  • Hi OP, are there any Reolink Wi-Fi cameras that can record to the RLN16-410 NVR wirelessly?

    • +1

All of them, presuming you have a wifi router on your home network.

I'm not sure about the RLN16, but with the RLN8, you can actually have one bonus channel via wi-fi, in addition to the usual 8 (or 16?) wired/wifi channels, plus of course the additional four feeds for dual lens or solar cams. I've got a number of RLN8's runnings with 8 wired cams + 1 wifi doorbell/cam + a couple of Argus solar cams. Great coverage for a mere 8 channel NVR.

        Cheers mate, appreciate your help

Decent cam, but same price as the RLC-823S2 has been previously available for - which has 16x zoom compared to 5x on this 823S1.

@dealbest - sorry I never responded to your PM asking for insights into which cams and deals posters may want to see more of. But in my experience, the main thing which has moved the needle on Reolink deals has been bang for buck rather than specific cameras or NVRs. Most of your deals are marginal, comparing poorly with AliExpress in the past, and frequently still costing more than Ebay, Amazon or Reolink themself have sold the same cams for under different promotions. If you want to get some traction, perhaps see if your relationship with Reolink can extract a discount code which may propel them back into the "bang for buck" champ space they have previously occupied before exiting the AliExpress platform and serving up lukewarm promos.

Edit - For example, this same camera - refurbished admittedly - can currently be had for $192 with code CBTOFF @ www.ebay.com.au/itm/396862043335 or www.ebay.com.au/itm/389313853478

Have purchased ~12 Reolink cams over the past 5 years. It's become much harder to recommend them recently. Prices are ~30% more expensive than what I paid on AliExpress just two years ago.

      • +2

Ditto. I've purchased more than 40 cams over the past two years, but have slowed my upgrade / expansion purchase program to just a couple CX820's in recent months since they aborted AliExpress and pushed up prices on other distribution channels. It's hard to see how they don't end up forfeiting considerable market share with their new direction…

        • +1

Same here. I've half the amount of your cameras but seeing the direction they are taking I'm prepared to jump ship.

      • +1

That's what I've noticed, too. But if this can zoom in to a car number plate on the street clearly, I'd buy it.

        • It certainly will. In the daytime.

The ever-popular Trackmix has similar capabilities, but since it also lacks ColorX, performance for both will wane in low light conditions and results will be mixed.

          • +1

@UncleRico: Night time is possible, the issue is you have to manually configure it to the point where all day time footage is too bright.

            • @samfisher5986: Yep. Number plates are hard, since by design they are made to reflect the maximum amount of light - which plays havoc with IR and regular light sources. Very hard to get the right settings and angle for 24hr usage, so that they receive suffiicent light and zoom at most times, without geenrating excessive reflection at others. This challenge is by no means unique to Reolink, but since most of their models don't do their best work at night (CX range excluded), this is one of the areas where they don't compare favourably to some other prosumer systems.

The 16X certainly can. If it's not too far away the 5X is quite capable too. I got both from Aliexpress in May of this year. Effectively paid AU$288.39 for the 16X and AU$215.46 for the 5X - after store and Aliexpress coupons, plus cashback.

Now that they have stopped selling on Aliexpress, don't expect prices to come down any time soon. Especially not with this rep who has a history of posting higher than average prices masquerading as deals.

Haha! Sometimes additional savings were to be had with 5% off coupons. But the rep would never mention them.

          can zoom in to

          You mean "Enhance. Enhance"

        What do you recommend then?

    • Where are these 16x cameras at?

  • Do these work with home assistant? After the headache of trying to integrate my Eufy cameras into HA, that's my main consideration now.

    • +2

Yes, all recent ONVIF-compatible Reolink cams do. I've never attempted it, but there's plenty of good information available on Reddit via the r/reolinkcams subreddit.

      • +1

        Thanks mate. Appreciate it

Reolink has platinum rated integration with home assistant. Some legend personally maintains it, and it's so rock solid that I would leave Frigate/Blue Iris behind if I didn't require a decent playback system.

      • That's amazing! Frustrated at the $1k of eufy gear i'm sitting on now.

  • Has anyone uelsed these with Dahua? (same as HKvision) I believe. I have a poe system and been looking for a cam with PTZ.

  • Where's all the 16x cameras at?

  • Any deals you can do on elite floodlight wifi cams OP @dealbest?
    https://reolink.com/au/product/elite-floodlight-wifi/

  • I want to put a camera in my garden then have it zoom in on each plant and send a photo to Gemini and ask what I'm doing wrong. I have home assistant for the Gemini part but what's a good camera for this purpose. My yard isn't big.
