    • fyi guys the battery life is not much better than the ultra 2 i still find myself charging after 48 hours which does annoy me because i want it to last at least 3 days.

      • lol negging facts I have a ultra 3 so I know

RCA members get an extra 5% off at Retravision if you want to support them, or have another reason to buy there.

Use your monies for Garmin 👉

Just switched back from Garmin to Apple. Just syncs better and easier to use in my opinion. Especially if you are not fully into training etc

Garmin has pretty bad sensor accuracy. Look up quantified scientist on youtube. Apple watch is the best for accuracy

      • I'm invested in gathering accurate data for long-term health optimisation that I'm tailoring from the perspective of being a medical practitioner myself.

I've looked up a few articles on accuracy and found some varying opinions but a general concensus that Garman, Apple, and Samsung are very similar and surprisingly accurate, whereas the other brands may be hit-or-miss (mostly hit, but the odd poor result).

A professor (UK) that I listen to as a guest on a pod once ran his own experiment of importing a bunch of ridiculously cheap wearables whose build, UI, and supported apps where tacky and poorly developed, but found the actual data to be surprisingly accurate and broadly similar among them and comparable to expensive brands.

It seems the idea of producing these products is that the tech is pretty well established and open-source and not particularly espensive to mass produce, but the dollars go into design, user experience, and marketing.

Garmin was the easy choice for me given reputation, a developed interface around gathering and collating so many different metrics, and a forgiving battery life.

Not sure whether to get a single Ultra 3 or 120 of these:

  • I bought this just 2 weeks ago from Officeworks, will they price match and do they refund for the remaining??

    • Highly doubt it. But give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    • +1

The only way this would be possible is if the item is unopened. You can return it and repurchase at the reduced price. If it’s already opened, you’re outta luck. OW don’t even have a price guarantee believe it or not. The manager told me “their prices change all the time”.

Is there an sn on the invoice? If not, you could buy it again and return the new one with the old invoice.

      • Yes, they print the SN on the invoice. Retailers are well aware of this loophole.

    $1300 watch? damn!

I bought 3, just in case.

    • whats the time

      • +3

        Time to get a watch.

      • You need to charge it to see the time, also you need to buy charging brick first.

    • +4

You think $1300 is expensive for a watch.. sure, it is. But it barely scratches the surface of what’s out there.

      • +2

except th vast bulk of what's out there in this price range'll last several lifetimes beyond an apple watch's use-by

        • Sure will.. but think of the AW Ultra as a mobile phone, as it’s capable of being treated as one on its own. However, they are quite rugged and should still provide up to 10 years of usefulness plus telling the time as a secondary purpose.

          • @EitherWayUp: i don't need coaching to understand the value proposition

something i find difficult to reconcile is apple's eco credentials from past marketing strategies with the staggering volume of airpods and watches with very short lifespans, given cost of purchase

the number or airpods lost around the world'd fill quite a few shipping containers

as for 10years of use that depends on cost of battery replacements and ongoing software support

  • Apple taking the piss with their prices as usual, looks like a great watch though.

  • Does Apple price match?

    • +1

Yes. Apple does price match if is total price variation is upto 10% of the original price. They won’t price beat like officeworks. So you could get it at the same price at Apple Store as retravision.

      • Atleast you can return it if you dont like it. Much prefer buying from Apple store if i can price match

      • +1

This was a hot tip and something I never knew was the case. I ended up getting 2 x Ultra 3 watches price matched to this Retravision deal by the Apple Store directly thanks to this intel.

    Sucker born everyday.

    • +1

You are aware and care enough to comment. That’s a win for Apple.

      • For real. Plebs aren’t Apples target market.

  • +1

Is getting this similar to getting a RAM 2500 just for mall runs?

    • no way less expensive and more functional and we don't call them malls ya seppo gronk.

  • +1

Next model will be big enough to wear around your neck like Flavor Flav. Yeah boi!!

  • Thanks, got officeworks price matched.

  • Thanks - also got officeworks to price beat.

  • Appreciate the post, had Apple price match and picked two up today. One for me and one for father in law

  • This watch is unbelievable.. thanks for posting the deal. Just picked one up. I’m coming from an Apple Watch 4 (Samsung Watch ultra in between) now this. I basically get to a 3rd day with aod on. My ultra Samsung I made end of 3rd day.. but aod off. So yeah this battery is great.
