good to get a edu.au email for student perks

    • +5

This won't give an edu.au email.

If there a free course giving you one?

        • +1

There's a number of free TAFE courses in different states, does vary by state and usually you have to be a resident of that state.
Idk how long the email would stay active if you enroll then withdraw before the census date.

      • +1

        what would?

        • +4

I have a permanent utas.edu.au email address that I got by graduating from a remote/online course offered by the University of Tasmania, which was free to undertake.

    Im missing these one:
    * How to use AI to write support plans for NDIS participants that do not strip them of basic human rights and dignity
    * Centrelink AI made decisions that are just and human centred
    * How to use AI in genocide responsively (written by Palmer Luckey)

  • Maybe the ones running this site should upskill because this site is horrible

Lol honestly, it’s giving “Microsoft engineer with a mystery accent telling everyone to learn English first before touching a project” vibes. Cute confidence… but yeah nah.

These courses aren’t your Angular/JavaScript/TypeScript/Node vibe to magically turn someone into a frontend queen or backend king. They’re AI and Cybersecurity, darling — page-load hiccups and messy DOMs don’t scare those worlds. 😘

And let’s be real… half the chaos comes from testing teams anyway. So many orgs have testers who couldn’t spot a bug if it winked at them. Meanwhile the qualified talent? Sitting at home, unemployed and traumatised.

    • Any idea will these courses be free again around december 2026?

      • It’s long running so hopefully yes? Your best bet is to sing up for all free courses now . You’re thinking about long future lol nobody knows what would the world be also lol

        • Lol Thanks. I wqs assuming it was like one time enrolment per course with like a set expiry/ deadlien to finish the self paced course

  • Can VIC residents get these too?

  • Can we just add all of these to our cart, complete "purchase" and then complete then whenever we want? Or is there due dates for each course

    • +2

4 moths due date so you can add all at a time in cart and purchase together.

Duration 4 months within which you should complete each of these courses

  • +1

Can we do this while in another TAFE course? I'm in diploma of IT (database) next year.

Trying to get into data analytics or database administrator. So maybe the data analytics, database and Linux course?

    • +1

Yes, I enrolled in these, got 1 to go still. Since then have enrolled in a short course at a local TAFE and also in self paced course at a different TAFE.

  • Do these provide any real world purpose?

    • +1

AI is a hype not provide real world purpose lol

  • Thanks OP, enrolled n couple of courses.

    • +1

Enroll all all free lol don’t worry whether you do or not think later lol

  • Do you get any badge or certificate from TAFE after finishing this which can be used ?

    • +1

You can add them to your LinkedIn… /s

      • Debating out whether to smash of a couple of these, starting my grad role in Feb, doing nothing until then… but will it just be a waste of time… hmm

    • +1

If you click on the course and scroll down to the bottom you will see this:

"Your certificate will be available to download on completion of all modules and the feedback activity."

So you do get a cert…. but does anyone know if it's like those certs from credly that have a credenital ID to verify that the course has been completed?

      • Give that a crack and see it’s after all 3 hours course lol

  • +3

to be absolutely clear for those yet to enroll, here's an example course:

    Duration: 3-5 hours
    Delivery: Online (self-paced)
Access period: 4 months of access from the day of enrolment

    • Self-paced is the best type of learning these days

      • Do you expect to learn much more than a few buzzwords in 3-5 hours? Maybe enough jargon and context so that your eyes don't glaze over in a meeting.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that there is an effort to educate people and the fact that it's not behind a paywall is absolutely super. Just have realistic expectations about what you can learn in a half-day course.

  • Is this e leaning material or is this one you can have to attend classes at local tafe college??

  • -1

It says no billing info! What is this error? How to play around it?

  • This is worth a smirk:

Introduction to Linux. … delivered in partnership with TAFE NSW, Microsoft, the University of Technology Sydney and Macquarie University.

Making sure that all those computers that won't run Win11 don't turn into e-Waste? Given the current silicon shortage it makes sense to make that hardware work a bit longer.

  • +1

For ease of ordering.. Adding the 'Bundle: All IATD Microskill courses' adds all the courses..

  • Has anybody outside of NSW enrolled successfully?

  • +1

Just going through the list. The AI courses are actually pretty good. It compliments well with technical ones from MS because it's written by Ms and Uni
