  • I got the UeeTop 175W gan charger from AliExpress, it is very good and cheaper.

    • +17

UeeTop, never heard of it….sounds like more of a gamble.

Until UeeTop starts to build up a bit of a reputation i wouldn't say it's a fair comparison with ugreen.

        Over 200+

You must be new to ozbargain

        • +9

over 200 votes on ozb doesn't mean it has a reputation close to ugreen.
Heymix's use to get high votes aswell, and we all know how they end up.

To clarify, i'm not saying these are the next heymix, i'm just saying that votes alone isn't evidence for quality or reputation.

          • -1

@whitepuma: Well, feel free to sit this one out. I'm more than happy to take this gamble

            • @dottjt: keen to hear how it goes in the long run, always happy for competition in the market, especially if it proves to be good quality. Win-win for us consumers.

          • @whitepuma: Read both comments Ueetop and heymix, and people can decide

          • @whitepuma: What's happened to heymix? I still have a GaN charger from them since 2021.

            • @penguinswillrise: just check through heymix posts comments.

Here's some of the listed example.
Note, it's not all of the examples, but is a good representation of many peoples experiences.

In my workplace we now have a ban on heymix devices. If anybody submits a PO for something heymix branded it gets reflagged.

    • is the plug at the back removeable? i wanna plug an american plug into it when i go over there.

      • is the plug at the back removeable?

Yes, only standard 8 plug cable.

    • They're cheap, though in my experience, I wouldn't say they're very good. The two I have make an audible coil whine that makes them not very good as a bedside charger, if it's within arms reach and direct earshot. Haven't come across any issues like USB ports not working, like other posts on ozb have mentioned.

I'm actually eyeing off the UGREEN X765 because of the whine.

What’s the difference between this listing and the older 100W charger?
    https://amzn.asia/d/cJHWHYL

    • +1

      6 ports - 4 USBC + 2 usba

      Vs 4 port - 3 USBC+1usba

      • Besides the ports?

        • +6

On the old one, the 2 single top ports can charge a device at 100w max. The new one, the 2 single top ports can only charge at device at 65w max. (note though, this is using 1 of the 2 ports on either one. Neither can do 2x100w, or 2x65w).

        • +5

And Rakddon shouldn't have been downvoted for asking a legit question.

          • +4

@metalslaw: I was actually editing my comment but was 20 secs late… and couldn't post my edit because someone replied :)

    • +3

Biggest difference is the 2x USB C in the older one deliver 100w charging. The one in this post is 65w only.
I would pay the extra to get the older one

    • +2

The old one is 100W max for a single port while this one is 65W.

  • I got the essager 100w desktop for $30ish delivered from AE (paid mostly with coins)

Does 100w from a single usb c port

  • +1
    • +1

If you need to charge multiple heavy-use devices, yes.

It looks like it can do 100W+85W on two usb-c ports at the same time, so could charge two laptops at the same time.

Even with four ports loaded, you still get a decent 65W+45W+45W+30W out of the first three usb-c ports + one port from the second set simultaneously, so you could charge a laptop and two phones at the same time.

    • +1

Thanks, I reckon its better value for me, ordered.

  • +5

only 65w on a single port. Might as well get one that does 100w on a single port at this price

  • +8

I think the description needs to clarify that this charger can provide a max of 65W on one port. It's a good device, but it's not a "100W charger" in the way most people assume it is.
It's a good device, don't get me wrong - I have one. It's solid and I consider UGreen a very reliable brand.

  • +2

What I don't get is why people want these fast chargers? My understanding is that they degrade the battery quicker? Like it'd be great if there were slow chargers instead, intended for charging overnight.

For further context, the reason why batteries degrade is largely due to heat, and the faster the charger the more heat the battery generates.

    • +1

I believe some laptops have a MINIMUM of 65W. So this charger would be the lowest spec to even start charging it actually.

      • -1

And in time the voltage drops so it won't even charge laptops.

    • As @tuttorix said, it's kind of the minimum for most laptops.
In fact, for people who want the convenience of funneling the power through a type-C hub (so that you only have to plug in one thing, instead of a charger, a dock and an HDMI cable), 65 often doesn't cut it because the dock itself will draw 15 watts. Your laptop will then complain that your adapter isn't providing enough power. I had to buy a 100W charger for that reason.

For phones: yes, slower is better. My phone goes on a slow wireless charger, and it tells me it will slow-charge so that it reaches 100% when my alarm goes off (it does this automatically)

      • What charger do you use for your phone?

        • this one :)
8-year-old no-brand 10W Qi charger. Still works fine.

      • +1

IMHO it's better to use wired slow charging as wireless charging will always generate heat due to….. physics.

        • +2

True, but mine is slow as hell. Takes all night to charge my phone, and doesn't really get warm.
The problem with using a cable is that after plugging and unplugging 100's of times, you can also start getting issues.

    • +1

What I don't get is why people want these fast chargers?

What other people said (laptop chargers etc), but also: Life is short, and phones are cheap. I just plug in my phone to the fastest charger available around, and I've never had to replace the battery of any phone I've had.

Maybe I'm just unlucky and they die for other reasons before the battery degrades.

    • +1

There was a study done on this that proved fast chargers didn’t degrade battery life.

  • Best review score ever seen,…..5 out of 5 for 23 reviews, not bad.

    • +5

Bear in mind every single one of the reviews so far is an Amazon Vine review (where they got the product for free), so it's basically a kickback scam, free product for a 5 star review. That's not to say the product is bad, but it muddies the rating and review system even more than the sorry state that it's already in.

This charger has an IEC-C7 (figure-8) mains input socket, so it can easily be used when traveling overseas. Just buy the appropriate mains cord(s) for your overseas destination(s).

This Aliexpress seller has all types of cords, but you can probably get them cheaper through a different seller:

Bought this already a day or two ago and just started using it. Seems to be built well, hasn't got hot running a 65w laptop (full battery mind so it may not be doing much). Early days but so far so good.

    • +1

      Same.
I'm happy with 65W for the laptop and about 30W for phone (that's my phone's max rate with PPS anyway - have to use own-brand charger to get max 90W).
Be interesting to know how warm the 4 port version gets at 100W through one port.

  • Complete lack of independent reviews.

  • Why is everyone calling the OP the new one? Look at the design - it's the old design.

    This is the NEW model:
    https://amzn.asia/d/atRBB2x

    Currently $99.99

    • 200W though? Also not figure 8 mains socket.

  • +1

I have a four port one of these and I've had endless problems with it. When everything is plugged in and unchanged, it works fine. Plugging new devices in or out causes it to blip, cut off power, and reboot. That's fine for most things, but when you have sensors and chargers that track voltage, milliamp‑hours, and other parameters, they work better with continuous power. Rebooting resets everything and is a PITA

I did some Googling, and this is a known problem with the UGREEN GaaN Chargers. .

I replaced it with an. Anker Prime USB C Charger, 200W 6-Port GaN Charging Station, USB-C PD Fast Charging Desktop Charger for $89 AUD on Amazon. We found a much better product and had no problems.
