Yeah Sub Mini + 2 rear surrounds (the Ikea Symfonisk Frames for $90 each deal would be amazing) and it sounds very good.

Exactly the setup I have but with the Symfonisk bookshelf speakers rear mounted, highly recommend for a small living room

Yep I have the bookshelf speakers too. It still blows me away compared to my old Samsung setup.

Thought they were way more than$90 ??

sub mini + era 100 OR Beam Gen2 ?
have small living room and small space as well. so wanna get the best out for the buck

You'll need the Beam to get HDMI arc functionality for your TV. Plus with the sub and a single ERA 100 you won't get stereo.

Get this then or similar; has a small remote; connect via optical? Best bang for buck and Sonos don't really go hand in hand? (i realise with this comment + my other post; it sounds like I'm a sonos hater; i'm not; but they're not 'value' speakers)

for computer, i understand.. but for tv?

@aj-99: I use Edifier S3000Pros as my TV speakers and they're great! Remote is eh and no arc is less convenient but I don't mind it.
I use TV speakers for general youtube or whatever then speaker for music, movies or TV shows

Sonos just seems insanely expensive for what it is, no? I'm sure it's pretty seamless; but HDMI only sounds dumb; so basically if they stop supporting it you can't use their stuff as dumb speakers like via optical?

For example; for lower price; 3.1.2 setup
or 5.1.2 setup https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/909434 for closer to normal Beam pricing
Is it really just a brand thing/integration i.e. apple-like in that if you've got Sonos already it's worth just sticking with it?
Friend has the full arc, sub 4, rear era 300 setup; sure it sounds great; but not sure if it's well north of 3k great when you can get the Samsung q990f for 1-1.2k~ complete.
I feel for 500 bucks that's a used receiver setup somewhere. I guess we pay for convenience/simplicity?

Only feature they have that appeals to me is multi room sound via wifi. Doesn’t seem to be any competition that does this, maybe when google start selling smart speakers again.

I agree with you, 3k for snonos setup won't give you 3 times performance of 990F.
samsung 990F is great enough for most of the people, especially when you own latest release samsung tv, enjoy the Q-Symphony tech.

My arc came with a hdmi to optical dongle

Yes Sonos is the Apple of the speaker world. It just works and sounds awesome. You trade money for time

does sono supoort dts dtx?

In terms of audio formats, the Beam Gen 2 supports stereo PCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos (both the Digital+ and TrueHD versions), multichannel PCM and Dolby Multichannel PCM.
Decoding for DTS digital surround has now been added to this and other Sonos products but this sadly doesn't extend to DTS:X.

Would the Sonos software update disaster affect this product?

It's the same software which now seems to work, or not cause as many complaints on Reddit. The Sonos subreddit is a happier place these days, although faith in Sonos is shaken somewhat.
For a soundbar use case only, you would be fine.
The issues (now mostly fixed?) affected more the multi-room, complex speaker setups.

For a soundbar use case only, you would be fine.
True, but if you're going to pay $500 for a sound bar, you'd probably want to it to be a smart speaker than just a sound bar.

much much better that previous state

These are terrible and support is bad. Bought with excitement and returned soon after.

Curios as to what was terrible? The sound bar specifically or the eco system?

Main issue was that we used voice commands to turn off the tv, which is great with a baby in your hands. It suddenly stopped working after a few months. Spoke with sonos several times but the cause was never identified and it wasn't fixed.
Also it felt like it needed their external sub as it was missing low frequencies and didn't sound complete, particularly for such a large device.

I also bought Sonos headphones as with the Beam connected, my LG oled would always switch audio output to soundbar - even with every possible setting on the TV to output sound to bluetooth. As a bonus the headphones support Atmos unlike regular bluetooth headphones

Was 499.98 during Black Friday sale, works great with sub mini for small living room.
If you have limited budget, get sub mini first, then era 100.
Note: you can build sub gen 3/4 x2 , but can't setup sub gen3/4 + sub mini or sub mini x2, be aware.
