    Okay, they're reaching

    • +1

C'mon - doesn't your personal airflow need to be more stylish?

      • bend over i can provide complimentary :)

        • LMAO

    • USA link.

  • +11

From the reviews it seems quite loud for something meant to be relatively close

    • +2

Loud and the switch is stupid: off-3-2-1.

      Big disappointment

      • Same as the larger AC circulators

        • +2

Pretty sure all fans should be turned on high first, so … makes sense.

      • +24

        lol

It means going from a still stationary state the motor will get enough initial juice to overcome the magnets and start to spin. Otherwise if you went 0-1 and the motor didn’t start to spin it would just burn out and you’d be sooking about something that’s actually stupid

        • Get out of here with your logic!

        • I have no idea of what you said, sound likes alot of hot air to me.

      • +1

Standard for a mini fan. These look very good quality.

  • +1

    Is the motor DC?

    • +3

Nah, don't think so. It mentions "3 Speed Control on the Rear Manual Dial" which is normally on the AC models.

  • +1

Thanks mate, grabbed 2 black ones

    • +26

      Thats what she said

  • +7

Thanks OP. For anyone wondering, can't stack the 10% welcome offer so don't give them your details like I did. OP said it wouldn't but I had to check.

    • +1

Yeah, just found that out too 😪

  • +3

$30 for a tiny fan. I think Kmart $15 ones will move more air

    • +1

Fans with metal blades last better. I have two in the back of the storage room running for 15 years contineously, and still moving lots of air. Plastic blade after a few years, seems like kind of deformed.

      • +1

        Are these metal blade?

        • +1

Blades look plasticky in the pictures.

      • +10

Not sure this is correct, 9 years of a KMart box fan, plastic blades and has not missed a beat. Clean the crap off the blades when they get dirty, maybe every 2 years. The front 360 rotation going strong and all up $15 back in the day.

TBH, I’m surprised it lasted longer than 12 months

      • Depends on manufacturer. I have Kambrook fans which are great at 7+ years

      • Metal blades always seem louder to me.

    • +3

Feel free to do some Project Farm-style testing for the rest of us and report back

  • -3

    No timer either… Ugh…

    • +2

Plug into a smart switch. Sorted.

  • -7

    Lol not even usb powered?

  • Great deal, ordered thanks OP

  • +2

How does it compare to this $7.50 USB metal blade desk fan from Bunnings? USB means it's DC with very low power consumption.

    • +1

You sure the blades are metal? The look translucent to me

      • Correct. Blades are plastic, housing is plastic. Maybe the screws and some of the motor is metal.

      • I have the metal version that looks slightly different but was around the same price. It works pretty well.

    • +8

A 1 star review said "1 out of 5 stars.Less air displacement power than a dying butterfly" "If you want a fan that looks like a fan, but does not work like a fan, buy this fan, or, better yet, buy a nice iced coffee."

    • Thanks for raising up this. Might buy one. For those looking at the negative comment about it below, they ignored the positive comments of "perfect… Not very noisy either."

Much better value than the Vornado

  • I looked online and the reviews seem mixed, and even contradictory.
But for essentially 66% off RRP it might be worth a shot. Just wish it was a DC motor!

    • Why purchase a poorly reviewed product just because it's heavily discounted?

  • Impulse bought ty

I would rather wet an old undy and put it on my hand, than pay for this. Poornado it shall be.

  • -1

Looks good for brand-name, but -1 no usb power

  • +1

I have one on my desk and love it. It's definitely on the louder side, but it's not an unpleasant white noise. The lowest setting is generally more than enough.

  • Jumped on this one. Thanks OP

    • +1

That might void your warranty mate 😁

  • +1

    Ross: Pivot! Pivot! Pivot!
Chandler: Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!

  • Thanks, bought two!

  • +11

Do not buy. This has to be one of my worst purchases.

    • Curious - what's so bad about it?

      • +7

Being Vornado, i thought the fan would have some standard of performance, being from Vornado and with it being powered by 220v. But i was mistaken… i have $10 5v usb fans that run better..

        • +1

Thanks, I was very close to getting it

    • +6

      Same boat here, 100% agree.

  • +11

Bought one of these a year or so ago (as a big Vornado fan, with MANY of their models in my house).
This was a massive disappointment… Terrible fan, woeful performance… Don't waste your money on this one people !!

  • +2

Better off buying woozoo from Costco instead

    • Thanks for the suggestion. For woozoo, is it using USB C or standard power plug?

    • Why?

  • Taking a chance on it, for that price. Thanks OP.

  • +1

Gift for the not so good friend sorted! Thanks OP!

  • +1

Honestly, save your money. These fans are what gives the bell curve its shape, being on the opposite side of 'powerful'. If it were a samurai, it would commit seppuku for bringing shame to the Vornado family. Don't get them, even if they are free.

  • Ordered on Tuesday, received on Friday

Fast shipping from WA to semi rural SA.

They are Christmas gifts so I'm yet to see them out of the box or operating yet.

  • +9

Negative vote as I just received them and totally disappointed with the performance as it so weak totally unable to circulate air around me at all like being described in vornado website. Just lodged a complain to get refund for this piece of junk and i should have listened to feedbacks from other ozbargainers. Fingers cross vornado in kewdale WA will honour Australian consumer law and i will update the outcome.

    • +1

damn. i have some coming soon 😒

I expected being vornado it was safe

    • +1

Just got mine too these are a joke, very poor airflow. Only good use would be a white noise generator which I actually need to sleep. Disappointed as I have other Vornado fans.

      • as part of my update with return process, I dropped the item back to head office in WA after bei.ng confirmed by customer support . now waiting for them to process it . best to write and state your concerns and expectations of solution . before state consumer protection involvement

        • +1

Thanks appreciate the update, I’m not far from their offices so will email first and hopefully they’ll agree to take them back.

    • Just got my personal air circulators and they are indeed underwhelming. I can't believe vornado put their name to this piece of junk.

  • It's currently in the post shop. If i don't collect it will they just return it back and refuned me the money?

    • +1

Its not amazon or ebay easy return so they are kind of very strict with return policy.

    • +1

You can go to the post office and tell them you refuse take delivery of it and to send it back, Ive had to do that multiple times even when buying from overseas at the sellers request when they have sent the wrong product.

      • Great to know that thanks

  • +1

The return process is actually fairly smooth and simple, I sent them an email requesting refund because of the poor performance, they replied offered to replace those units. Sent a second email requesting refund as replacement will be just same bad performance, they gave me a PO Box address to return the fans and will process refund after they receive the package.
The problem is sending them back using their original shipping box will cost $32.50 standard shipping. Guess I'm better off just wrap them up and give away as Christmas gifts… At least they got a good brand printed on them.

    • +1

Yup its a kind of not a good taste to lost money on delivey fees. Now i know that i wont buy vornado any more.

  • My study is upstairs and it gets bloody hot during the hot days. My AC upstairs isn't great, can someone recommend something energy efficient that will help cool the room? it's not a massive area - probably around 20 sqm.

    • How about a $30-50 ($10-20 from marketplace) cheapo pedestal fan? Does the job for me.

  • Remove the delivery fee and I will give it a try.

  • +2

I just bought these for the wife for xmas. If there was an award for the most useless, under-engineered, poorly-conceived piece of landfill junk, these things would surely be in the running. Loud, useless tiny blades, and not even enough wind power on max speed to extinguish a match right in front of it. Just more junk to offload now.. what a poor use of one's time. Ok - rant over.
