One for the "craft" beer drinkers. Backpacking on this deal
As there, you must click through this deal to get the $10 off. Then you can select any store with stock, it doesn't have to be a converted First Choice.

It's a multi-buy deal. You need to add 2 for the price to reflect $30 for the two 4-packs, which then comes down to $20.

Great price for a nice hazy at 6% ABV, although I take points off for 4 Pines no longer being independent. Be sure to support your local independent breweries over the festive season too!

Other notable deals:
- Pensilva Shiraz or Melbec 3 bottles for $20

Might be a good deal on 4 pines, but you offend actual craft beer producers by calling this craft. It’s not any more craft than Toohey’s at this point.

    • +15

      But it tastes much better

    • -1

That's as easy as offending vegans

      • +25

If you like 4 Pines, drink it. Didn't say it was shit. But calling a mass brewed, mass marketed, previously AB InBev and currently Asahi owned brand "craft" does a disservice to a number of brands that do take the time, effort, and expense to brew beer that actually meets some semblance of a definition of craft.

        • +1

what is the cut off number for craft vs mass produced, is it litres, cans, or stubbies produced in a year ? Is it if the company is publicly traded on ASX or if it has a sole director and he has all the shares ? When small brewers first started, they offered alternatives e,g hoppier beers to main stream beer, now the multinationals have many smaller labels aka “craft” to fill that market. I buy on the taste I like and price and really care who made it.

          • +3

@garage sale: 10,000 beers per hectare or less

          • +1

@garage sale: Fair questions and what you're describing is the Sorites paradox
            - If a heap is reduced by a single grain at a time, at what exact point does it cease to be considered a heap?

I'd say "craft"'s probably the wrong term used here, "independent brewer" would be better, but for a lot of people independent brewer is synonymous with craft.

For me that's saying 51% has to be privately owned by the brewers / founders or alike
Other locations that's 75% or more
Typically when brewers get bought out, they're no longer in control of how it's brewed
Large companies are making financial decisions. How do we use cheaper hops without majority customers noticing?

I think for people like OhThatsATree it's an ethical choice.
You have small startups taking big financial risks, experimenting with new ideas, and putting in a lot of hard work
Some do well, some do poorly
Then you get a large corporation saying "Hang on, our profits are down, lets use our capital to copy them and boost revenue"
I get it, a company is usually there to make money, they're trying to make money
But now the underdog goes bust (e.g. Wayward brewing) or they sell out (4 Pines)
So now you've lost that craft aspect of it where it's been a labour of love, and it's just a formula to be optimised and sold

      • The offended vegan is a trope.

        • -6

          Or an ignorant cliche/stereotype.

      • +4

        Clearly proven correct lol

          • +2

@Igaf: Bit of an uphill battle to contest vegans being offended by things (as valid as it may be), but hey alls well for a good laugh in my books. Life is too short to not laugh at things.

            • -5

@Xizor: How may vegans do you know? As I said, comments like that are stereotypical and as most stereotypes go it's likely based on spoonfed ignorance. What's your demographic so we can hone our comedy and provide you with a laugh in future?

              • +3

@Igaf: I think we've found our easily offended individual. What's you're demographic so we can update our records and not offend you in future.
I think you need a few of these beers and to chill a bit lol. Hope they get delivered soon.

                • -4

@Tamagotchi Breeder: We've? It's obvious you find comfort in numbers but show a tiny bit of spine and speak for yourself son. It's an anonymous website.
I think I've found your demographic.

You got me though. I am offended by self-inflcited ignorance and stupidity.

                  • +2

@Igaf: Way to reinforce the stereotype.🤣

                    • -2

@JohnHowardsEyebrows: Tama bro gone looking for a deal on vertebrae?

                      Way to reinforce the stereotype

You'll have to explain the "logic" to me kiddo. I'm a vegan.

      • I know!. They're always so offended by a little animal abuse… If animals didn't want to be tortured and killed, they shouldn't be so tasty! Stupid vegans…

        • -1

          Exactly.

          • @Big L: Irony's obviously not your strong suite. The question is why are you so easily offended/triggered that you'd drop a puerile stereotypical slur in an Ozbargain deal for beer? Rhetorical question.

            • @Igaf: Irony is thinking that I'm offended or triggered when the joke was aimed at a craft beer drinker's comment, yet here you are.

You and your friend's responses show that it's not a stereotype.

              Have a dull day.

              • @Big L: Your response to your equally small-minded mate immediately above was also a "joke" and not a reflection of your real opinion I guess? And yet here you are with this confirmation in your very next sentence: "You and your friend's responses show that it's not a stereotype."

That my taking the piss out of your stereotype "joke" by saying I'm a vegan went completely over your head is no surprise whatsoever.

Seems vegans in general push your buttons for some reason. I'd bet your tent on the fact that there are far fewer easily offended vegans than there are triggered dipsticks on this website.

                • @Igaf: That's your mate, not mine. Your superior and pious attitude when belittling other people gave me cause to believe that you're a vegan, perhaps a cycling vegan female given your moniker and underlying anger issues.

                  Good luck.

                  • +1

@Big L: Aw shucks, I apologise. You really are more sensitive than I thought. In hindsight, that really is quite humorous.

                  • @Big L: It is true that vegans are superior. In the way that someone who doesn't kick dogs for fun is superior to someone who does.

                    • @deejaygrub: Judging by your cliched comments here more than 75% of the population is superior. Either that or Ozbargain is exempt from Albo's ban.
The analogy isn't even in the ballpark, try a different LLM next time.

                      • @Igaf: Right now only 1% of the world are vegan. So 1% are superior. 99% of people make excuses for their animal cruelty. That's what ChatGPT says anyway…

                        • @deejaygrub: CGPT would have a clue how many vegans there are in the world. You appear to be prevaricating, or haven't you learned to use /s yet?

                          • @Igaf: No…. no sarcasm… would you disagree that you are one of 4:
                            1. You are vegan
                            2. You have no problem participating in and contributing to animal cruelty for your personal gratification
                            3. You are suffering from some kind of cognitive dissonance
                            4. Ignorant to the horrendous suffering caused by animal agriculture

                            Which one are you?

                            • @deejaygrub: I was referring to this comment. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/17187701/redir
Having had a quick glance at some of your other comments I concluded it was indeed sarcasm. I wondered why BigL said you were my mate.

I'm not a vegan. The best I can say for myself (not much in this instance I agree) is that after watching Dave Hughes talk about his job in an abattoir I made certain adjustments to my diet.

                              • @Igaf: I thought the sarcasm was pretty self-explanatory — looks like I need to up my game!

Good on you for connecting the dots and making some changes — that’s more than most. Hopefully, those changes keep spreading to all forms of animal abuse and exploitation.

      • @Big L
?That's as easy as offending vegans

        or Carnivores (lol) or crosslifters!!

    • Personally I'd call it "commercial craft beer". And a good beer, good strength too.

      • +1

Yeah. There needs to be a term that differentiates beers like 4 Pines and Balter to beers like VB or Tooheys New. I’m ok with “craft” beer, and maybe we call the others “independent”?

        • yeah, to me craft is more a style of beer made in smaller volumes due to limited market for that particular flavour vs mainstream that sells in large volumes and caters for a broader taste demographic. Beer is an industrial process, just comes down to the volumes you make and economies of scale for distribution.

          • @garage sale: The "style" of the beer is already addressed. It's called a Hazy Pale Ale. VB and Tooheys being lagers. There's your differentiation in style.

"Craft" is meant to differentiate the brewery itself, which honestly usually differentiates between taste and quality amongst the styles. A 4 Pines Hazy Pale Ale is a far cry from other Hazy Pales from independents like Mountain Culture, Seeker, One Drop, Range. And there's a different why beers like 4 Pines and just about everything else sold at Liquorland are so much cheaper than true craft beers.

    • 4 pines has always been pretty yuk, snobbery aside.

I'm sure it's more craft than Tooheys new, haha

Craft = sweet and trying too hard usually. Only good for a couple where as a lager or session is a lot easier to drink (like for a session) and not as bad headaches.

Stone & Wood and Baltee has lasted the test of time and they've got it fairly right. Wouldn't pay extra for a lot of the fancy beers.

  • +1

    Great price, thanks OP

  • +5

Shows $24 (once the $10 is taken off) for 2 x 4 packs for me.

    • Same. I can see 4 pines pacific ale can (6 pack) is 2 for $30

    • Same .. still.a decent price

    • Same. For me, the only 2 Multi buy options are Pacific Ale and New World Pale Ale.

    • Same, not sure how the OP is getting $20.

  • +2

    Thannks OP! I placed 2x orders = 16 cans for $40… bargain!

    • Just did the same, nice, many thanks for this OP - great find!

    • Which store/s? FC and LL?

      • I live on the central coast. Seems to be plenty of stock up here.

  • +1

I guess the 2 for 30 varies between stores. Got 2 X Pirate Life South Coast Pale. Alright for $2.50 a pop.

  • The payment attempt was unsuccessful (ref# 66402780)

    • I have been ordering several drinks since this morning as the code seems unlimited usage without problems lol, in time to stock up for holiday season.

      • How is it not working for me.

        • Just tried again now and working, 8 tins for $20. Good thing, 3 shops around marrickville lol

  • +12

Sorry but I can't look past the opening line of this one and the absolute sacrilege that has befallen the term craft beer. 4 Pines was bought out by venture capital almost a decade ago and bounced between CUB & Asahi. There is nothing left in this business that could even remotely be considered "craft" in my eyes.

$20 is a great price for 8 tins though.

    Respectfully signed, a homebrewer.

    • +1

You'll see I mentioned that also

      • +2

Yep good shout for sure. Sorry, I think I'm just triggered every time I go to the "craft beer" fridge at the bottleo and get faced with a wall of multinationals.

        • +2

4P at least began as craft, not like the fake breweries the supermarkets have created Tinnies, Lorry Boys etc

  • How does this work. All I see is 1 for $21 so 2=$42, less $10 = $32, or do some stores have it for one for $15?.
Edit: Ah, its when there are "2 for $xx.xx" specials showing. In my case, the local didn't have a special on Hazy.

  • just got the last 2 x 4packs at Nth Sydney… thanks OP.

  • +2

Been trying to get this to work for months in SA.
Doesn't work. Chose an ex FC in Vic, and the promo t&Cs come up for the $10 off $30. But when I chose my local, the offer doesn't apply.

    • State law prohibits it?

  • +1

just grabbed 2 x 4packs of Mountain Culture Status Quo Pale Ale Can for $30 using the same method… sweet az.

    • +1

Nice drop, just wish they weren't the silly 355ml cans. It's expensive stuff so give us the full 375ml! I usually grab a case when BWS CB deals are 40% off or higher!

  • Beer bargain

  • Thanks Op

  • +1

Targeted - does not work in SA

  • Thanks. Got two packs and two wines. Got greedy and went for a fourth order, HopHog for $55 with coupon, payed PayPal and it reverted to $65 taken from the account!

  • Has anyone in SA ever been able to apply the $10 off $30 discount?

  • +1

Thanks OP - got 2x 6pk of the Pacific Ale for $20

    • Me too
      12 x pacific ale for $20 is a steal

  • Yep got 8 for $20. Thanks OP.

  • Just put two seperate orders in now and on the third it rejected the code. Seems like the cracked down on this jsut now!

  • +1

Grand Marnier half litre for $39 (=$54.60 700ml), or 2x700ml Disaronno for $90 are very good deals if anyone's looking for gifts.
Via the FCL website of course.

  • Yup - no deal coming up for SA.

  • +1

Solid deal for Tooheys Old Dark. 2x6 for 22$ making it less than 2 for bottle.

  • +1

$10 off $30 transaction not valid from my end anymore.

    • Just worked for me in VIC

  • Anyone care to share tasting notes on the different 4 Pines beers. I see New World pale ale is 2 for $35 for 6 packs. Less $10 is $2.08 per can. Pacific Ale and Pale Ale are under $2 per can.

  • +2

I think you mean piggy-backing, not backpacking.

    • You're right. Although they both ride on the back

  • +2

    2 x 6 pack Mountain Goat Summer Ale is $35 less $10 = $25 Bargain!

    • I got this last week too. When I first had this goat a while ago, I thought it was the nicest goat. Now it’s just a cold goat. Still ok.

  • Don't forget the 1.5% cashback!
    https://www.topcashback.com.au/liquorland/

  • Thanks OP. Managed 2 x orders on the laptop and pushed another one through on the mobile. Legend.

  • +2

Thanks OP! Picked up 4 pines pacific ale (6 pack) x2 for $20 all up.

    • Got this one too thx

  • +1

Cheers OP, ordered a couple sixers for a mate for Xmas. Haven't had a drink in 4 or 5 years, an 10 bucks is all I wanna pay for a six pack. Living in the past :'(

    • I hear ya. More than that for a bl..dy schooner at most places I visit these days. I've never partaken, I'm patient as well as selective.

  • "Craft" or not, still a nice beer!

  • worked for me. bought 2 x 4 packs and then did it again - total cost $40

  • Can't seem to get it to work for me using C&C at either a LL Warehouse or normal LL.
    Both have stock.
    Promo TAKE10 not accepted.

    Works now.
I went back and clicked the original promo link and saw the price in cart changed.

  • wait..you can use this multiple times?

    • The $10 off $30 promo is meant to be up to 5 redemptions.

But since I posted that original deal a few months back noone has been able to figure how they track you. Also seems a bit inconsistent i.e. stops working for some people and not others.

The promo is meant to run until Feb though

  • I can't get this to work :(

    • You only click the original posted link

  • Nice, placed 2 orders for the beers and the 2 wines mentioned. Seems to have gone through fine.

  • Is this really considered a good deal? … It's equivalent to $60 for a 24pk case. I suppose that's an okay price for this definitely non-craft beer, but I wouldn't call it a bargain - Which just highlights how absolutely outrageous the normal price is.

  • Plenty in stock in Perth
