Would be great for my needs except no video out option via the usb-c port.

    • This can't be used with an external monitor??

      • +2

Unlikely - Samsung usually reserve mhl (HDMI over usb-c) for their higher end tablets

    • +2

Video out is wireless only (Miracast 1080p I think). The usb implementation on the A11+ does not support wired video output at all.

  • How does Samsung hold up for longevity? Looking to replace a 2013 iPad that is just starting to slow down on me.

I’m hearing you usually get 2-3 years out of a Samsung tablet

    • -5

      replace a 2013 iPad

But haven't you gotten 12 years on that iPad? Why switch to Samsung… especially on this low-tier one…

    • +1

Says good for 7 years of updates.

If you’re using it for this long, spend a little more on a base model ipad. The SOC isn’t strong on this one and tablet OneUI (and android tablets in general) are pretty bloated vs their phone counterparts.

      • Yeah I think I will just stay Apple, at least they last

    • Samsung tablets user for nearly a decade now here - go iPad, unless you pay up base model tablets like this become unusable quickly. OneUI is such a nightmare for them

    • Updates are fine, but on some prior models at least, are notorious for screen adhesive failing(falling off) after warranty has expired.

    • Just to add a point of difference to these replies, my ipad died after 2.5 years last week - Apple asked me to buy a new ipad.

The equivalent is $600. What a bummer.

    • @BatmanAU have you had to ever replace the battery or a new screen ? Is the screen still not cracked from a drop ?

      • +1

        Nah never, screen is fine

        • Good stuff. You've looked after it well, that's how you make things last.

          • +1

@ozhunter68: Tbh it very very rarely gets used, but yeah still a good device

  • Just looking at options, doesn’t need to be apple as it’s just for browsing and the odd OzB search

    • Hmm.. well I find Apple lasts much longer and feels better to use… They also use their M chips which are great… Unless you really want an Android tab, then Apple is the way to go for tablets…

There's also the Lenovo Pad Pro (Android tablet) for ~$200 if it comes around

Have A8 A9 and 4x A9 plus tablets for the kids reading eggs and about to jump to this next.

The extra ram does make a difference for the speed of the device switching apps ect.

For an adults the screens aren't awesome viewing angles they are 90hz tho so ok for games roblox for the kids ect vs say a modern phone.

You can replace parts but everything is under the screen which needs be removed can DYI and youtube vids not terribly difficult just need a hair-dryer and screen repair kit with T5000 rubber screen glue from aliexpress takes an hour

    -battery (never needed to replace)
-usb c port (kids yanking on cables can damage these fairly easily recommend magnetic usb cable to protect the port longer term).

Kids rubber case from aliexpress for like $12 to $18

Can recommend and you won't cry too much if you end up cracking the screen.

    • Why would you let your kids go on Roblox…

      • +3

Yeah they play only with there siblings and school friends on private servers with chat disabled🫡 but yeah i understand some parents have no idea can be some weird stuff on there.

      • hey they might meet some nice "people"

  • Why not the Lenovo IdeaPad 11?

    • +3

A11+ has a much more powerful chipset. Also charges slightly faster (25 W vs 20 W).

There's a Cheaper one from US (64GB), which has been as low as $251 delivered (Currently, $269) - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CLF3VPMV/

    • It's currently $253.61 on Amazon but keep in mind the 64GB version also only has 4GB RAM.

  • Thanks OP just bought one of these the other day with price match + signup $10 voucher at JB. Does anyone know if a a9+ case will fit a11+ heard some volume/power buttons have shifted slightly - looking at the Gecko Samsung A9+ Tablet Case specifically. TIA.
