    • What

    • Phuc Dat Butcher!

    • was considering a trip to vietnam but after watching that i'll stay put

      • A random dude in a village unalive someone who volunteers to be unalived has put you off?

        Wait till you see USA..

        • USA is also dangerous wdym

        • that is also off the list

        • 'killed', the word is 'killed'.

      • LOL ok enjoy being a recluse

        • other countries exist you know

          • @s1Lence: but other countries with air fares this cheap to get to?

      • There are knife and machete incidents almost every week somewhere in Australia where you live mate. One incident in Vietnam doesn't make it any less safe.
Also, Vietnamese people usually don't bother foreigners. In fact, many foreigners chose to stay in Vietnam permanently after visiting.

        • link me one snuff film from australia, i'll wait…

          • @s1Lence: Heinous crimes happen in Australia, it's just that we have strict media laws and that some people are deidentified.

          • @s1Lence: Go see 9news or 7news mate, there are heaps of chilling footage. Just now one incident at Bondi, if you dig deep enough 🙂

            • @User531437:

              if you dig deep enough

No need to dig. It's now allover the world.

          • @s1Lence: Worst timing ever

    • It’s one disturbing case.

  • Keep in mind that the worst times to visit Vietnam are generally during the peak rainy/typhoon season (May-November, especially July-October) for heavy rain, floods, and travel disruption.

    • The google is saying typoon season is June-November will early May be ok? Booking trips is so hard

      • Family of 4, we have booked trip starting early May, back home by mid May.

        • Edit: we didn't book flights at VietJet. Too much negative reviews for our likings and holidays mean to be stress free, especially with kids 😄. We r booked with Vietnam Airlines.

          • @s0805: Nice how much do a return trip cosy for you woth vietnam airlines?

            • @enwar: Probably double. Clearly he's not dealing with financial stress

              • @Jackson: Lol. Not sure about the financial stress or such however just like everything been saving for while. @enwar after all cash back etc….it costed around 2900 aud for 2 adults + 2 kids. Mind you ours is multistop flights as well. We going to Da nang first then making our way to Cam Ranh and staying there few days before back to Mel.

                • @s0805: So actually more than double

                  • @Jackson: Not really. We checked when we booked, there was abt ~500 difference between VietJet and Vietnam Airlines. As mentioned we r doing multiple stops and VietJet was only cheaper if we go to Ho Chi Minh which we are not. Hope that helps.

                    • @s0805: Yeah but that's still more than double this deal

                      • @Jackson: Apple vs oranges. The cities we need to go are not that much cheaper from VietJet either.

                        • @s0805: More like imperial vs Afourer mandarins. Same country but a bit here or there. It's not comparing tickets to Paris vs Ho chi min.

I am not saying any more than for someone who just wants to see Vietnamese, this so a cheap way to do it and way cheaper than most others

                          • @Jackson: Ok. you win. Hope you feel better. I am not going to neg you mate.

                            • @s0805: For the record I didn't neg you either. I am just defending the deal somewhat. The world needs tiered systems so that the wealthier can contribute more and the poor can still experience

      • May is still hot but not too rainy yet. Central Vietnam will be nice, I'd recommend heading there. Danang, Hoi An, Hue

  • Price beat with Jetstar

    • Is this a thing?

    • Good luck with that. Unless both flights are leaving on the exact day and time, in both directions, they decline it.. absolute waste of time. Oh and that’s if they actually get back to you before the other airline flights your price beating don’t get sold therefore JQ going “sorry all sold out on airline X..

  • Do yourself a favour and don’t fly VietJet. Unless you like delays and waiting a long time to check in or collect bags. The locals run their courier businesses through this airline.

  • Just sharing my experience with Vietjet…

In August, we booked a direct flight from Sydney to Hanoi via Vietjet.

A few days later we received an email that our flight now had a stopover and would arrive 5 hours later than planned.

Original options provided were flight credit or accept the changes. No mention of refund.

Emailed requesting refund and they said the refund would be processed between 30-45 business days.

Date of refund request: August 22
Date refund received: October 10 (after following up on October 9).

  • Viet Yeet is okay, have flown with them a few times, but they have delayed flights around half of the time, Never use them as a connector, but direct flights are okay on a budget

  • Flown VJ twice, both in business and one had a delay. Good value for direct flights to and from Aus

    • How much did you pay for business?

      • We flew VJ Business Class overnighter (MEL>HCM) in August and it cost $3,200 each. I have no complaints with VJ international and we also had a few domestic flights with VJ and we didn't suffer any major (>1hr) delays. I have heard horror stories though.

      • $2k return or thereabouts for one person

  • I've flown Vietjet from Ho Chi Minh City to Perth and they're fine. Just be aware that they're ultra low cost and set your expectations at that level and you'll be in the right mindset for flying with them.

As an example my flight was a red-eye/overnight flight and was mostly empty. The crew were required to wake people up who had moved seats, or were lying across a row of seats, and charge them a fee.if they wanted to remain there instead of their allocated seat.

Obviously the fares are so cheap due to all the ancillary revenue fees, so be prepared for that.

    • They do sell empty seats onboard so just can't move around

    • This is great to hear.

I hate paying for better seats only to find others are ‘allowed’ to move to the better seats without paying.

      Well done Vietjet!

  • Our flights got delayed by 13 hours, after being at the airport for 4 hours. Major PITA. Vowed never to fly Vietjet again…. But damn their prices are cheap 😬

  • Vietjet is shady as. When I was booking online the name field says 'First Name Only' and 'Last Name'. But at the airport I had to pay for name change to include middle name. Later I checked the online form again and under that field there was a pop up tnc box which says their definition of 'first name only' means to include all middle names.

    • That’s most asian airlines (including flag carriers). Some even omit spaces (gasp)

    • I also had trouble with their First Name and Last Name system at Melbourne airport, luckily I don't have to pay anything!

  • I've never had any issues flying with vietjet and I love that music they play on the plane…

    • I love their cute outfits and the ‘Hello Vietnam’ song they play! It got me really excited for Vietnam, kept hearing that song everywhere once over there.

I personally didn’t mind vietjet, they left me alone to sleep which is what I value on a flight. Went to Singapore a year later on Singapore airlines and I found the constant waking up and feedings really annoying. I just wanna sleep so the flight can be over as quick as possible.

  • If you’re on a budget holiday then go for it. We travel to Vietnam twice annually and save a lot of money. But beware SGN airport if you transit over there - a real pain in the ass to get through customs - usually minimum of 2 hrs to get through 🤣

    • You can pay their scam services call Fast track to get tru quicker, I think they'd never install egates as their corrupted government need pocket money

  • 4hrs on Singapore tarmac, no water, no light, no air cond

    https://www.reddit.com/r/VietNam/s/rqL8kG1b4k

    • Why is there music in the background of the video? Also, there was A/C for the first few hours.

    • It's a sensitive topic although the facts, hence that's why most Vietnamese refugees were from south Vietnam in Oz

      • Thanks for the upvote. No idea why it's getting so many downvotes. I mean, is anything I said actually wrong?

        • People who only know the surfaces by visiting it once or twice or are just lack of historical knowledge.

        • It's because of the way you framed it making it sound if they came to AU and USA to kill. The governments of these countries sent young men to fight in a foreign war overseas that's why they were killed.

          • @nwa: Ok what about their own countrymen who they killed? All because someone thought that communism was better.

  • How bad is immigration line on arrival to SGN, flight arrives early morning, do you think a fast pass is beneficial?

    • Very bad, even leaving SGN on departure. A fast pass is highly recommended although I feel they do this on purpose to get extra money from people.

  • I'd like to share my Vietjet experience. It's worth the read…
I naively choose this provider to get the family from Denang to Ho Chi Minh, with only 2hrs to spare to connect with our return flight to Melbourne with Vietnam Airlines. This is when I leaned about their nickname, DelayAir. Waiting in Denang, the flight was delayed again and again. I did some researching while there, the flight I had booked left on time only 13% of the time! After much winging to their booking desk, they moved us on to a later flight that left on time 80% of the time. And would get us in to Ho Chi Minh with like 50min to spare… Now officially a hail Mary to get on our connecting flight but still worth a shot. Our new flight was delayed 5 or 10min. The staff in the flight where actually quite lovely, no issues there. They agreed to move us up to the front of the plane so we could exit first to give the best shot of getting to the next terminal. But hilariously we were first off the plane and first on to the runway bus, where we had to wait for the whole plane of passengers anyway. So the reseating was merely a gesture to encourage hope. Appreciated all the same. At the next terminal, we now had only 25min to get through everything, security, check in, etc. Now officially impossible. I looked around for the most officious looking fella I could find. Explained our plight. Initially he just said no… Then he cagely looked around and instructed us to put 500k VND in each of our passports and stand over 'there'. Luckily we had just enough Dong left over. He soon came back, then loudly cried "PRIORITY PASSENGERS, PRIORITY PASSENGERS COMING THROUGH.." we were ushered through the diplomats passport terminal where our VND mysteriously disappeared without mention, and through we went. We got to our gate and joined the tail of the queue..
Long story short, I won't be using Vietjet in the future, but I REALLY love the Vietnamese. Always a hoot. Just enjoy their unique take on time and life in general. You won't be disappointed. Cheers

    • That's why it cheap just like Jetstar

    • Hell of a story for the money I would say

    • Connecting only 2 hours before an international flight is ridiculous and on you.

  • Is Vetjet full service airline?

    • No. It's Vietnam version of Ryanair

  • I payed 200-300 more to avoid Vietjet. Worth it imo.

  • We recently flew with them, for the most part they were ok. The only negatives I would like to mention:
    1. Their single check in counter in Vietnam services all their routes at the same time, so the queue often snakes around the terminal - get there early.
    2. They advertise that some of their ticket types allow change of dates, but in reality they double the price if you do this - deceptive.
If there where other direct flight alternatives, I would have taken them - but they got me there & back so not bad.
