based in WA)

    • +1

Who's Amaysim partnered with to provide the internet? If it's Optus then you'll have much more reliable internet with Superloop.

      • Optus

      • +1

Been with Amaysim past couple months. Has been fine until yesterday when I was caught up in the Brisbane Optus no internet for the day thing…

        • Same here, but in Gold Coast 😞

    • +1

how'd you get the $120 cashback?

    • +1

      Link to Amaysim deal please.

  • It is available for Opticomm too. Title should be updated.

    • The equivalent that I can see for this price is Enthusiast Opticomm 100/20 $62. Is it showing something else for you?

      • Sorry I mean $35 off also applies to Opticomm plans that I saw.

  • Static IP available? CGnat opt out?

    • From memory a static IP was an additional $5 per month. However I managed to get 2 months out of them for free and got rid of it after that, when required to pay $5. Things may have changed as this was very earlier of this year.

    • I asked them about CGNAT in June, they had no idea.
Static IP is $5 (the first person I talked to made me feel like it's free, but when the 2nd guy provisioned it for me, it's $5/m)

      • Asked them to remove CGNAT and they offered two options Static IP (paid) and Static IP (No charge - Sticky Public Dynamic IP). I took the no charge option :)

    • Amaysim nbn no gcnat don’t even need to opt out

  • +1

My cheap Superloop deal just came to an end this month, so this popped up at a good time

  • +3

I hjust paid for my priome membership.

Does it stack with your current membership?

    • Want to know as well.

    • If it’s just a code as others have indicated I previously stacked 4 years’ worth of them on my prime account by redeeming Telstra Plus points for Amazon Prime vouchers before closing my Telstra account

    • +1

yes, it will pause your payments for 12 months

    • It stacked for me. Changes the membership to “partner billed” and changes the ongoing payments to monthly. Put a reminder in the calendar!

Invitation came 72 hrs after signup via message with a link.

  • +2

I think you can get this for $72/m for 6 months if you choose not to bring over Electricity/Gas connections. I can see it in my cart for that price while entering details, and it's also visible on the plan selection page when you turn off the "Bundle Pricing" toggle in the top right. Can anyone else confirm?

    • Actually, it looks like this is the "Internet Festive Offer", which is $35/m off for 6 months, stacking with the EDR points and Prime Membership. Energy connection bundle add another $10/m discount. Perhaps title change instead

      • +1

Is this offer for $72 still a deal though?

        • +1

Yes absolutely! I'd rather Origin (Superloop backed, CGNAT can be disabled, decent support?) than Amaysim

          • @deadhurricane: Slight update, they don't know what CGNAT is and can't disable it, Static IP for $5/M instead. Still a pretty good deal

            • @deadhurricane: Guess you need to find the right rep. They disabled mine for free, the ip is fairly sticky, no change since then.

              • @xsw123: yeah same here, just had to call them up

  • Is it worth get the FTTP upgrade?

    • +3

Pretty sure fttp you basically pay the same prices as fttc but for drastically better speeds. So yeah, if you can get it upgraded for free, worth it.

    • +1

      Yes

    • Definitely upgrade it for free now while you can. I don’t know the specifics, and I presume the government will continue to provide free upgrades going forward, but they can change things so I’d be inclined to do it whilst it’s no charge.

As a free upgrade too, we’ve found it hasn’t changed a whole lot, but our connection is more stable than NBN FTTN, and the connection itself is no longer in our bedroom, which is nice.

      • The only problem with the upgrade is they never install it in the location that you want which is very annoying.

        • +1

I guess it depends. They did for us. It would also presumably depend on the layout of your house. We were able to ask them to put in a room that was reasonably close to the switch board and where they could easily get access. There’s a lot restrictions on what they can access, cabling lengths and stuff like that. I think being a little flexible is important.

  • +1

No landline/VOIP (where I am) if it matters.

  • +2

Can someone confirm if the porting pretty seamless? Thanks :)

    • +1

      Porting nowadays is straightforward process

    • Porting took less than 15 mins. Melbourne inner north

  • +1

Gosh I hate this NBN Co clause. Has anybody tested it?

"The most important condition is that if you downgrade your NBN plan or change provider within the first 12 months of being upgraded, you may need to pay NBN Co a $200 fee."

    • +1

Oh. Didn’t see that. Yeah that sucks. The $62 a month is only valid for 6 months, so seems like may have to pay the higher charge for 6 months to avoid the fee.

    • Is that new?

      • No it's old. Many providers don't pass on nbn's $200 fee (Leaptel, Superloop, Aussie BB to name a few) and you can change provider after FTTP is installed.

  • +1

Is there a lock in contract after being with origin? last time i was with tpg, i was blindsided with need to stay for 1 month after calling for cancellation.

  • +1

A pretty ho-hum deal. Easy enough to get $100 cashback periodically (plus discount), with only 3 or so months to qualify.

  • I signed up on Nov 29 to be activated on 1 Dec. Still not connected. FTTP. Got in contact with customer service yesterday and they said they'd escalate it and I'd hear an update today - which I have not heard back. I have never faced this issue with any other provider as FTTP can be activated on 4 different ports. Plus I don't have an active service as I assumed a seamless transition so they can literally activate it on any port..

Oh and their customer service phone/live chat takes a long long time to get through.

    • Hi @currentfad what was the eventual activation date?

      • +1

I think it was like 5th it came through

        • Thank you. Might be 4 business days then.

          • +1

@JJlikes2eat: I made the same order but on opticomm and that was connected on my connection date (1st).

For both I had already terminated services with existing providers on 30 Nov
