  • still waiting for the GC from September promo

    • 90-120 Days…

Set a reminder for January 30th to follow up

      • Could be way longer for the Gas plan too. I signed up during the Sep promo and it took 2.5 months to transfer me, so that's like late March for the full 120 days.

    • The providers take so long to switch into their realm that I'm never sure who am I with currently :P

    • do you get any confirmation email? I switched but got nothing from Econnex

      • Yes I got a confirmation

Thanks for choosing Econnex Comparison to arrange your electricity and gas connection with EnergyAustralia.
Below are the details of your electricity and gas connection:

        • TY checked and realised i got that as well.

  • Just wondering if it would work for someone with a HealthCare Card? It's for my mum.

    • Of course, health care cards can be used with all suppliers at the sign up stage.

  • Finally got my. Randomly just got the email for $125 for gas. Signed up like 6 month ago.

  • I joined the September churn for gas but my gas cut over only occurred at the start of this month. This is exceptionally late churn but does anyone have any experience on whether econnex will honour the gift card?

By my estimates, if it is honoured, I would need to stay on until mid-January, then wait another few months to get the card. Given the rates are not good, is this worth staying or should I just write it off and churn now?

    • Also keen to know with certainty.

I just received both my gas and elec gift cards from the August gas/elec churn, but didn't pay attention to the transfer timings. I usually wait 52 days from the day I sign up (1 week over the minimum stay period)

  • I can't speak for other states, but VIC is tricky when it comes to gas.

Gas bills in vic are once every two months on a fixed statement cycle date, so if your churn misses the boat, there could be nearly 60 days from the sign up date until the actual churn date (day zero). It's my understanding that day zero is when the counter starts ticking, so add another 45 days to that.

It's also a problem if your sign up is too close to your statement cycle date when you initiate your churn. Same issue as above, if the processing is delayed and your churn misses the statement cycle, you're looking at 60+ days once again before starting the counter.

Look at your gas statements and be wary of how long things might actually take.

    • Same with NSW but with every 3 months (or longer if they actually don't come out to do the read). In NSW, they are legally only required to do this once a year!

  • I just signed up yesterday using this offer: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/926267

Can I override that sign up by signing up to the same provider using this new promo?

    • Get them to cancel it but might be seen as repeat customer - worth a shot

  • Pretty low compared to this right?

  • GC Updates: Just received GC for 10th August 2025.

For September you may have to wait one more month unfortunately.

Econnex always send out at the very last week of 120 days.

  • Switched via Econnex and received a confirmation email but now over a week later have not had any communication from the retailer. Follow up with retailer and they have none of my details (eConnex ref and my personal details)

    • Will depend on meter reading date to close your bill though right?

  • New condition

For Energy- This offer is available to new customers only. Existing customers of AGL, ActewAGL, ENGIE and EnergyAustralia are also eligible, provided they meet all other offer requirements. A ‘new customer’ is a customer who has not been with the same retailer in the past 12 months.

    • Good pick up, assumes this means if I return the retailer I was with earlier this year, I would not be eligible for the gift card

      • If you hop between AGL, Actew, Engie and Energy Australia, the 12 month condition doesn't apply and you still get the gift cards? Or am I understanding that wrong.

  • If i switched gas and electricity in September, but gas only got connected now, can i still switch electricity using this and receive my previous gas voucher? Electricity has already completed 45 days.

  • Does anyone know if you still qualify for this offer if you change plans, but stay with the same provider?

For example, I want to join Ovo's 3 hour free electricity plan, but that plan doesn't show up via Econnex.

If I sign up to another Ovo plan via Econnex, and then subsequently call Ovo to switch to their 3 hour free electricity plan, will I still get the Mastercard if I remain on the new plan for 45 days?

    @Manyo, can you please advise?

    • In the past you had to stay on the initial Econnex sign-up plan for the 45 days. I assume it's the same now.

I know when I signed up a dozen times with Powershop it was always on their "switch saver" plan via Econnex which was a lot more expensive than their "power house" plan which wasn't offered by Econnex, but I was told that if I changed plans before the 45 days, the $200 card would be void.

    • I signed up 2 days ago on that plan via Econnex.

  • Just for reference - I've had the digital gift cards decline multiple times trying to use Google Wallet. Can't be used at maccas for example.

    • I use them to pay my council rates. Easy way to immediately use exactly the full balance.

    • Once added to google pay I've used them for maccas kfc woolowrths, everything

      • Use them for Sydney Water or Council rates..

  • Thanks . Signed up

  • Be careful with this deals from econnex. Never received my giftcard in the email from the previous deal. Got an sms saying your giftcard is ready, but nothing received (checked junk/spam). Called them up (haven't heard back in over a week) and also emailed them (no response). Looking at some other comments seems like a common issue.

  • finally got my 3 giftcards from august last week hang in there lads

  • Probably the worst experience dealing with these guys.
Signed up the deal in May.
There was no date given that when I was going to receive my reward giftcard.
Even sent an email to customer support - don't remember the date but I think it was August-ish.
They stil could not tell me when I will receive my giftcard.
Last week I found from my spam folder that the giftcard email sitting there from September.
Tried to activate it but could not activate it because 30 day activation period ended.
Emailed customer support again, and only was told that because 30 day activation period was passed, I cannot get the gift card any more.
    $200 just gone like that.
Will never deal with thes guys again.

    • I received a lot of negative votes but no given reasons.
Not sure what people thoght I did wrong.

  • The deal isn't that hard, always received all my giftcards and i churn every 45/60 days pending when the next deal is

  • Which are the electric & Gas provider has a welcome bonus on this comparison?

    • It differs by area. You might have some in your postcode you might not. You'll have to look yourself.

  • The $150 internet deal is good. I hope they keep it in future months because I'm not able to switch now. I'm due to get a $100 credit + 25k Everyday Rewards points on Jan 1 from Origin Internet, so I can't swap now. :-(

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/929575

    • just schedule connection for the future?

      • How can we do this? Via 'moving' ?

  • Been waiting for this, thanks for posting :)

  • Any idea when the 45 day starts ? Is it the day I sign up or the day switch over occurs which is normally a week if
    I'm correct?
    Thank you

    • day switch over

  • I signed up for their AGL deal a few weeks back. Got a call from my current supplier who offered me the same amount as the gift card but in account credit and cheaper rates! So I decided to stay with my current supplier.

One thing I learnt from this experience is that some of suppliers will happily offer lower rates than advertised. The agent who I was on call said that she can offer me much lower rates, I just have to call them and ask/ request. I’m with origin btw (which is the cheapest in my area).

    • It’s the fact we have to initiate the negotiation that makes it not worth it. This whole switch for rewards thing started because companies only reward new customers as opposed to loyal ones. Customer acquisition and retention should both to be free, in that it’s a side effect of companies provide consistently good services and products, while improving on their processes and reduce costs as they become more proficient at their trade.

  • $150 giftcard for gas deal same as the agl offer last month,

I guess time to ditch that half way through for engie, with $220 gas welcome credit.

  • thanks, turns out alinta was a couple hundred dollars cheaper than my current provider Lumo so i made the switch

    • Same!

  • $100 for electricity, is it the all time lowest amount so far?

I am at QLD and I found it's better to join Kogan straight away, they offer $100 credit with better rates

  • If I have an internet account at 3 different properties, can I still do this offer for all 3 and get 3x $150 gift card?

  • Can I delay my Internet sign up by choosing moving?

    • You can specify the connection date even when choosing not moving

      • Any disadvantage chosing the 'moving' option though?

        • But why would you intentionally complicate it without any tangible benefit

          • @tigerjie: I thought I could only specify connection date when selecting moving. .oups

  • @nocure TopCashback's Econnex cashback is $125 Electricity. Stay 45 days: https://www.topcashback.com.au/econnex/

  • Got marketing spam call once sign up?? But i had signed..

  • Internet (or at least Swoop broadband) can only be scheduled up to 30 days in advance btw
