WHELP.

Admins please be kind. Long time lurker, short time poster.

Have been looking into this deal since @indecisive 1 released it here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/878596

In essence, trying to get a cheap monitor to fill some space in my very small study and due to my small eyes needed something with a high definition so I could get past the myopia on my goggles.

$1619.40 on the Samsung govt website

Got it down to $1514 after a 5% discount (first time buyer) + picking up a monitor from the bin - they give $25 for it.

Many, many thanks to indecisive 1 - have finally managed to get a monitor that hopefully works.

To add to the confusion I have actually got no idea if this is a good deal or not with the WOLEDQHBTI monitor thing so please let me know if I haven't bought the right thing. Will essentially be using it for office work primarily/watching youtube cat videos.

My heart skipped a beat for a second when I saw $15 in the title for a 49" monitor!
Then I thought it probably was a pricing error.
Then I saw your 'L' plates. Fix them title yo! 😁

Shat myself when I saw $15

Was getting extremely excited about a $15 ultrawide!

  • Any experience if work email isn't .gov.au, please?

Our work email is .com.au :(

    • I think you can still get it but I'm not sure about the pricing.

Why buy a projector when you can get 12x 32 inch tv and make a great panel?

Not even in the same postcode of comparisons.

If someone wants to increase their workflow, 2 monitors are usually a great substitute. If someone wants immersive gaming for first person simulators, there's VR for $600-$1000 that's high res.

This isn't a good enough price for dual QHD for the sake of a seamless screen… chase down a 42" or 48" OLED TV sale for under $900 if refresh rate is a lesser concern.

        So many good options…

    • cos someone might want 2 of these as dual monitor setup

      • And if they do, and a 2x2 array equivalent from a 4K TV at 42" doesn't suit their needs, then I would still recommend they wait a couple of weeks and get something like this in the $1000-$1150 range.

But what you're describing in a gaming context is typically better executed in VR, even if the game itself isn't built for it.

    • Those alienware 27 inch 4k OLED monitors seem to have pretty significant issues just fyi.

They have been fixed in a revision, hence the stock of refurbs. My point on pricing remains valid regardless due to a huge variety of options that make this deal uncompetitive despite the ultrawide masterclowns.

If that was your reason for any negative vote, you should probably revoke it.

        • Oh where is any official information about this revision. Would love a link.

          I haven't voted on anything.

@Kool Gui 42069: They have quietly contacted everyone who purchased it, presumably it is only sold directly via Dell. There's a few reddit posts about it, and te working revision is A2.

@jasswolf: Seems like it's still luck of the draw if you get the new revision. Does not seem worth the risk with them giving second hand refurbs if yours breaks.

Would be nice to have a gen 4 OLED over these older ones.

  • Question to all - is this a good buy or should I just have gotten the G91F:
