Nothing phones are having a sale.
Almost pull the trigger on a Google Pixel 9 Pro but been eyeing on the Nothing phones until I noticed prices just dropped across everything!

I needed 256GB so pulled the trigger on Nothing 3 instead.
Mixed review on it but should be a nice upgrade from an iPhone 12 Pro.
How do you run iPhone apps on it?
That’s the neat part, you don’t
@banana365: I was going to say Ghost Trick but it looks like they finally ported it to Android so yeah I got nothing else
I’ve always wanted to try android, is there anything good about these?
No, nothing at all
Thanks
Pixels are worth a look into. Pretty much the iPhones of Android.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
pixels were good when they were reasonably good and cheap. they've been enshitiffied and expensified. no reason to choose them over motos anymore.
Unless you want a good camera. Motorola cameras are awful!
I support any brand that isn't trying to shoehorn AI bullshit into everything
I would agree except for the Video recording quality. My 13 pro max is leaps and bounds ahead of my Pixel 8 pro. But then I am comparing a $1600 iphone vs $499 pixel!
If you're coming from apple. Probably best to start with Pixel.
I cannot speak for the latest nothing, though I did own the OG.
The good:
The OS was very close vanilla version of Android, no bloat, no gimmicks.
Very frequent updates, either introducing new features, security updates and/or bug fixes.
Great build quality.
Great camera hardware at the time.
Unique UI styling.
The bad: (improvements likely made since 2022)
Bugs that need fixing. If you highly depend on your phone for work, this MAY lack the reliability needed.
Camera software very lacking, did not take advantage of the great hardware.
OS lacked clever/useful features, couldn't really call it a smart phone in comparison but it does the basics that is more than adequate for 90% of the population.
But the worst thing about this is honestly the corny name.
Android is Android is android. Every manufacturer will have little tweaks differentiating them so "Vanilla Android" is really just another set of tweaks.
Someone hasn't had the displeasure of moving in and out of the Samsung walled garden then yet.
If nothing else length and regularity of update deployment matters
@waidro
iPhones are fine unless you want full flexibility in customising your phone, or until you run into some software issues that need resolving - which can be a real pain compared to doing it on an Android phone
Money for Nothing…
Pix for free…(not really)
I can get nothing for nothing, better than paying something for nothing.
These phones are great but do not buy if photography is of great importance to you. The software is really clean and slick though.
Is it worth paying 300 extra for 3 over 3a Pro?
Or is it even better buyCMF 2Pro? Watched MKBHD and he mentioned 2pro in his best phones of the year (and did not mention 3)
Update: it is OOS but selling for almost same price on Amazon ($354)
Got the Phone 3 512GB during black friday sales (with $150 cashback from TGG), overall a great phone if you have the right expectations.
Pros:
- super clean and smooth OS, updates every 2 months
- screen uses DC-like/high PWM dimming, which is a lot better on the eyes for me than the Pixel 9/10/Pros I've tried
- battery life is much better than my previous iPhone 14 Pro
Cons:
- screen can be brighter outdoors
- cameras are serviceable, can take good photos in some cases but definitely not Pixel/iPhone level -especially for videos
- have noticed a minor bug but nothing support was easy to talk to and confirmed that it will be fixed in the next release
- not a lot of smart features like the other OzBer has said but there is an AI memory feature that I use to keep all my JB Perks coupons + set reminders :)
- limited cases options, you'd want a transparent case to show the phone's design but it can become a smudge fest quickly
Also bought one during Black Friday sales, the 256gb from JB for $999. Quite happy with it 3 weeks later. Smooth and feels nice in the hand to hold. Camera is decent and does the trick for me. Coming from a Moto G84<Pixel 4a, Pixel 3a.
My first "flagship" phone. Loving the Snapdragon 8 performance. Same as what I have in my tablet, literally takes seconds to boot up compared to my old moto G which was almost a minute
Uh.. I like Nothing but this ain't pulling anyone from the Pixel deals, I reckon…
