Puma Deviate Nitro 3 Mens Running Shoes Mint/Blue $124.99 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ $150 Spend) @ rebel

380

Cracking price for a solid speed trainer.

Please note, even thought it can handle different efforts/paces, this shoes are not ideal as a daily trainer.

They are the perfect shoes for someone looking for a faster shoe for an upcoming race or just someone getting into speed training/replacing their speed trainers.

It was below $100 during black friday @amazon

I think that was the Velocity Nitro 4 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/933893). This is a carbon-plated uptempo-trainer vs the VN4 which is a flexible, unplated daily-trainer.

      • Velocity Nitro is an amazing shoe. I've worn it for track work and big training runs, plus marathons – great all-rounder.

This plated shoe is more suited to competition days only.

  • Any good for walking ?

    • +3

This has a carbon-plate so it's pretty stiff and not that soft. Grip should be good though depending on what you want.

    • +9

It's not supposed to be a walking shoe, this is for running.

      • -2

I tend to buy running shoes for walking. I walk pretty fast and I hit the ground with my heel quite hard.

Plus, they're good for when I need to run to catch a train.

        • +4

Plated running shoes feel quite different from “normal” running shoes. They’re quite bouncy and don’t usually have much lateral support.

That’s fine for running on tarmac. But when I walk in them, it feels like I’m on a trampoline and constantly at risk of rolling my ankles.

          Slow down
          Bad Giraffe!

    • +14

I personally would never recommend any plated shoes for walking.

    • These, like most plated shoes, are not really designed primarily for walking. There are many much better suited shoes around for walking.

    • +1

it is actually very hard to walk in racing shoes, like you’ve got pogo sticks on the end of both shoes, not balanced, you must run and fast

    • +2

They're good for walking to the start line of your race.

  • +1

Great price for a big brand carbon plated trainer. I was very happy with the previous Deviate Nitro 2.

  • Great price. Are these any good for marathon distance?

    • +1

Yes, they've got enough cushioning for marathons, probably the best pick for it at this price point.

  • +3

I've been doing all my speedwork in Puma Deviate Nitro 2 and they're fantastic for that. The grip is amazing. They are very firm and stiff, so not good for easy runs.
If I didn't stock up in BF sales I'd be all over this offer.
    (great colour too).

  • +4

    Those shoes look mint!

    • +1

      yeah they are mint coloured…

  • Not bad $108 from china for the real version or $50 if you don't mind they're reps.

    • from where ?

      • Pinduoduo, Tmall, or 1688.

        • whats that? and links?

          • @prankster: Linking directly to these sites is difficult.

However, finding the products is easy just download the apps and upload an image of what you’re looking for.

For genuine products on Pinduoduo, look for the circular badge in the background on the purchase page

    • +1

I'd expect most reps to be decent quality these days, but would probably err on the side of caution when it comes to performance running shoes and such.
Stress your biomechanics, with peace of mind

      • +2

On pinduoduo you can get genuine products if you look for the badge.

Although, real shoes from china tend to be closer to Australian retail price.

Also the badge means if somethings fake then pinduoduo will pay you 10x the amount back.

Given Pinduoduo is a rapidly growing 100 billion dollar company $1000 is nothing for them.

That said I don't recommend reps unless you really like the design. In that case you can use orthotics or wear them just as.

        Note:
For those wondering reps just another word for counterfeit. Also you'll never be able to get a perfect rep since if they existed they would be sold as the real thing.

        • I'm not sure if the screenshot is just an example, but the shoes pictured are the Velocity Nitro 4, which are normally a lot cheaper than the Deviates.
You can actually buy them from Rebel at $107 currently.

          • @IgorRullez: Just an example.

Things on pinduoduo tend to be more expensive because of the certification.

Here's some cheaper Deviates it's just I can't vouch for them.

    • Heaps of fake running shoes from China

      • If they're certified on pinduoduo they're real.

But as they're certified, which they have to pay, they're closer to Australian prices.

If you're worried then Puma sells them for $110-$120 on pinduoduo. But, you're not limited to just these shoes.

You can't get them anymore real then that.

But like Australia buying from private sellers will be cheaper.

  • Awesome price! Pity rebel seem to be stocking less and less shoes in size 14

  • Waiting on shoes that can help me fly.

    • How do you know you can't fly already?

      • Tried with my havaiana thongs but pic fail

  • how does it stack up against adidas takumi sen?

    • I recently picked up Takumi Sen 11 and feel they're just a lower stack Adios Pro 4. Slightly more stability with less heel cushioning. Longest run I did in them have been a 22km steady run. The Deviate Nitro 3 would be closer to the Adios Pro 3/4 with the stack height and geared towards marathon distance from the reviews I've read/watched.

    • They are very different shoes, Takumi's are proper race shoes, they are more aggressive and snappy, but offer a lower durability. They are also tailored for shorter distances, most people probably wouldn't want to wear them over half-marathon distances.
The Deviates are a more versatile shoe, you can wear them at different efforts/paces, they are less agressive and way more durable compared to the Takumi's.

  • +1

    Great deal.

Just for reference, these are the go to for hyrox aspirants because they are considered to be a 'high stability' carbon plate shoe.

Having just run hyrox last weekend, I can attest to how good these shoes are.

  • Since these are plated, can this be used as a pair of court shoes?

    • You're better off getting a pair of court shoes than running shoes design for straight line speed.
