$5 Gift Card Credit for Scanning 15 Receipts from Eligible Stores (Coles, Woolworths etc, Activation Required) @ ShopBack App

1632
  • Join $5 gift card credit challenge in SB App > Earn More > More challenges.
  • I've asked GYB for clarification on offer.
  • Earn reward after scanning 15 receipts.
  • Maximum of 3 receipts from a single retailer in a calendar day.
  • Receipts older than 21 days will generally not be accepted for submission.
  • Offer redemption ends on 31 Dec 2025. extended to 5 Jan 2026.
  • Please refer to the app for the full list of eligible retailers and stores.
  • Offer

In previous offers, I've submitted physical receipts from eligible stores such as Coles, Woolworths and Chemist Warehouse. There have been reports of the scanner not reading receipts from online shopping.

From GYB:

Hey folks 👋Quick heads-up on the Scan a Receipt thing, it now works for both in-store and online purchases 🎉

All you need is either:
✅ An original physical receipt, or
✅ An original PDF e-receipt (downloaded directly from the store, not a screenshot)

So yep, online orders are fine now too, just make sure you’ve got the proper PDF version from the retailer

Is there a catch or gotya with these shopback receipty thingys…..or am I missing out?

    • +3

Yes it only accepts receipts from certain companies

It doesn’t accept digital receipts only paper ones

It doesn’t accept receipts that are slightly faded which is out of your control (says they are blurry)

Doesn’t accept any $0 receipts. eg. If you get a free sample

      • +1

It does accept digital receipts, save it as pdf and upload, or show it on your monitor and then take a picture.
I just uploaded for Amazon, ubereats, Asics, KFC, temu which where all email/digitial

        • how do you get it to accept the digital ubereats invoices?

          • +2

@nap enthusiast: app invoice didnt work on shopback so I went on computer.
Hamberger icon > Orders > download invoice > extract > scan your screen with shopback app.
Little bit annoying, but lucky I orders a bit in the last 2 weeks

      • you can share digital apps like from woolies rewards app, also if they allow it to be saved as a pdf you can upload that.

  • +11

    Nah skip

    • +1

Yes, last week there was $2 bonus for first ever scanned receipt. Wait for that.

Freebie receipt from BWS is also eligible!

I can imagine 100% cashbacked Pizza Hut receipt is eligible though I haven't tried.

      • +1

        It works

  • +11

These are a pain. Half the time it doesn't work. Waste of time.

    • My limited scanning experience tells me that make sure to capture the purchase date/time. BWS's freebie receipt only shows it at the very bottom as there's no payment details that usually have time stamped.

      • One company printed their receipt with MM/DD/YY and it screwed over my receipt… 12/01/25 is too old of a receipt apparently.

        • It makes sense, but the AI or something that SB use should know the date format of that retailer. In other words, all the receipts from that retailer follow the date format.

    • Physical receipts are usually fine. Online receipts could be a pain. I haven't submitted an online receipt yet.

      • +1

If you download the .pdf from your activity in everyday rewards app they submit just fine. The photo ones can be hit/miss and take days to validate. I played around with the contrast/brightness on a faint IGA one I photographed and it finally worked too.

        • I'm finding my Woolworths .pdfs don't work at all anymore. Given up on this crap completely now.

    • Mine works most of time. Sometimes it just need retaking of physical receipts. However earned mainly $0.05 /receipt. Still free money for 5 seconds effort. Lol

  • +5

Giving your valuable data for $5??? I wouldn't do so.Receipts have lot more info not just items you purchased.

    • +11

I had a pumpkin on one receipt and a powerade on another - I don't really care what they do with that data.

    • +2

Only use the receipts that have been cashbacked or for a freebie like I said. It makes no difference to leak data twice.

    • +2

I like baby oil, carrots and rope

    • +1

So you don't have flybuys, everyday rewards, credit cards? Majority of these programs use your purchasing info.

      • -1

I know, and I don't care if they see what I buy when it comes to groceries. Thats my choice and happy to be rewarded in return for it. You could always pay cash. You don't even have to scan the reward or payment part of the receipt if you don't want to and it still works.
I do care about other things though, eg. I have my own hosted email and don't use the free ones. Free emails like Google and Yahoo etc scan through your emails and photos to learn about you. That's crossing the line for me. Each to their own.

    • -1

I’m just afraid the sex category stuff I bought, got distributed online

      • But you get an extra $2 for uploading your durex condom purchases, only from chemist wearhouse and with a minimum spend. Soooo worth it

    • In a supermarket are bins.

Inside those bins are piles of receipts.

      Upload those.

  • +2

Max 3 per store per day.

The receipts don't have to have any of the bonus items either.

  • +1

    This is easy

  • -2

    off you go, lemmings!

  • +2

After uploading a few I always get flagged. For suspicious activity. Curious how anyone will get 15 in

    • How many did you upload? I did 4 this morning dated 4th & 5th. but I'm heading to the shops soon and will do some more later

    • uploaded 3 from coles and 3 from woolies. no issues so far

    • Yup same.

      Contact support. Uploads paused.

  • Awesome. Can do my 2 month old receipts without issue. Limited to 3 for each vendor though…

    • +2

Receipts older than 21 days will generally not be accepted for submission

      • I got out a bunch of old receipts, didn't check the date on all of them but pretty sure one of them was just before mid November

        • All of the ones I attempted >21 days were rejected.

  • +1

$5 Gift card credit must be used by 31 Dec 2025 11:59 PM AEST

    • +4

      @gotyourback Can you please clarify:

      • Does the offer for submitting the receipt end on 31 Dec 2025 11:59pm AEST or AEDT?

      • Is the $5 gift card credit to be used by 31 Dec 11:59pm, the same time as the end date for submission of receipt?

      • How soon is the gift card credit awarded after submitting the receipt? It may not work out if the above term is accurate as there isn't enough time to use between submitting a receipt and receiving the gift card credit.

      Thanks.

      • +2

For question #3, you get it instantly (just finished the challenge).

    • +1

@JuiceWRLD This is the original offer when I posted this morning and linked in my post. It didn't mention the gift card credit use by date but states "Earn reward after scanning 15 receipts" which is now deleted.

      • +1

        yeah, shop back being cheeky.

    • In the past for a similar style promotion, the gift card credit must be used by the date. That is, you must buy a gift card by that time. The gift card itself has a separate expiry.

  • +2

Haven't had great success rates unfortunately, 2/5 when all should have matched criteria, and hard to get info on why rejected

  • +2

For anyone struggling with digital receipts, you need to use the share function to put it in. If you upload a PDF from within the app, it comes out cropped and blurry and gets rejected.
Also, unlike Shping, you can't upload a screenshot and you can't use the print function from Gmail (it rejects anything with an email header).

    • I shop quite a bit from Amazon, would you by any chance know how to submit Amazon receipts as i can't seem to find share feature. TIA

      • You have to get a tax invoice which can be a pain. I should come up in your oder after delivery (or you have to request). I got a weird one that was half in chinese and they accepted it. Just make sure its the tax invoice and not the order summary

  • Many companies issuev tax invoices as an email and there's no pdf

  • I tried a zero cost receipt and it was rejected

    • No, zero cost shouldn't be the issue. My BWS freebie receipt was indeed approved.

Either there is no purchase time can be found on the receipt, or your scan doesn't include it. First of all, the receipt has to be from one of the eligible listed stores.

  • +4

So much hard workfor $5 that too via mobile phone :(

  • +4

    dodgy shopback, wasting peoples time…
good luck in getting all 15 receipts confirmed and honoured.

  • I just got back from a week in Auckland and went to Woolworths and Chemist warehouse and have physical receipts - will these count? @gotyourback ? Or do that have to be Australian Receipts only. Thanks.

    • +1

No harm in trying. I think it should accept them if the format is similar. Unlike Shping, I can confirm it can accept receipts without an ABN shown.

  • Any tips on sharing Amazon receipts?

    • Goto your orders, select an order, download invoice, and on Android send to files by Google to download to your device. That's the invoice you upload.

Shopback systems are automated with OCR software that use pattern matching to look for specific information, and that when it confirms eligiblity of receipt it rewards you.

      • I did this but keeps telling me they are not original invoice.

        • same happened to me. BTW any luck with Temu receipts?

  • +1

scam, uploaded 13, then "paused, Contact support. "

    • +1

Yeah the system is a bit (profanity) but its intended that you upload basically just after check out. Not a bunch all at once.

  • +1

Has anyone else received an email this morning with:

"Earn up to $50 with your first 5 receips scan! 🎉"
(yes, I noticed the spelling erro, but it certainly appears to be from shopback)

The link says you need to look in the app, but I can't see this offer in my app.

    • +2

I see the offer… it judges me for being an early adoptor. Go to the receipts tab on the home page. Its its near the top. If the tab isnt showing uo you might need to update and/or restart the app.

      • Aaaah - found it after restarting the app.
Somewhat misleading - the "up to $50" is a very tiny chance - lots of different rewards you might be given, all of them $0.10 to $1 after from the $50.
        For example, looking at the conditions there are 144,000 x $0.10 & 18 x $50.

    • Typical Shopback…

  • I've done this with some El Jimador promos. Managed to get $75 cashback tracking so ended up with 12 cans for very nearly free. There's now another promo for $12.50 per receipt too - should be able to buy a single can at liquorland for $9. Not worth it really unless you happen to be there but technically they're paying you to buy their product.

  • +1

Got the $5 credit instantly, don't have to wait for 15 receipts to be confirmed first.

    • Yes I got it too. But this comes up as a challenge to be completed (Spend $5 on Shopback Gift Cards to earn $5 Bonus). Does this mean we have to buy a $5 Gift Card and we get $5 back (as Bonus)?

      • +1

Does this mean we have to buy a $5 Gift Card and we get $5 back (as Bonus)?

        That's right.

  • +1

Becareful about cashback. I bought muscle nation product and receipt wasn't eligible for cash back

    • Why not?

    • Yeah there is some glitch with that offer, send to shopback and they will credit you

    • Same thing happened to me. Reached out and SB manually credited the $8 to me.

  • +4

Got locked from uploading receipts and was asked to contact support.

Went to contact support and was stuck in a loop with their AI bot.

Too hard to battle for crumbs of 5c per receipt or 33 cents in this case.

This is what we get after they sack 25% of the workforce.

    https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/shopback-lays-off-24-per-c…

    • +2

      Same exact issue.

Receipt sharing paused. We've noticed unusual upload activity. If this doesn't seem right, contact support

      Why would it seem right?

For everyone else - send an email to help@shopback.com.au

      • +1

Already done that. They are saying they won't reply for up to 5 business days.

They need to fix their systems and fix their processes. I hope the CEO or management is enjoying laying off 25% of workers and leaving the process as this.

      • Same for me. I hoped it might reset itself after midnight but no joy.

        • Spoke too soon, I'm back in business.

          • @OnlyHans: Mine is still paused

            • @Lucille Bluth: Was it paused without any reason? Mine was due to trying to submit too many receipts.

              • @OnlyHans: Also got paused after upload 14/15 receipts?

Did yours get auto unpaused after a period of time? Or did it require SB to manually intervene?

  • +1

@gotyourback I’m trying to upload receipts but it tells me to contact support. Live chat is only with the AI - can you assist?

    • Send an email to help@shopback.com.au

    • Wouldn't surprise me if gotyourback is ai. If not, I expect management are looking into it so they can layoff more.

      • @gotyourback is not AI. She dines at GYG 😊

  • +3

How do I get the gift card coupon? I uploaded 15 receipts and it says reward issued but I cant find any coupon code or discount code when I am buying gift card.

    • +1

You don't get a coupon, you buy a $5 gift card and it tracks at 100% cashback.

      • +5

The deal is literally called gift card credit, shouldn’t have to buy a gift card and get cashback

      • I just finished scanning the 15 receipts and expected a $5 credit or cashback. Didn't realise you had to go and buy a gift card (most are $10 minimum) to get $5 cashback on that purchase.

        • Amazon has $5 but I agree having to buy a GC to be credited is misleading

          • @N15: Super Swap is min $5 too. Also didn't know when I posted the deal as it's a new offer. I haven't bought the gift card yet.

  • +2

I completed this today. Shows as complete and reward issued but when I click shop now I get a 404 page. Can't find any way to buy a $5 gift card with $5 cashback.

    • Same for me error 404 page

    • +1

I was previously getting a 404 message. I'm no longer getting the error message, but I'm not sure how to redeem the $5.

Do I buy a gift card through Shopback and have $5 taken off the cost at the time of purchase? Or do I buy a gift card & wait for $5 cashback on it? It's not clear from the system how it works.

Anyone redeemed their $5 and can advise please?

      • +1

"do I buy a gift card & wait for $5 cashback on it?"

yes, same as other $30-5/$40-5 GC deals.

        • 1) So you don't need to activate the offer beforehand?
          2) It's not like the monthly ShopBack Plus voucher where you have to add the $5 off promo when you are purchasing?

It all happens automatically in the background?

      • +1

I had the 404 problem but that ceased. However when I clicked the shop now link and went to gift cards, none of them were giving me $5 cashback. A SB staffer has just given me $5 credit on my account.

        • How did you get through to a SB staff member? When I clicked on Support in the app, a chat bot opened. I'm not sure if it's to do with the time (past 6pm WST).

          • +1

@suzta: The chat bot put the query through as it couldn't resolve it.
