Cant get enough of Origins 🥹

    • Origins was incredible. Valhalla was also once you get around building your own village etc.

  • +2

I want Black Flag but it's still one of their more expensive ones even on sale!
Might have to keep attacking my backlog and pick it up later. It is often on sale at this price.

    • +1

Did they get rid of the base game and now they're only selling the Gold edition? Pretty cheeky way to keep the price high for one of their most popular games.

    • +1

It's the only one I want ugh

    • Rogue has the ship gameplay as well, its a little shorter in gameplay time though. I liked it enough.

    • +1

Theres a remake/remaster coming soon so could be worth holding off for a better price or a better game?

      • +2

Soon? It’s not even official yet . At least a year away

  • +2

    Waiting for black flag resync!

    • Didn't know this was potentially coming. Will save the $17

  • +2

Pretty sure you need a uplay launcher, so might as well buy them on uplay and save a few bucks

    • +4

True, but if you have a steam deck it’s easier to get it working if you own it on steam.

When you said "Syndicate" I thought you meant the original 1993 Bullfrog game. Oh well, at least there's Satellite Reign.

    • +3

Syndicate Plus is currently $2.29 on GOG if you need a fix.

AC Syndicate was a pretty jolly romp - lots of meaty biff.

    • +2

      Theme Hospital

    • Me too. Anyways i realised i have both Syndicate Plus and Syndicate Wars on GOG.

    • -1

      Love me some Bullfrog games.

Word of warning, Black Flag and the older games will prompt you to login to Ubisoft Connect every single launch. This is apparently by design for security reasons, and buying directly on Ubisoft Connect won't fix it either.

Makes playing them very painful on handhelds…

    • Can you crack them?

      • +1

Yeah but if you have to crack a game you own you may as well not purchase it in the first place.

  • Is Odyssey better than Origin? Dont understand why it is higher than games either side of it.

    • +5

Odyssey is my favourite of the modern RPG AC’s. Don’t know if that’s universally true, but i assume that’s why the pricing is different.

      • -4

Odyssey is 'newer' - hence the price difference.

        • +4

Valhalla is even newer than Odyssey and that's the same price as Origins.

The actual difference is that Odyssey is the last AC game to get such good reviews across the board (86% Very Positive on Steam.) Every AC game since then (Valhalla, Mirage, Shadows) has done noticeably worse in terms of general reviews. So it looks like they still feel able to charge a bit extra for Odyssey.

    • +2

I played Odyssey first and regretted it as Origins was a step down in most respects: world, story, characters, combat, itemisation, progression systems, etc. Probably wouldn't have noticed it nearly as much if playing the games chronologically. Origins was a fine game but I think I would've enjoyed it a lot more if played first.

    • +2

I found Origin dull enough that it was the last one I played. My wife said Odyssey was much better, but I'd given up by then.

    • +1

Odyssey is the best modern one IMO. Better than shadows, origins and valhalla

    • I found Origins to be the better game. Odyssey is bigger in literally every way. More loot, more islands, more quests, more checklists. I got 100% on both Origins and Odyssey and Origins to me felt like a more realised world with a natural flow to the exploration while Odyssey felt a little more ticking boxes off a list. May just be me though.

      • Go 100% on Valhalla and get back to me about size. Valhalla is enormous, moreso with add-ons.

    • Depends on which time period you like more. Origins is more fun, imo.

You won't be disappointed if you like history and walking around in ancient citites.

  • +1

If you don't mind ubisoft's launcher can combo games or buy e.g. valhalla complete edition and any $8.01 game and use code HOLIDAY - for example I added watch dogs legion and brought the price down to $14.99

  • I loved and enjoyed Odyssey. Should I get Valhalla? Same same, better, or will it disappoint?

    • +1

It's worse than Odyssey (which I found worse than Origins, but still good).
It's more disconnected than Odyssey was, and the world is far less interesting. It also leans even more heavily in to the mystical side of things which I wasn't a huge fan of.
It is a good looking game though, and if you like Open World collectathons (which I do) you'll find some enjoyment in it.

  • Just buy all three at those prices and play them to find your favourite.

  • Typical, I had been watching the price on Valhalla for a long time. Never went below $16-17. Black Friday Ubi had a discount code you could use ontop of sale items. Thought I got a great deal for the base game at $14, only for it to go cheaper a few weeks later and I could have bought the top version for the same price.
