The once a year seasonal special at Aldi has been released. This is a daily wear face sunscreen with no water-resistance. Previous versions been very reliable for being lightweight and non-sticky. Unfortunately there is no longer an Aldi close to me and I have been forgetting to check the shelves the last few times I've been there, so I'm not sure how long it's been out for.
Even though this used to only be $3.99 a tube, $4.99 is still decent if you're after a small tube of sunscreen.
Price comparison:
- Ombra Daily Defence $4.99/60ml ($8.32/100ml)
- Hamilton Everyday Face 1/2 Price $7.50/75g ($10/100g) or 200g $16 ($8/100g)
- Cancer council SPF 50+ Day Wear Face Matte Invisible 75ml 1/2 Price $8.97/75ml ($11.96/100ml) or 150ml $11.97 ($7.98/100ml)
This year's release seems to have a new AUSTL number judging by the product image - 476781. Looking up the ARTG search, this is the full list of ingredients. The sunscreen filters have changed, there are now 5.
- butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane 40 mg/g
- ethylhexyl triazone 30 mg/g
- homosalate 100 mg/g
- octocrylene 80 mg/g
- octyl salicylate 40 mg/g
If anyone has tried this new formula, please let us know how it is in the comments. Hopefully it has kept the same lightweight feel like previous versions. Edit: Apparently not…
