Only 4GB of ram, so probably only suitable for light use, targeted at students or similar. Otherwise looks like decent value/specs. Unfortunately the 256GB/8GB variant is almost double the price ($274).

          i totally agree - what do you recommend in lieu?

          I know i can prob just get an android tablet, enable it to hear out for 'hey google' and it should be able to just still control all my lights/ run timers / let me know weather summary etc but i kind of feel the experience would be a bit janky (not that the current state of google home devices is not already janky).

            @Jimothy Wongingtons: I dont recommend anything, moving house soon im going to start all over with Home Assistant and some local llm stuff. Sick of the unreliablity and confusing and stupid menus.

            Ill probably keep a few of the screens etc for youtube etc (find phone is useful when it ecides to recognise my voice), and the chromecasts/tvs but most everything else - doorbells, cameras, wifi setup etc etc are going.

          I have a smart switch (on at 20% battery, off at 80% battery) and the USB cable running from back/top of fridge to hinge side, and magnet the tablet to fridge. Not the prettiest but pretty well hidden with some margnets and photos.

      Pretty sure this model has the matt, paper-like screen type which is great for ebooks/pdf/comics etc.

      The matte screen is nice, and the reading mode changes the screen colours. It may be uncomfrotable to hold though since its a bigger tablet.

    I have a Wiim Pro setup with my speakers in the living room - Would there be any way to utilise this as like a…..media hub screen or something for the Wiim?

    For example the tablet sits there on a stand or something and you go over the to the tablet - open your media app of choice and connect it to the wiim

    I guess just use a phone….I think I answered my own question. I just want things to look cool :(

    I bought a 16" touch (free on ali with coins and credit) and note 20 (512gb/5G variant $80 on marketplace) and honestly better than most tablets

    This tablet has the same CPU that my phone has the TCL 50 Pro 5G NXTPAPER. It's not the fastest processor in the world and it struggles a bit in some CPU demanding apps. It struggles like crazy in the BOM app especially when i tap on the weather map. It's got a bit of a weak processor but i've seen a lot worse.

        The tablet model may have been released then but the CPU which comes in it was released on April 2024 and even then it was a lower end CPU. It's a weak CPU. So it's a slower tablet computer even but it's running Android 15. My smartphone has this same CPU and although it was upgraded to Android 15 it seems a bit laggy at times in CPU demanding apps and even the Android interface some times.

        So this tablet is only suited for lighter use.

      i really tried to transition to tablet based note taking exclusively for 2025 but in the end i just couldnt break free of pen + paper, the og goat. You could spend a bomb on latest ipad pro and pencil but if you cant change work flow, it probably is not going to work out.

      Yeah for sure. You are just going to run into problems if you are trying to run multiple apps/process (eg lots of Chrome tabs), or playing more complex games.

      It has a far better processor so power consumption is going to be so much better, but as others have said, RAM is going to be the limiting factor.

        The CPU is low end and slow. So I'm not really sure that it's much of an upgrade. I know because i own a smartphone with the Dimensity 6300 processor but with 8GB RAM and it's no performer. Every thing you do with it shows lag.

    I got 8gb one, its decent but as soon as you play games it doesnt handle as well with some lagging and freezing compared to my s23 (same game)

            The difference between the CN and global tablet is the ROM. The hardware is the same. Stop changing the subject of the original comment.

            Yes, the version here has the pen bundled which is awesome, but that doesn't change the hardware of the physical tablet. Lenovo AU sucks for bringing the 4GB RAM variant here when 6GB really should be the minimum for Android to run smoothly.

                @studentl0an: Nice edit there. Lenovo should do better on the hardware since the 6GB already exists and the manufacturing cost is only a couple of dollars difference. Bundle that version with the pen and that'll be the best value budget tab anywhere. I about even AliExpress could compete with that since sellers don't bundle the accessories.
