  • Board game has been released this year too.

      it came out in 2015

Card game did yes, but new board game 2025 this year - https://youtu.be/TTCVZSG1-PM?si=o6oZwF3GiuXEQjvf looks decent

        • I enjoy the board game. It's still nice and quick, but allows all players to be involved the whole time unlike the card version where players get picked off slowly. I do worry about the longevity of the pop-up component of the board, but think it should be able to be ripped off if it breaks without affecting the gameplay.

        • Never heard but looking it seems fun

So odd - I ordered this yesterday via kmart for $34 C&C - and - surprise - surprise - they cancelled the order. So seeing this for $17 has brought a little Christmas spirit into my life - thanks OP!!

  • Does it meow? Mine meows.

  • Great game! Super fun around the Christmas table

  • Been waiting for this since the defuse cards were destroyed because of… emotions

    • Maybe try a different game next time

      • The cards just need to be made from titanium to prevent sore losers from bending and creasing them.

        • A reasonable alternative

      worth getting?

How does this compare to exploding minions ? Is it worth it if I already have that (I play that with my 9 year old)

    • +1

Original & Minions are very similar~ (I played the original one and bought the minions one with my kids). If I were you, I won't buy another base one unless you have a bigger group and would like to buy the exploding kittens extendion. Maybe buy the Good Vs Evil or the boardgame just out this year?

      BASE

The base decks are obviously the starting point. You have the original which is, well, the original. The NSFW edition is just the Original base deck with all the same cards that keep the gameplay exactly the same, but with the pictures/names of the cards being less little kid friendly.

Good Vs Evil and the Cat Burglar Edition Base decks are pretty close to the Original deck, but each adds just a slight twist with the gameplay mechanics. Zombie Kittens adds the biggest twist to gameplay as it has the ability for dead players who "exploded" during the course of the game to have a little interaction with the game and even the ability for active players to resurrect dead players and bring them back into the game as a full active participant again. To accommodate this, there are a variety of new cards exclusive to this set. The Party Pack set is designed for larger groups to play. If you're only going to be playing with a few people, don't bother with this set. There is also Recipes for Disaster which has a variety of cards from various releases/expansions. It also comes with "Recipes" on which cards to play with/exclude for a variety of different game play mechanics and experiences to keep things fresh.

      EXPANSIONS

Imploding Kittens, Streaking Kittens and Barking Kittens. Each has new cards to add to base decks. There are card lists out there to show you which card comes in which packs. I'm not going to list them here. If the 3, Barking is my least favorite. Streaking is my favorite for the new aspect of game play it provides with some of the cards. Imploding has a few cards I feel are so basic they should have been included in the decks from the beginning. Barking and Imploding both come with headgear for added fun during gameplay, but I never use them and you don't have to if you don't want to either.

Zombie Kittens has an expansion pack with just the cards needed to convert an existing base deck into the Zombie Kittens. All those gameplay mechanic altering cards from that base deck are in this pack. Just drop them in and upgrade.

  • I bought the Amazon warehouse version for $16.15. arrives sooner. Will be used for work secret Santa/Santa steal.

    • Have you got a link please?

      • They are finished but I just used the same link as the one in OP

    • They bloody cancelled my order!

  • Now showing dispatch 2-5 weeks

    • Still properly in stock at the Target link though

or, you can buy at reject shop at $10,
Grab & Game - Exploding Kittens (similart to original but lesser/smaller cards, travel version) https://www.rejectshop.com.au/p/grab-game-exploding-kittens
Exploding Minions, almost the same as the original but with Minions instead of cats picture, $10 at reject shop, $12 at Target https://www.target.com.au/p/exploding-minions-a-card-game/70…

    • Great find!
      The packaging looks different.
I think reject shop got the travel sized version, which Amazon also has for $14.97.

  • How do I do price matching at Amazon? Link says $37 at AMZN… and their wiki says they don't do price matching.

  • Thanks OP. Perfect gift for bad santa at work :)

  • Is there much difference in game play between Original and Grab & Game?
I have never played either, number of players in our house is most likely to be two, occasionally three… which would make G&G edition seem more suitable? But is there a loss / compromise of gameplay in that version?

    • Or difference between Grab & Game vs Two Player editions?

Looks like Target & Amazon are sold out of original edition.
And Reject Shop doesn't list any availability in Sydney for the Grab & Game.

      Too slow:(

  • Fantastically fun game but need at least 3 to make it 'interesting' and I think a 'reverse' card would be good.

  • OOS on amazon.
Some Targets may still have stock. YMMV

  • Successfully price matched at Kmart instore. Showed them Target price on my phone. They didn't check Target stock levels at nearest store etc.

  • Amazon back in stock

  • For this price it's a cool enough game

I got the Kickstarter version which cost about $70 at the time and was a bit underwhelmed.

But that one has a meowing cat when you open it 💁
