Next best deal after G3223Q for $500 that was years ago.
VA is not IPS but contrast is better.
Disclaimer: I never had it, I have G3223Q, but this looks like a solid monitor.

Possible coupon DNCPAU11 to get $443, from this comment.

Short version:
G3223Q = flat 32” 4K 144Hz IPS gaming monitor
S3225QS = flat 32” 4K 120Hz VA productivity / mixed-use monitor

Here’s the practical diff:

Screen finish
• Both are matte / anti-glare, not glossy.

G3223Q
• Panel: Fast IPS
• Contrast: ~1000:1 (typical IPS) – blacks look more grey in a dark room.
• Brightness: ~400 nits SDR, a bit punchier.

S3225QS
• Panel: VA
• Contrast: around 3000:1, noticeably deeper blacks.
• Brightness: spec ~300 nits, real-world peaks a bit higher but still below the G3223Q.
• Has Speakers

Net effect:
G3223Q = better viewing angles and color consistency;
S3225QS = nicer contrast for movies / dark content but more VA “glow” and narrow angles.

    Good on you :) Feels like OzB is allergic to VA screens.

      Everything is a bargain at a certain price point whether it's an IPS or a VA. Question is, do you think this is a bargain at $499.40?

      For example, you can get a LG 32" 4K 144Hz VA for $499, which has higher refresh rate and USB C with 65w power delivery.

        Do I think it's a bargain? No, perhaps an ok deal for those chasing 4K on a panel that's got better than average contrast and picture quality?

        I do a fair amount of photo/video work, so IPS is pretty much a default for viewing angles and colour accuracy.

        That being said, if I really had to buy a VA panel at $499 I'd pick this over the LG. Most of us don't even have a card that runs 4k at a high enough frame rate to matter, so 144Hz vs 120Hz is kinda moot (at least to me anyway, some may be able to run it that high and can tell the difference). For everyday videos on Youtube it's going to be at 60Hz anyway. For gaming all these monitors are going to blur at higher frame rates. So on balance, I'd take the Dell for better contrast and colour accuracy.

        The 65w power delivery is very nice though. Just not the right use case for me… my laptop is already connected to a Lenovo dock, and my desktop setup already has a powerboard with usb-c.

    This is standard price and it's been this price for quite a while, not a deal… Besides, the DNCPAU11 still works on it bringing it down to 443 but it was cheaper before.

    • Lowest I see searching OzB is $465.56 with 15% off Member Purchase Program and it was Expired. Bad day?

        Just because it wasn't posted on OzBargain doesn't mean there wasn't a better price, people just didn't post it as a deal or it was posted in comments instead.

          do you mean people as in you?

          • -1

            @nerd1: Yeah, because Rtings reviews weren't out and there wasn't really many good reviews and I couldn't justify spending over the 27" that was going for ~330. That and as far as I can remember, there were better 32" deals out there.

    • How do you define 'standard price'?

    S3225QS is not curved. Dell currently don't sell a curved 4K VA 32" panel.. which I think is an odd omission.

    They used to, the S3221QS (I have it). I prefer the trade off in viewing angles of VA to its much better blacks.

    • I blame Gpt! Thanks :)

  • Older port specs (no HDMI 2.1 or DP 2), no USB-C.

    Decent offer but waiting for a deal on this for the desktop
