If you haven't bought it already like myself, 20% off at the moment for the Game of the Year on Steam.

I went to the Australian of the year awards and Clair Obscur won.

Took out my sons Preschool Talent Show as well.

Had a meat raffle at the local footy club, Clair Obscur won that too

Clair Obscur took my wife and kids.

Clair Obscur won best French pastry of the year. Yummy!

It’s also $55 on the PlayStation store!

Absolutely 100% worth your time. Even if you don't like turn based stuff like me.

Meh, I wasn’t into it. Not saying it’s a bad game, but just because it won GOTY doesn’t mean everyone will like it.
If you haven’t played it yet watch some reviews / gameplay to see if it’s for you.

Yeah nah I couldn't get into it. I couldn't get into Balder's Gate 3 either. Just not into turn based stuff.

I'm not into turn based either and I loved it.

Expedition 33 relies quite heavily on parry system to negate damage in a JRPG, sort of like mario RPG but on steroids. There is a lot of visual cues and audio cues that you learn.
You don't lose if you miss unless you select hardest difficulty I think, but game is really fun and not frustrating on normal or easy.
That said, unless you go for very specific build, you will not be able to tank the hits by avoiding the parry system. If this is a game breaker for you, it's not your game.

I would echo this. The timing for the parries really very tight. On normal and hard the window is more precise than dark souls for instance. It's not helped that seemingly every single bad guy has some form of delayed windup, or multiple move sets that look the same but have different timing, chain attacks of 4 to 5 blows in a row, etc.
I bounced off it pretty hard when i first started playing, persisting and maxing out health and mostly giving up on the parries (and using the more forgiving alternative of dodging) helped a lot. I'm having a great time, but I feel like it's more a great time despite the parry system than because of it.

I just play on story mode. Only parry and perfect dodge give AP, which is essential for fights. It’s too punishing to enjoy in an otherwise beautiful game.

I did find it became a lot easier after mid way through act 1. Mostly because I just gave up on parrying, levelled up vitality, and just considered occasionally dodging things a bonus while mashing heals every single fight. Now mid way through act 2 I'm progressing without significant trouble.
It is a beautiful and very cool game, but the parrying mechanic is absurd in a turn based game. Most of the time it's just trial and error or muscle memory as that window is just so short with minimal tells.

I got the ps5 online version

Thanks

I’m sure it is a great game from what I’ve seen and heard. But jrpg just not for me. Pass

Thanks for letting us know

The game where you speed run like Edward in Twighlight…🙂

Busy working on magic for free.

It seemed pretty good. Not enough for me to keep playing it tho. Im really stuck into where winds meet, free to play.

Not just because its free. its 100x better to me

The repetition and parry system really put me off this game. Traipsing back forth across the map and battling the same few mobs over and over got old pretty quick.
Was happy I played it via GamePass instead of forking out for it.

Epicstore: 55.96-20%in store credit return=44.8 AUD

I would pay a significant premium on any game to have it in steam rather than epic

For me KCD2 is the RPG game of the year, but this is a decent price for a terrific game.

Same price on GOG too if you prefer that.

It’s not just game of the year, it’s game of the decade.

This game rocks! I would strongly note that performance is hit or miss though; this really shouldn’t be Verified on Steam Deck. On Deck, the game barely manages 30fps while looking like ass.
If you have a decent PC, go for it. I had to refund because I only bought for a second playthrough on Deck over Xmas. PS5 runs great and looks the part.
Steam winter sale are in 3 days. Pretty good chance this will drop slightly lower than the current price.

What a lot of big games do is have a larger sale outside of the sale cycles on steam. So it might be the same or smaller then

Yeah same price now that the winter sale has begun, you can get it slightly cheaper via GMG and its also a steam code.

FYI, It's on the Xbox game pass which you can currently subscribe to for a month for $1.

Its actually cheaper if you buy the Bundle.
