This or logitech mx master 4?

Just need it for my home office, not a gamer.

I'm sure this would be fine for office work, but I'd opt for the MX Master (or for me, an MX Vertical - stupid old wrists)

    • +1

      MX Master.

Or if you want to save money, Rapoo and other brands have similar mice. Keychron has a version too.

Alternatively the https://www.amazon.com.au/Logitech-Triathlon-Wireless-Mouse-… Logitech M720 is a great, budget version of the MX series. Still has multi-device, hyperscroll and a thumb button. Obviously not as premium and uses batteries vs rechargeable but they last forever so.. Probably a non issue.

I use the MX Master (3) for work & the G502X Plus for play. I have both on my desk at home and find that this is the way I use them most of the time.

    • I have master 3 and this. My hand grabs this first without me thinking. Gaming or office, no matter.

    • I have the MX Master 3S and the non-RGB version of the G502 X Lightspeed Wireless.
If you need to switch between devices or don't want a dongle, then go for the Master 4.
The MX Master 4 supports simultaneously Bluetooth connections for up to three devices, making it easy to switch between them without the need for a dongle. In contrast, the G502 X requires a dongle and doesn't support Bluetooth, so you can only connect to one device at a time.
If you're on a work-issued device, just make sure you’re allowed to install Logi Options+, otherwise, you only get a small percentage of what the Master 4 has to offer. If software installation is restricted, then the G502 X is the way to go since it has onboard memory.
If you do a lot of horizontal scrolling in your workflow, the thumb scroll wheel on the Master 4 is a lot smoother compared to the tilting scroll wheel on the G502X.
The polling rate of G502 X is at 1000Hz, making it feel less sluggish than the Master 4, which has a polling rate of 125Hz. However, this performance advantage comes at the cost of shorter battery life on the G502 X.
The G502 X has clicky switches, while the MX Master 4 has silent switches. Personally, the clicky switches don’t bother me, but they might be a distraction for some users.
The weight difference is very noticeable, if you lift your mouse often while navigating, that extra 50g difference on Master 3S/4 is far more significant than it seems on paper.
If you have small hands then both may not be comfortable, try the size and shape in-store to see which you prefer. Lastly, it is hard to get the Master 4 at a good price at the moment since it hasn’t been released for long. Unless you really want the extra button (default use: gesture) and haptic feedback, consider getting a Master 3S instead. For reference, I paid $8X for the Master 3S and $10X for the G502 X Lightspeed Wireless.

I thought this mouse was always around this price. Seen it quite often at $129.

    • Looks like it, on Amazon at least: https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0BCJVJ5FP

The mouse you've linked to is different from the one in this post.

The difference between the two mice (the one you've linked to) and the one from this post is the RGB. Hardware and functionality are the same minus the RGB.

        • The RGB light is so expensive. $150 for just a light

        • TIL there's a non plus wireless version!

Either way, after my G900, G903 (this was gifted to me), and G502 lightspeed og, all ending up with double clicks, I decided not to spend a tonne on gaming mice anymore..

I've got a G305 spare + a Rapoo VT1Kpro. I really don't see the need to spend over a hundo on a gaming mouse anymore!

…I will spend the money on an MX for work, though; as I'm literally using that the full week, always, for work hours, whereas gaming is a few hours here and there.

Yours link the price is for Wireless Lightspeed, not Wireless RGB ($299)!

        • -1

          Check the link maybe?

          • @Peices: It’s not the same. Scorptec is X Plus, JB is just the X

I’ve the X Plus at home as I bought it during Prime Day

        • X Plus = Wireless Lightspeed with RGB. The wireless version without RGB doesn’t have the Plus designation. The non RGB version was on sale for $129 at JB during black Friday.

  • I have this. Great mouse. A touch too light but good.

  • Have this mouse.. best mouse that I've ever owned. If it dies I'll buy another no question.

  • Good mouse, works good with Logitech Powerplay mat.
Clicking feel is not good as Razer but still acceptable.

  • +1

This is such a light mouse compared to the Master MX series and even the old M950 Performance MX.

Also keep in mind that this mouse was $126 from Scorptec in November 2024, and that came with a free G640 mouse deskpad.

  • Slightly cheaper here, maybe can try and price match at JB
