To use AliExpress Coin super discounts:

  • Download the AliExpress app
  • Go to Coins on the home page or Account → Coins
  • Purchase products from this page to get the discount
  • You’ll see products with higher coin discounts based on your browsing patterns

AliExpress Local+

AliExpress have now made it easier to identify products located in Australia with the Local+ banner. These products ship from Australia, often from Amazon via MFC and will not incur a GST charge at checkout.

AliExpress Saver

AliExpress have a membership program (formally AliExpress VIP) for a monthly fee that gives you monthly coupons worth US$48, exclusive prices and 24/7 live chat support (useful for disputes). Often they will have this dirt cheap for first time subscribers. Available from the AliExpress app on the homepage.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

AliExpress trade in USD and it doesn't fluctuate, unlike AUD! Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate.

thanks for the reminder x

  • Thanks Clear! The "Limit 1 coupon per account" means each coupon can only be used once per account right? Not that only one coupon from the list of coupons can be used, per account?

    • +2

Yep each coupon 1 use per account.

      • +1

Great, time to build my shopping list! Thanks again :)

I wonder if they will follow Australian consumer Law with their Australian stock? 🤔 Not that shipping from China was an exemption from the law in the first place, however a lot seemed to think it was.

  • +1

But if we were honest, we should have bought everything during 1111 day, while there as been a continuous sale since then through Black Friday and now this, the discounts have been lower and lower

    • The sale in between sales!

I found many items have sharply jumped up, in price, after Cyber Monday sales ended this week.

My choice is to wait for until Christmas / Boxing Day sales, but then, then items will take 2+ weeks to deliver, ie. becoming mid-January, whereas, getting stuff now, means it should arrive by Christmas.

  • My recent experience with AliExpress.

Had a high value item lined up, ~AUD1.5K.

The first batch of codes Clear dropped were the best, used the top one, I think USD150 off, great deal. However, wait a week, seller claims no stock, cancelled sale. You'd wonder why the f they'd advertise without stock, reported to AliExpress support, got templated responses in broken English not referring to my points at all, go figure. You'd think your ISP responses were bad…

Take 2, found another seller, checked via chat twice if they have stock, can ship to Australia, etc, got generic OK responses with 👍
Little did I know at the time (despite AliExpress translator) that was the seller's only vocabulary.
Used the not-so-good second batch codes (first round had expired) got a lesser discount but still satisfactory.
After a week and half, no updates, inquiries are always responded with OK 👍, eventually apply for refund, then seller writes no stock, and approves my refund.

Look, I know we all take risks for the deal dealing with AliExpress, but every year, standards diminish. Two real world cases where sellers advertise without ever meaning to fulfill the sale, why I don't know - collosal waste of time.
2 weeks on, I've got 2 refunds via PayPal, but no item.

    • What item?

      • A phone, not officially available in Australia (compatible with networks)

    • Haven't had a problem of sellers not shipping items. Bought some items recently and they were also shipped in a timely manner. With AliExpress the caveat is that you need to be super careful from which seller you are ordering.

      • Agreed, but still didn't work for me on 2nd attempt despite pre- checks.

  • When is the best time of the year for deep discounts on Ali?

    • +4

March for an anniversary and November for Singles Day.

      • Do they have any meaningful sales around Christmas time?

        • +1

Not really. Usually goes back to normal after Christmas/New Years Day and the next big sale won't be until March.

  • Those steps you've outlined for paying in USD does it also apply using the app? Also what percent difference would you say it is you're saving by following this step?

    • +1

Same applies with app. Last time I did the calculations it was just over a 4% difference. Assuming your card doesn't charge an international transaction fee.

  • Sorry for my ignorance but why use PayPal instead of the no fees card linked with Apple/Google Pay and paying in USD?

    • +1

Just in case you ever need PP buyer protection

    • +1

I use it for a bit of double-protection. PayPal, failing which the Credit Card's protection. Touchwood you never have to use them…

      • Cool, thanks for clarifying

  • +1

Any cashback improvements from TCB AU?

  • Most sellers are all JACK as usual, I kept a record of the prices (looking for handhelds) right before this starts, after 7pm all prices jacked up few dollars, so you prob end up close to paying the prices listed there, discount will be mostly just take the GST off, not as cheap as BF sale prices unfortunately …

    • -1

Hopefully you're keeping track in USD and not the fluctuating AUD that changes at 7pm daily when all promotions, games, super deals etc reset.

      • oh no, I always been paying by AUD, as I don't have a CC with no exchange rate fee, ok so every night at 7pm all prices in AUD will update? maybe thats why … THX for letting me know!

        • Yep, prices were cheaper before 7pm.

  • Anyone ever had missing deliveries?

My blackfriday purchase status turned delivered today. I was home all day and there was no buzzer.
No parcel when I popped out.

    • I've had parcels dropped at a nearby address. Check with the shipping company. If you're lucky they might have GPS co-ordinates of where the parcel was dropped and they'll tell you where to pick it up. Hopefully neighbour hasn't assumed it's theirs.

Otherwise, tell Aliexpress it was shipped to wrong address. They'll still refund you pretty quick.

      • I live in the cbd, I'm pretty sure it's not coming back.
Saw a bunch of people rip into couple Amazon parcels when they were just left at the foot of the stairs.

If the delivery guy left it outside the main entrance door, its good as gone. Unfortunately it was expensive too and I wanted to take advantage of the black Friday sale

        • Which courier company was it ? AliExpress usually uses imile or Aus post these days from my experience. If it is imile they will email you the photos of the delivery as in where they left the package.

  • I have $50 in shopping credit but no clue what to spend it on

    • Longlux automatic watches
      China fashion watches
      GaN chargers
      Portable monitors
      China ssds or orico enclosures
      Monitor lights

What's the trick to this ?
No matter how much I stack my cart AUHD12 always returns "Unable to apply promo code. The total after discount (excl. shipping) doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount."
    Even $117USD wasn't enough.

    • yeah same, not working for me - $75USD cart before shipping or tax, only code that works is AUHD03

edit: one of my items is marked 'Plus' - if I hit the spend limit with multiples of that item, the codes work. doesn't work with other items in cart not marked 'Plus'.

  • +1

@Clear do these coupons have a limited number of uses? Just trying the AUHD12 now and it's saying it's been used up

    • +1

Yeah they all have a maximum number of redemptions sadly.

  • +2

other than AUHD03, these are all expired

  • +1

    AUHD03 expire d

  • Doh! missed out on using coupons and was hoping to stack with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/939054 hopefulyy new copuons will be released before that expires?
