are they actually? im going to clear out some freezer chests for these. ill get 6months supply
They are indeed! When cooked You can hardly tell it's frozen pizza. Also it's made in Italy
which one is the best in your opinion?
It's a decent frozen pizza but we tried a side by side comparison with the La Napoli from Woolies and we thought La Napoli was better.
The Coles' vacuum-sealed gourmet pizzas are pretty good too.
Crazy 6 monthssupply, must be good!
How do they stack up against the black box frozen pizza from Aldi, the one that is called "The Best Margharita Pizza". That's my usual go-to and it's the best frozen pizza I've tried (and I've tried a lot of then) but I haven't tried this one.
Can confirm that these Italian made ones are fooken great
Have you tried Dr. Oetker's ?
Just had these and yeah, they're fantastic. Even better than the Aldi black-box pizzas you can get. To be clear though the Aldi ones are also excellent and easily the second best. They both have the same vibe of tasting like proper pizza. With both at full price the Aldi one is better since it's always around $5. But while these are on sale I'm going to buy a bunch more.
Both are much better than Oetker, although that's a good one too.
Black box ones are pretty great. If these are better defo gotta buy it
Got a couple of different ALDI frozen pizzas insuring the one you mentioned. Thought it was very average, the bases are like cardboard. The destination Italy ones are much better, still nothing on making your own with Turkish bread bases but were good for half price.
Maybe im a Heathen but i'd still take a McCain Pizza Meatlovers BBQ 500g if they were sitting side by side at the same price.
Bring back the McCain $3.25 McCains days!
Fair. These are more Italian/traditional style pizza rather than American so it comes down to one's preference.
Maybe I had the wrong flavour, or at the wrong time, but I always found McCain frozen pizzas to be one of the worst frozen pizzas.
OP | @foxes28
Very decent for frozen pizza.
@LeBargainer
This is hand down the BEST frozen pizza in the market.
Better than Dr. Oetkers ?
Million times better, taste much better and much nicer italian style base rather than a bread dough base aka Coles,Dr Oetker
Yeah I think these are better. Don't get me wrong I like Dr. Oetkers too - used to buy them when they were half price for like $3.50. Won't buy them full price though
Try it make up your own mind, no risk.
Or do a search on every older thread.
These have ruined every other frozen pizzas for me. I now stock up when they are on sale
And by some margin if i may say so
Which one you like the best?
I find the non frozen one is easier to become decent, as the frozen one comes out powdery and dry after fan force.
Only 2 flavours to choose from now anyway, so just try them both.
They discontinued the Formaggi several months ago for some reason, even on their site now it only shows the 2 flavours. Shame as it was the only flavour I'd buy out of the 3.
Thanks - updated!
Great pizzas! Last time bought 20 - they are so tasty and I tart up with onion, capsicum extra cheddar chees and masses of chilli The Fig pizza is not availalbe in ANY Coles store in SA that I've seen :-(
No idea why are you are downvoted
Used onion and capsicum as toppings
Can I reheat these in air fryer - probably needed to cut in half first?
No, no you can't
According to some, you can.
150C-178C for 5-7mins - depend on thickness
Of course you can, lol.
Just do a few slices at a time.
I loaded up on these last time they were half priced, taking a punt based on others reviews.
Not disappointed. I'd be even more stoked if they are on uber eats for the save $20 on $40+ spend
Most products are full price plus 10% on delivery apps regardless of store specials
Tomorrow? Or Wednesday?
This and Dr oetker, I always have a few in my freezer.
Legend OP
Make sure you’re there as soon as they open Wednesday morning. Every sale someone clears out their whole stock and they literally never get refilled during the sale.
Yea but as mentioned in the OP can just get a raincheck.
so they are doing rainchecks at Coles again? I haven't gotten one for ages due to covid when they stopped it.
I think rainchecks may be back. I got one at Woolies recently. Probably they do it at Coles too.
Coles only stopped them for a short period of time during Covid, Woolies on the other hand only brought them back earlier this year (after also stopping during Covid).
Yes, I used one yesterday from a catalog 2 week ago
Rainchecks are only valid for one month so if they do not restock in that time, they will not work. Last time, my local Coles did not restock for months.
Raincheck only available for the items on the catalogue. If there is yellow ticke or item is on discounted but not in the catalogue then Coles won't do raincheck.
Even if that's the case, I reckon most staff don't know/care to enforce it. I just take a photo of the yellow ticket and show it to them to get the raincheck, never had an issue.
@MiscOzB: Now a days Coles do raincheck on the system console instead of paper so if it is not in the catalogue, raincheck option won't appear in the system and the staff will not able to do Raincheck.
If your store still doing raincheck on paper then hopefully should be fine.
Anything else worth getting? The catalogue looks pretty meh.
No
Isn’t Loacker the one that’s always on clearance a while back? Might use my Uber eats allowance on it to try if it’s any good.
I think that's Loacker Quadratini. Never seen Tortina on clearance
TIL about the Coles raincheck that is mentioned here and it sounds really good. I dont shop at Coles much as woolies is walking distance… But I just googled the raincheck policy for Coles. Very neat.
Encouraged by all positive comment I got one, the Margherita one.
Try it at home and was disappointed. Gave a 3 out of 10.
Added my own mozzarella as extra, pizza had some few mozzarella balls, not many.
Baked at 180 degrees convection.
Disappointing.
Disclaimer: when having enough spare time I cook my own pizzas, from flour and yeast up to classic toppings … so that is my yardstick …
Of course a frozen one won't be as good but for $5 or so it's quick cheap and convenient. I just get bases from the markets, (3 for $9), and add veg toppings. Still cheap and good.
which markets?
Nah just some local ones , kind of like Turkish bread stuffs.
You are 100% correct. Just tried both today. Both below average pizzas. I hate to say it, but I think those Dominos budget $4 or $5 pizzas are actually better.
Wow did Ozbargain overhype these pizzas. I don't even think it's worth the money at $5.50, let alone anyone crazy enough to buy it at full price!
Yeah the useless Coles near me didn't have them, checked a few times. May as well get Dom's for $6 or whatever if you feel like crap.
Can't believe how good these are… Thanx
Bought 7 cause I got no more room left in my freezer + I wanted to leave some for the people.
Bought two this evening, wanting to try one of each. Unfortunately Truffle was sold out so it was 2 x Margherita Pizza.
First time trying, highly rate it, especially at $5.50
Best frozen pizza
Got a rain check for 3 as the useless store never has any but guarantee they will once full price again.
I watched this after the last half-price offer, and at my local large Coles store, there was no stock for months afterwards. Raincheck was pointless.
We shall see.. When they expire? Can you use at a different Coles?
Not too worried about it, better making own and usually avoid dairy anyway.
Also domino's have $6 pizzas anyway quite often.
Coles rainchecks last for 30 days and only work at the place you got it from.
I rate these as much nicer than dominos and they aren't drowned in oil either. You can treat these margaritas as frozen bases you can put your own toppings on too.
@Yola they didn't write the store number on the raincheck, so yeah :).
Damn these were good. I'm gonna go back to take the rest of the stock before the deal expires today.
I also tried putting some sliced roast chicken breast and halved kalamata olives on the margherita and it's amazing. Cook for 9 mins then put the extra toppings on and cook for another 5 mins.
How does it compare to Domino's…
Leagues better. Dominos bases are soaked in oil and tastes like doughnut. This one tastes like a real pizza.
needs meat
Why
bland without it
Tabasco
Stock up people! This is hand down the BEST frozen pizza in the market.
