Are we HODL for cheaper Outlaws or is this a legally okay price?

    • +2

That's a great price. Personally, I love that game. Very fun!

    • I asked my lawyer, he said you will be safe from any litigation buying it at this price.

    • +1

last time i said hogwarts will get given away for free on epic, i feel like same case this time.

Ubisoft deleted my account because it was inactive for a few years. Never again.

I told them that even EA had better account retention policies than them. No response after that.

    • So you pay for games but if you don't use it you just lose it?

      • That's what happened to me. I lost my account just before COVID. I've never looked back since. I'll play their games, sure, but I'll never buy stuff off their store.

You can't really trust companies with this kind of thing, but I have more trust in Steam, Microsoft and Playstation.

Nintendo get rid of their stores on older platforms. I refuse to buy stuff off them either. All my digital DS games are gone. I only bought 2 or 3, but still.

        • +5

That sounds like an ACCC thing about losing it.

Definitely makes getting games from alternative sources attractive.

          Yarrrr

i lost rdr2 on rockstar account because I didnt log in for a year or so?
support asks for a receipt of a 5 yr old game?
steam at this point is the only way to buy digital games

        GOG is even better

When I google this, I get this criteria from ubi and from gaming publications:

"For many years now, we have implemented our account deletion process in compliance with the requirements of the GDPR (Article 5.1.e on the obligation to limit the data retention period). Our policies are aligned with legal requirements and with the standards of the industry. This measure also acts as a protection for our players against fraud.

Account deletion follows a very strict process. As such, we take into consideration the 4 following criteria before an account is deleted:
      * The gaming activity of the account since its creation
      * The account’s libraries: accounts that include purchased PC games are not eligible for deletion
      * The duration of inactivity of the account, meaning the last login to our ecosystem (including from Ubisoft games on Steam and other platforms). In practice, as of today, we have never deleted accounts that have been inactive for less than 4 years
      * The existence of an active subscription tied to the account.

In any case, before the deletion is permanent, three emails are sent to the player over a 30-day period offering to restore their account. In addition, if the user tries to log in during the 30-day window, they will automatically receive a warning and a link to reactivate their account."

      • Interesting. I swear I bought at least a few games from them. It was years ago now though.

I'll stick with the other stores for purchases. I don't mind making a Ubi account for Rayman and all that.

  • +5

Never buying another Ubisoft game at release or near release again. Same with EA, why bother when it's discounted 90% within a year of release.

  • -8

I would not even play these games if they were for free. A waste of time. Except Anno

    • +1

Outlaws and Shadows are great. I haven't played Avatar yet, but plan to. No interest in Anno. Each to their own I guess.

And as for being a waste of time, all gaming is a waste of time!

      • +2

What's good about Outlaws? They've mentioned it several times on the Filthy Casuals podcast as a good middle of the road type game if you're a SW fan, but when I look up opinions, the consensus seems to be that, despite some bug/QOL updates, it's still a pretty lacklustre and badly made game; and you're better off just going with Jedi Fallen Order / Survivor.

        • This is also the impression I got. At $15 bux tho I'll probably get it. No time to play tho.

        • outlaws was pretty fun for me and im not a star wars freak, just a well made, easy game but

        • -8

Most of the hostilities are driven by powerfully insecure small minded boys who are petrified by strong female characters. Same thing happened with Rey. The game is fine.

          • +2

@wishing well: You think that's the problem with episodes 7-9? Lol.

            • +1

@Kool Gui 42069: I've played a couple of hours of Outlaws. Story seems decent, gameplay is fun enough. No need for hate or wild praise really, it's just a game.
Episodes 7-9? Well 7 was a near complete rip off of New Hope, but was at least kind of fun. 8 tried too hard to be different and threw out too much (though I liked it when I first watched it). 9 was just complete junk, tried to pander to the angry SW 'purists' and ended up making no one happy.
FWIW Rogue One is easily my fave of the 'new' Star Wars movies.

            • +2

@Kool Gui 42069: lol I know how ridiculous, 7-9 were absolute shit and 'Mary Sue' AKA Ray was a huge problem but not the major problem.

The movies were just shit, no excuses. The directors, the actors, the writers were all garbage.

As The Critical Drinker said in his review ' No one cares about these planks of wood'. It's like they hired the most wooden actors of all-time.

Ryan Johnson can piss off, ruined Luke and ruined the whole trilogy. No wonder he is left to rot doing shitty murder mysteries with Daniel Craig.

          • +1

@wishing well: The game is definitely not fine and it wasn't because the lead female character was ugly. It got 5.5/10 on Metacritic from 3,000 actual user ratings. This was typical Ubislop hiding behind the Star Wars franchise. Story must have been written by a 10 year old for other 10 year olds. It was advertised as an open world game but you were very limited to what you could actually do. Gunplay and stealth were weak and I never felt like an outlaw when I was playing it.

            • -4

@icarus255: The irony being that by describing the character as ugly you've revealed yourself to be one of the sad flogs to whom I referred.

              • +3

@wishing well: Just stating facts. Here's another fact: you simping for Ubislop isn't going to change the fact that this was a shit game.

                • -3

@icarus255: Yeah, simping for Trump is much better, right?

                  • +3

@dav3: Lol who said anything about Trump? 😂
I thought this post was about Star Wars Outlaws.
You people always want to turn everything political.

        • I started Outlaws and it seemed like a decent enough Star Wars story. It is however a Ubisoft game so its full of filler content that really bogs the game down. I feel like if I mostly skipped the side content it would be decent enough but I never played enough to make that call. I think I just didn't have a chance to play for a while and generally when that happens I don't continue so that's the reason I dropped it rather then completely disliking it.

        • It's a poorly made game by slop level unskilled content developers.

The game is not worth paying any amount for.

  • +1

You can always add a $5 game to get you over the $29 threshold too.

  • +2

That is a hell of a price for assassin's creed shadows

  • What is Outlaws like on PS5 vs PC performance-wise? Wondering whether to dip in again for $14 if it’s significantly better.

    • It looks a lot better if you have a capable PC, it is very RT heavy at higher settings. Not sure about performance.

    • +2

Given the complete lack of info on said PC's specs, it's a question no one can really answer

  • Valhalla $8.99 on Steam as well.

  • The next Steam Sale is in under two days, probably worth holding off till those prices get released in case you can grab it on a platform that's actually good.

    • +2

The steam sale prices will be the list price here without the extra $15 discount. That’s how Ubisoft does it (because they have to give steam 30%).

Plus, it launches Ubisoft connect anyway even if you buy through Steam.

God that website is a piece of shit. On both Firefox and (shudder) Edge it constantly refreshes away from whatever page you're on back to the front page. It took me 5 goes to exchange money for a game.

    • It is annoying as F%&^%.. every single time i go to buy avatar, it refreshes…. lost sale, oh well

    • Good lord I thought it was just me!

  • Is Avatar good to jump in now? How is the DLCs?

And should I buy the game now ($19) + DLC in the future or should I get the complete edition ($75)? Thanks.

    • +1

It's great but it hard crashes repeatedly for many people, including myself.
This makes it a risky purchase.

      • I heard bad reviews when it was released. Haven't they fixed it yet?

  • Bugger. I just bought Outlaws for the PS5 at around 40ish a few weeks ago! It's still sealed in it's cellophane.

  • these will probably hit game pass soon enough

  • To all the uplay haters i just bought mirage on uplay… Saw the steam sale but i own every single other ass creed game on uplay so figured i'd get mirage on that too. One day ill get around to finishing one of them. Avatar and Ass creed shadows are def worth the asking price too. About 40 hours into shadows and still enjoying it

  • Is the holiday code single use?
Or can I use it on multiple/different orders each over $29?

The info on the website dances around it but doesnt actually provide an answer.

If you are someone that has previously used the code, would you mind adding another game to cart to see if its reusable?

    • +1

You can use it on multiple orders. I bought Star Wars and Avatar in seperate transactions and got the discount on both.
