[PC, Epic, Unconfirmed] 15 Free Games over Christmas Holidays @ Epic Games

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Courtesy of this leak (https://beebom.com/epic-games-holiday-free-games-2025/amp/), after a cracking start with Hogwarts Legacy - looks like we have a leak of upcoming free PC games by EPIC.

Some heavy hitters I have been meaning to rebuy on PC - so may be worth holding out.

Note I have rolled the timing forward by 1 day in brackets due to the release times being U.S.

• Dec 11 – Dec 18 (12-19th): Hogwarts Legacy
• Dec 18 – Dec 19 (19-20th): Jurassic World: Evolution 2
• Dec 19 – Dec 20 (20-21st): Desperados 3
• Dec 20 – Dec 21 (21-22nd): Total War: Warhammer
• Dec 21 – Dec 22(22-23rd): Tropico 5
• Dec 22 – Dec 23(23-24th): Chicken Police - Paint it Red!
• Dec 23 – Dec 24(24-25th): Loop Hero
• Dec 24 – Dec 25(25-26th): Lego Batman
• Dec 25 – Dec 26(26-27th): Commander Keen
• Dec 26 – Dec 27(27-28th): Farming Simulator 2022
• Dec 27 – Dec 28(28-29th): Slime Rancher 2
• Dec 28 – Dec 29(29-30th): Terraria
• Dec 29 – Dec 30(30-31st): Detroit: Become Human
• Dec 30 – Dec 31(31-1st): Mortal Kombat 11
• Dec 31 – Jan 1(1-2nd): Red Dead Redemption 2

Note: This list is leaked. It is not confirmed and/or may be subject to change.

Mod 16/12 1015pm: Whilst we historically allow deals to be posted in advance, without asking for proof, generally there is a credible external source or the OP believes the information to be true. After reviewing the source and various threads on external sites, it appears that we have neither in this case, and the chance of it being completely accurate is very low. With this in mind, as well as the next game release still being 3 days away, we have decided that removing it as a deal post would be the best course of action; despite the moving of the post to the forum being irreversible.

With or without this post, we expect games to be posted when or (up to 24 hours) before they become available, as per our previous Epic Games separate deal posts ruling.

Rdr2 is up there with the Gta 5 giveaway years ago

    • +4

Yeah I've bought some of these titles on console previously and can't bring myself to paying for the same title on PC but want to replay.

      • Some if these I finally got around to buying in the last 3 months. I still don't own RDR2, so that's good at least.

      • +1

was hoping KCD 1 to be in the list.

      • +1

Its more fun and enjoyable at more than 30 FPS. Trust

      • +1

i havent bought a game in almost a decade. just keep being busy with life and by the time i want to play they give it to me for free lol

        • I bought Clair Obscur the other day, and bought BG3 last year. Other than that my extensive library is full of Epic or Prime giveaways that I'll probably never play :D

RDR2 will be and excellent addition to that list.

          • @Dalryk: same i played a bit of RDR2 when it was on gamepass, then got busy and it got removed afterwards

now that i have to play soon they are giving it away lol

im sure by the time i get around to it, Clair Obscur will be free too

just waiting for larian to give away BG3 next haha

    • yeh i'd forgotten i'd claimed that. don't bother with PC much over console games, but logged in again to get hogwarts and was surprised by having it.

was contemplating playing RDR2 again on console, but PC turnt up to 11 would be way better. one of the goats.

  • +19

Whoa, being lazy sure pays off here. 2 or 3 I was looking at buying

    • +4

      *cheap

    • Never buy anything, because eventually Epic will give it to you for free!

  • +11

Wtf is Commander Keane? Do they mean Keen?

    • +1

      It's a historical classic from the Win95 days…. Damn…. I'm that old

      • +11

Win 95? Try MSDOS 6.22.. I had the first Commander Keen in 92 as a then 11 year old..
Damn now i feel old. Thanks :D

        • +1

My favourite game to play on school computers. That and Crystal Caves!

        • +1

I had msdos on my 386, skipped win 3.1 and finally got a family pc with '95. First games were Duke Nukem II, Dangerous Dave, and Commander Keen. Brings back some memories.

        • yeah looks like Commander Keen 5

      • isnt commander keen canonically a descendent of the wolfenstein guy

    • +12

I walked across an empty land
I knew the dopefish like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

    • -5

      Wasnt it Keen Commander?

      • +2

        no

    • +1

      Must be an Irish reboot

    • +3

It's the Roy Keane life simulator

      • [angry grunting noises]

    • Wtf is Commander Keane? Somewhere Only We Know.

  • +6

Quite decent releases and pretty varied too. Seems to be a few picks for most types of gamers

    • +4

I'll be sure to claim them all and maybe play one!

  • +11

Yeeeaaahhh, that's a pretty speculative leak, I'm doubting the last 3 especially.

  • Can these be claimed online without the client? I won't have access to my pc some of those days :(

    • +9

Yep I do this all the time via my mobile 📲

      • +2

Just login to the website and claim?

        • +1

Yes. You just sign in/up, and there’s a Get button (or Add To Cart) and then you go through with a free purchase. No payment card required.

  • +5

Hopefully these are available when the Yanks are sleeping and the site doesn't get DDOS'd.

  • +6

    Is this confirmed?

Terraria isn’t even on the Epic store at the moment.

    • -1

      Speculation only at the moment.
Sometimes the giveaways aren’t on Epic store but will be made available during the giveaway timeframe

      • +5

Do you have an example from previous years where a game wasn't on the store but it was given away?

  • +7

    I'm Keane!

    • +16

Just log into the website, can't be that difficult to claim a free game.

      • +6

Even easier: Ozbargainer-provided check out links. (Once already logged in)

      • +1

Sure. But I was just complaining Apple for making it more difficult for Epic.

        • +9

          Well don't use Apple then

    • +16

Shit imagine using a website like a website

    • +4

Shame your mobile doesn't have a browser.

  • +11

Can't wait to collect all these and still never play them. Thanks OP

    • +3

me too, My epic is Bustn with games iv never touched. … but some day

      • It is my retirement plan. You know, when I'm mostly blind, deaf and arthritic.

    • This is the way.

  • +26

This list has been debunked as fake in several subreddits (https://reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/1plsdrt/…)

    • Hogwarts Legacy is currently free, so that part is correct, at least. But the end of the list seems a bit strange. Would they really give away those games at the end?

Detroit: Become Human - 10 million units sold in 2024.
Mortal Kombat 11 - December 30 - No sales figures released but this is still a very popular game on Steam.
Red Dead Redemption 2 - Over 6 million units sold in 2024

      • Yeah but what was sold in 2025?

I mean they gave away some games that sold well in the past.

      • Detroit become human definitely did not sell 10m copies in 2024. 10m total since it came out maybe

  • -1

Do you get to keep it or is it free for a day only?

    • +2

As long as you add them to your account (during the period they're available for free), you get to keep them.

    • It is a full purchase with a $0 price.

    • Hmm, so you think they are only going to let you play each game for free for 1 specific day back-to-back for 15 days?! I mean the constant download/installs for one new game each day would be infuriating for me! And over Christmas and New Year!

  • +5

I believe I could be reincarnated for another five lives and still not play all the free games I have gathered.

  • +5

this is merely just a leak and the list has not been confirmed by Epic, take this with a grain of salt

    • I think certain individuals here prefer to take it with a grain of MSG.

  • +10
    1. Learn this from OZBargain
    2. Open Epic
    3. Get it in library stock
    4. Quit Epic
    5. Continue play on Swtich
    • -1

You can download for pc then play on switch?

      • +2

No. They were playing on their Switch previously and returned to it after claiming their free Epic game, which will sit unplayed for several weeks/months/years

    • +1

Can it be done with ps5 digital as well?

    • You missed step 1.1 Reset Epic password

  • +4

ozb: need a multi-day reminder function for this!

  • +6

This is not an official list and includes games such as Terraria that is not even available on Epic games store and could not possibly be given away.

    • +11

not even available on Epic games store and could not possibly be given away.

This has happened multiple times in the past though. A game first becoming available on the store when it is given away for free

    • +1

You mean to tell me Commander Keen for the MS-DOS is not coming to Epic Games? Christmas is ruined!

  • Now to get me a ROG XBOX Ally X or MSI Claw A8 so I can play these hahaha

    • yep weird right we are trying very hard to get freebies or cheap items and then next week spending hundred $ for other things related to it

      • Yep
And to make up my mind on what one is even harder

  • which game is a good game? i only know Lego Batman and Red Dead Redemption 2

    • +3

A game you enjoy playing is a good game

    • I enjoyed the Tropico games. Classic resource collecting/city building games but with a political simulation streak through them which is hilarious. You play as the dictator of a Caribbean island, and have to balance economy, health and happiness of the populace, and lining your own pocket.

  • +1

    Cracker of a list

  • +21

Clickbait speculative list. I hope it is correct as there are some great games but I'm not sure why we are taking it as anything other than a rumor.

Happy to revoke the neg as games come out if they match up.

    • +20

Agreed, this is a rumour not a confirmed deal, should be in the forum rather than the front page.

    • +2

      Agreed, stupid to post rumours.
It will lower the quality of the website

      • Bird already flew the nest when RRP 'deals' and subs 'free if you pay deals' became popular

  • +9

This list has been floating around for a few days now, the source is a Chinese social media account.

I'd take it as pretty unlikely this list is true, especially since the past few years Christmas Day has had the big release (Control, Outer Worlds, Death Stranding, Prey). There is no Commander Keen game worth mentioning made in a long time.

  • i wouldnt mind all these free games!
RDD2 i mean.. like wow… its on sale now on steam.

  • I wish that epic would make a proper launcher compatible with the steam deck, i would play so much more epic games this way

    • +3

Install Heroic launcher, log into epic and gog, install game.

  • +1

Last week I went to check what the free game was and the Epic launcher wanted me to login and I was like 'nah, I'm good'.

Detroit has been on agressive discounts lately. Will be good to get it for free, I have it on PlayStation but it's locked behind the tax wall now.

Might give Slime Rancher 2 a go too.. the first one was okay in early access but I never played the release because it just got sillier and sillier.

  • +1

List is likely faked. Terraria isn't even on the Epic Games Store.

  • Anything similar for Epic on Xbox?

    • It's called Xbox Live

  • I wish we got multiple reminders per day in ozb.

  • +2

I wonder if they'll also be doing daily free game releases for mobile epic games store…

  • +5

Can't wait to play these games when I'm 95 and finally retired.
