thanks, this will negate their price increases across the board.

wouldn't it be great to get a unlimited movies for a year pass like you pay for a full year and you can go to the movies any time as many times as you want for a full year. everyone else is on subscription service might as well be the cinemas

    • +1

Absolutely. Sinemia and similar movie subscription services had me going to the movie more frequently than ever.

Too bad they could not make it work financially.

    • They probably must make more on weekend and peak rate tickets than give a subscription even though they are empty like most of the weekdays apart from very famous titles for first few days

    • How much would it be for this service?

      • -2

a reasonable price would be between 100 and 200 a year. but no idea if they would ever do this.

      • +6

Depends but it can be tier based - high tier can book during the first week of film release lower tiers on successive weeks (incl./excl. weekends). Most cinemas would earn a lot from candy bar section so I don't think they need to up their ticket prices/subscription prizes - a popcorn and drink costs same as movie ticket but the profit must be twice if not more compared to selling tickets..

        • +1

sounds about right. can also make it heavily subsidized instead of totally free. e.g $2 or $5 a movie, something like the costco model

        • ahh righteo i assumed it was done in the past but this is a good idea and am all for it. there could also be specials and discounts on gold class and other associated services

    • They don't even staff the entrance anymore. They make more from selling popcorn than checking tickets.

    • I have a friend in Ireland and they have this monthly pass for unlimited movies… not that expensive either… it’s so good!!

  • 15% of the cards have not yet been used.

    • What do you mean by this?

  • Where do you put in the code?..

It's on the end payment page

    • Oh on mobile I had to click the drop down arrow on the “Order summary“ to find it.

You can stack with the ShopBack 5% cashback on Cinema giftcard https://www.shopback.com.au/ecommerce/skugroup/SBV_CinemaGif…
then use the Cinema giftcard to purchase the Hoyts giftcard

    • Thank you for this tip

    • +1

Cinema cards are not working when trying to pay….

    • +1

How do you make it work? It says "Your payment couldn’t be verified. Try again or use a different payment method."

Even if it does work. HOYTS only has fixed value giftcards $30 $50 $100 $150. If you buy a $100 TCN card the maximum you can use is $80 to get $100 HOYTS giftcard. Then you have to spend $20 normally in the cinema, without 20% off, and you get $5 from shopback. So in total still 20% off with extremely more hassles to manage 2 gift cards and shopback.

Unless I'm missing something, this "tip" is a trap.

      • +1

yep i'm having the same problem trying to buy a $100 gift card using the cinema card and I'm getting the same error (flames)

      • +1

I didn’t buy the cinema card today but successfully use cinema card to purchase hoyts GC today

        https://ibb.co/21mpxjkt

Did you use the card from the TCN app to make the purchase?

        • ok well at least you got it working. Yes brought the TCN gift card through shopback to get the extra $5 off. But when you put the details into Hoyts to buy the gift card it comes up " Your payment couldn’t be verified. Try again or use a different payment method."

        • +1

Thanks for sharing! Yes, I did use the TCN app to get the card info.

One thing I noticed is the date on your screenshot and mine were both wrong (9 Dec vs today 8 Dec). I suspect that the TCN server might be treating the cards purchased today as invalid because they were technically created in the future? Probably I will try again later this week to confirm that.

As mentioned, even if it works we won't be able to gain any extra $ than just buying directly from hoyts gc due to the $100 limit from shopback and the fixed values of hoyts giftcards. If only shopback offers $200 giftcards or hoyts offers customised values on their giftcards it would be great…

  • Will Netflix buying Warner bros be the death of cinema ?

    • yes you can use the uber eats deal then put the gift card in the check out

    • Yay. Uber eats extended the promotion

  • Oh no, bought it last week when it was 15% off…

  • Cineworld offered unlimited movies membership in UK. Totally worth it

  • +1
