This only applies if you choose the 12 or 24-month repayment plan.

  • I'm waiting for my finalised bill where I was advised I will be charged for the $499 outright (no additional costs) plus a finalised NBN plan payout based on days connected if less than a month connected.

I’m genuine curious why people gets eero wifi router (compared to relatively cheaper Asus brand), I tried the earlier edition from other ISP promo and I found it a bit meh, it’s relatively limited functionality router…

Unless because I’m a bit tinkerer and expect more from it…

    • I went from a gen3 Telstra modem (rooted) to a eero 7 pro.
I think the wifi is worse, my smart lights and plugs now have a delay when I press off, and the overall WiFi speed is around the same.

      I got it as I wanted to try a 2gb nbn plan which I still haven’t done….
For $150 on fbmp that all it’s worth tbh. Given a gen3 modem is $20-$50

Sometimes one just wants to plug-play without too much techie tinkering. Don't get me wrong, I'm in the IT network game and whilst the UDR7 is a quality unit, the W-Fi seemed not as strong as the eero M7.
I like how the ISP/RSP bundle the subscriptions to obtain additional settings, I'm OK with that too (and yes it may already be part of the plan cost), but its one thing less I need to subscribe and manage separately.

  • Is it worth spending 499 on this router ? By itself it would not be sufficient for a home right ?

    • Probably yes? Given the >$1k RRP. These OOB mesh system do work to a certain extent.

Probably no? If you're a tinker. There are ways to achieve better performance/coverage with less cost.

      • One wouldn't be sufficient

        • I have 2 x eero M7 and 1 x eero Pro 7 to cover a 700sqm floor space, terrific from front to back of house.

    • Id say the Ubiquiti Dream Router 7 seems like a better deal, as it's been around this price or lower recently, assuming you don't need the home assistant/zigbee features.

      • I did look into this unit, the UDR7 shows poor Wi-Fi range over a larger area, whereas the eero Max7 has a wider range.

  • only the router ? is it better to get a few 6E mesh instead?

  • They never put offers on the 6E eeros

  • They had a multi hour outage yesterday and repeatedly lied that it was NBN's fault, before eventually admitting it was theirs.

    I'm cancelling. Never again.
