Very nice! If only DDR5 wasn't so exxy… really want to move on from my 5900X..

    • -1

Moved just before the ridiculous prices atm (5800x). $420 64GB CL30

      • my $560 64GB 6600 CL32 is now over $1500

        timed it perfectly.

then when i saw the insane prices three weeks later I bought Micron shares at $220 - now $246 and continuing to rise.

        • Have the orange light for Dram on my asus motherboard. Maybe it was karma that my ram starting acting up. Luckily, when both individually tested, it boots but dual insertion does work…rma motherboard time.

          • @samkenny: for years i had used ASUS. but it was a long time between upgrades (socket 2011) and the value proposition was not as good, reviews were not great, as well as the community attitude had seemed to sour in the mean time. was planning on ASROCK but then they seemed to have issues with Zen5 boards so tried MSI. happy so far, touch wood.

            • @Antikythera: I have ended up on the B850M AORUS ELITE WIFI6E ICE. Both Ram are working as intended. But, that was the case for Asus until a week later I got screwed…

    • +1

Is it worth the upgrade though? 5900x is still a beast

      • +1

Yeah he could hold out to AM6 probably.

      • +1

I also moved when the prices were rock bottom. 2TB SSD for $150 and 64GB DDR5-6400 for $250 lol!

Performance wise it was a lateral move for my applications. Productivity matched the 5900X but gaming did improve. That’s it.

  • +2

glad i built my computer months ago when ram was still cheap.

  • Amazing motherboard, perhaps the best for price/value for X870s.

Someone, please correct me if I am wrong here:

Is this AMAZON US or HAUL? Because I have been cancelling multiple international orders lately after noticing shipper/sender is actually Haul and not what Amazon advertises on the main page of the product.

Check your ORDERS HISTORY and then check the receipt and see if it's actually shipping via Amazon US, or via HAUL.

I really hope we can get Consumer Protection and force Amazon AU to start showing the correct shipper/seller on Amazon AU for international orders. Amazon is basically hiding 3rd party sellers from Haul, as if they are being shipped and sold by Amazon themselves (because they hold the products in their warehouses).

But yeah the only way to tell now if you order from Amazon UK, US, DE, etc etc if it is coming directly from Amazon or a 3rd Party, is checking the receipt to see if it is coming from Amazon Haul

    • +2

It is Haul mate, I've ordered this board on the 5th and it got shipped today for delivery on the 15th.
And I agree l, haul delivery and even billing is garbage

      • Did it at least look new when you received it? Or did it have scratches or hints it was used?

Yeah, from a while back, I always look at the shipper after buying the item from an international Amazon warehouse that is not AU. Just to make sure.

        • I should receive it on the 15th, will let you know then

      • Agreed it's absolute trash. Originally the Tomahawk board I ordered on November 21st was from what looked to be a US computer parts dealer, not Amazon/Amazon Haul and yet somehow they ended up fulfilling the order.

The board won't be delivered until the 23rd Dec. A little more than a month after I ordered it and paid for expedited shipping.

I'm a bit miffed at it all.

    • +3

This happened to me too on a recent motherboard purchase, which said it was shipped by Amazon US. Once I had placed the order and checked order details, it now said Shipped by Haul. The actual product listing still says Amazon US however.
Luckily I caught this straight away and cancelled my order. Decided to pay slightly more for local stock, but save myself the hassle of dealing with any potential Haul shenanigans.

      • +4

Yep, more people need to know about this honestly. Every single international order from Amazon has to be checked after purchase to make sure it is not actually from a 3rd party seller via Haul.

    • +2

I had this happen with a motherboard I ordered recently. I cancelled, then the shipper changed to Amazon US. So I uncancelled, and the shipper changed back to Haul.

Anyway it arrives this week, fingers crossed it's legit.

      • Looks like I'm returning the motherboard. It has been severely mishandled at some stage of the process. Looks to be a legit board, but the box was pretty beat up around the corners, the plastic wrapper around the board is pretty torn up, and the IO shield is bent. I'm worried there could be additional damage to the board that I can't see. It probably works fine, but I don't want to risk it.

        • Was it this particular board (X870) that you ordered?

          • @snowman3k: Nope it was a b550. Personally I'll be avoiding Amazon US for a while.

            • @yobeets: Sorry to hear that mate, that is very unfortunate. Perhaps pay a premium for something local.

              • @snowman3k: I would, the problem is local places only seem to stock low end b550 boards. I've refunded and I'm trying a board from Amazon Germany instead.

    • -1

The only thing that matters is if its brand new or not, warranty is covered by Amazon

Dunno what the fuss is about when so many people here buy from freaking Aliexpress

      • The problem is the time it takes to receive and then to return to international. Then buy a replacement (likely again from international, due to prices here for motherboards). So it's a matter of cutting time by ensuring what you are ordering is coming from Amazon and not a 3rd party international seller by checking the receipt after purchasing in order history.

Otherwise, yes, warranty wise there is no difference. If wait time is not an issue.

        • -1

The return process will be the same, wont make a difference. It still needs to be shipped out and you can just ask for a refund or credit back to your amazon account.

  • +1

    @netsurfer
Shipper / Seller on the listing shows Amazon US.

@ThatsCheap stated that the only was to see if it is coming directly from Amazon or a 3rd Party, is checking the receipt to see if it is coming from Amazon Haul

Which means from what I understand you will need to order and pay for the product to get the receipt to check where it is coming from.

Checking the listing will not help to find out where it is coming from.

Correct me if I am wrong.

    • how did you find cheapest item?

  • +3

I bought this twice in October from same Amazon US seller for around $420 Aud and both time item came was used. First had bent pins and second had thermal paste on cpu socket and it didnt boot. Had the hassle of returning twice. Couldnt be bother and just bought local after refunds

  • How do you find these deals on Amazon US? Intentionally looking or just coincidence when looking for a product you wanted?

    • +1

just go to amazon.com instead of amazon.com.au

  • LPT: Get the 870e

  • Also consider the 850B tomahawk max ($400 local shipped). Almost identical except no thunderbolt port and one of the M2 slots has lower max speed.

  • +2

Price dropped further btw, if combined with Arthur Tricks the Tooth Fairy, the current total is $400

  • Too bad it's like $1600 for 64GB DDR5 RAM now :(

    • +1

I-tech have Kingston DDR5 64gb on preorder right now for $820. I've put a 32gb kit on order with them and nothing has been cancelled yet but don't know when it'll be in neither.

  • Great motherboard, lots of M2 slots, 40Gb USBC ports, 5Gb LAN.

  • Anyone bought can verify if this is HAUL? The price looks too good to pass and I am wanting to pull the trigger.

    • Mohamed S indicated his one was HAUL.

      • Correct, it says Amazon US but after it's bought changed to haul global

        • Ah gotcha, thank you! Let us know if it is any good once you receive it.

      • is HAUL good or not good?

        • Not good is my understanding, but the MSI B850 boards seemed legit from the other day as some of the guys just got theirs delivered.

          • @snowman3k: what is bad about HAUL?
so are you buying or skip?

would it better to just get a cheap B650 board?

what CPU and GPU do have or planning to get to do your PC build?
are you buying RAM or got a kit already?

            • @pinkybrain: I dont have any experience with Haul, but based on the comments above, sounded like you may end up with a used board. For $400, I might take the risk and try it out. Afterall, I am sure I can still return through Amazon, just a hassle though.

CPU is Ryzen 7700, GPU is getting delivered Asus Prime 9070 and RAM is corsair vengeance 32gb cl30 which was bought in July before the price spike (paid around $180 from amazon at the time), so I was lucky with that purchase. The CPU is just a placeholder for now may go either 7800X3D or 9800X3D depending on whatever deal there is.

            • @pinkybrain: can you put a price list cost of all the parts you bought?

did you get those prices from all the ozbargain deals or some you just bought on your own?

The CPU is just a placeholder for now may go either 7800X3D or 9800X3D depending on whatever deal there is.

do you need the 7800X3D or 9800X3D for gaming or just for apps?

from what I seen it seems like X3D mainly benefits only a some games that a CPU demanding while most games are more GPU demanding

              • +1

                @pinkybrain: CPU 7700 - $258 from Aliexpress
                RAM Corsair Vengeance 6000mhz CL30 - $180 from Amazon (though in June/July)
                PSU Corsair RM850x - $190
Mobo - this X870 (regarded as the best value for money from many reviews)
GPU - Asus Prime 9070 - $849 (still waiting for eGift card of $50 promo)
Case - Yet to purchase but I am thinking Fractal North
                SSD - I got existing Kingston KC3000s

The CPU and GPU will be upgraded whenever there is a good deal but it is important the mobo is of good quality so it can handle almost CPU/GPU you throw at it for the next couple of years.

                • @snowman3k: how many GB of ram did you get?

is X870E better or much difference?

                  • @pinkybrain: Just 32gb, in hindsight should've gone for 64gb.

On paper X870E is better but it is daisy-chained with 2 chipset vs 1 on X870. X870 is already more than what I need. In fact, B850 is already enough if you dont need USB4.

  • Happy to report mine got delivered today (bought on the 5th) and all seems in order. The mb antistatic bag was sealed and no bent pins or signs of previous usage, all the accessories in thier original sealed bags and not opened. Happy customer, will probably put it in over the weekend

That is awesome! Thank you so much for letting me know. Really appreciate it. Just purchased, and after adding the Arthur Toothfairy book, the total came to $395!

      • Nice. Enjoy your new build.

      • Reporting back as I got mine delivered today (bought on the 11th) and it does seem to be all brand new like you said with all the accessories sealed. The mobo bag was also sealed with no sign of the seal sticker being broken. No bent pins at all and the board itself is a beauty, definitely a heavy boi. Will be happily putting it in the Fractal North case once it arrives! Thanks for your feedback and really appreciated @Mohamed S
