  I ordered 10 rolls from Jayo official 21/11/25, normally they show up in two days. I'm in Brisbane, this time the tracking number they put into eBay has gone from Sydney to Perth and has been sitting there for days. Funky.

  Been ordering from these guys for a while, however struggling to find a cheap terracotta coloured filament since siddament canned their wood brown colour.

  Any recommendations? Avoiding bambu for the moment.

    Do you have a colour reference?

    It probably won't be as cheap but JAYO has Marble Brick Red, same with Anycubic.
    Elegoo has PLA Brown

        Have you tried using 3D Filament Profiles? Looks like Polymaker has something that suits.

        And it seems like Polymaker PolyTerra has rebranded to Panchroma.

        I could only find one store.

  Any recommendations for a beginner? Got a P2S on the way and have some creality PLA from the recent deal.
  All the different materials are confusing me a bit, I've looked at a few explanations but it's just not sinking in.

    Get a mix of these to start with.

    PLA+ 2.0 has a wide range of colours
    Matte PLA hides layer lines extremely well
    PLA Classic - slightly matte, and opaque
    PLA Silk - shiny and reflective

    PLA is easy to print, while giving you a broad sample of material types & appearances.

      Got a whole bunch from Anycubic. Strangely, they were the only ones with free shipping, the rest either didn't deliver to me or cost $20. Never really had that with eBay.

    So you have plastics, the two introductory plastics I recommend are
    PLA is the best introductory material with very little fumes.
    PETG is also okay if you want a less rigid material that's harder to break and better heat deflection temperatures.

    There's variations of materials based on the type of filling used
    Most famous are Glass Filled, Carbon Fiber which are small abrasive fibers of the respective material added to the plastic to strengthen it in various ways.
    These are not recommended for beginners as printing them will gradually damage your nozzle, and you will need to replace it.
    There's also Coloured, Wood filled etc filaments which are far more common

    Then there are Engineering plastics, usually printing these have their own challenges and may damage your nozzle.
    ABS, ASA, emit pretty bad VOCs while printing, so a filter or printing outdoors is recommended. You also need to preheat your chamber for these two.
    PC is pretty much the border of what you can print on the P2S, preheating required.
    TPU can pretty easily clog and cannot be fed into the AMS

    What you use depends on your use case and this comment isn't enough to cover everything but the basic requirements.
    CNC Kitchen or Zack Freedman on Youtube cover them pretty well

  Beware, PETG is a pain to calibrate and use. I bought a tonne in a previous sale and have struggled to calibrate my printer to get great prints out of it. PLA/PLA2.0 is significantly easier to work with

      That was going to be my next step to get a filament dryer, but even with extra step and cost PETG still needs extra calibration which is a lot more hassle compared to PLA

          @3dprintdeals: Elegoo Nptune 4 Pro, I was using the SUNLU PETG profile in Orca Slicer which didn't help much. Calibrating it improved the quality significantly but still not happy with the exterior wall quality. Looks like from the comments below a dryer is a must so will give this a go.

            @dramant88: Look for thr creality space pi with the same code

            They may not have jacked it up yet.

            You don't need to always dry it either. I'll dry it once and hust store back in the bags.

            The only calibration I would suggest is flow rate. Orca added a new one which makes it much easier to pick the values.

      100% will solve your issues with PETG..

      A filament dryer is an absolute essential for anyone with a 3D printer.

      I find printing with PETG to be almost identical to PLA except PLA can do bridging much cleaner

    I'm fairly new to printing, less than 50 hours, I found with petg by sunlu
    Drying is essential, 8hrs was ok but another 6hrs was better
    Using X1C turning off dynamic flow optimisation improved quality a lot

    Drying is essential for all filaments esp esp budget Jayo filaments which are just slightly worse Sunlu filaments.
    Ive definitely gotten spools from Bambulab which “just worked” except they are way overpriced

    I used to get the cheap rolls from Kingroons and threw them straight into my X1C/H2D without drying, no problem/calibration needed so far.

    I went down this path as well recently and we found all the recommendations about drying the filament was the solution for us (the 3d printing equivalent of 'have you tried turning it off and on?'). Complete night and day difference. Even out of the shrink wrapped packaging, they were essentially "wet".

    We're using JAYO PETG with Bambu P2S and have also found that for more complex prints using the Bambu High Quality profile (slower print speeds) have been producing really clean prints if Standard hasn't been working.

      Looks like this is the way to go. Mine was taken right out of the sealed wrap and it made a complete mess of the print head which put me off. I've got it printing better after hours of calibration but sounds like this could've been avoided by getting a filament dryer.

  Thanks just in time to restock for marble, gold and white and black filaments. FWIW I have never had to do anything for calibration or drying for Jayo… petg and pla been great out of box and with generic Bambu profiles.

  Good to see Anycubic joining the party. I wonder how they stack up to Jayo/Sunlu.

  It's hard to beat Jayo silk esp but there is room to beat them in other types, like some of their regular colours seem to have a bit less pigment than the competition or the sales pics are a little bit off in colour. Though it's pretty usable in isolation (i.e. don't go putting it next to a Sidd roll :P)

    Absolutely not!

    The lowest entry point worth considering is the Flashforge Adventurer 5M. Around $300 with the same ebay code.

      No doubt the Flashforge would be much better but I heard the Ender 3 can be modded quite a bit to make it better. Just thinking base price of $40 and whatever on top for mods if it could get into the realm of a modern 3D printer or is it not worth it and just go for the 5M at $300?.

        It is not worth your time and money to tinker with an Ender 3.

        You may get the printer for $40 but end up spending hours just on levelling the bed alone. All modern printers have auto-levelling as standard.

    Depends if you want tweaking 3d printers or designing new things to print to be your new hobby. Ender 3 is fine and there are some deals to be had but if you ask me they are basically ewaste nowadays. Just have a look at how many are going for almost free on marketplace with the reason for sale almost always being 'i bought a bambu'. Hell if you live in brisbane you can have most of the parts I stripped off my ender 5 for free.
