I believe this is ATL when using the code. You can stack it with the Amex 6% cashback offer.
ShopBack is also offering 6% cashback, but I’m not sure whether it will work with the code.

Tempting, this or wait for Gen5 at $729?

    • +3

      Gen5 is much heavier.

      • I haven't used either of these (still have my v10) but wondering how does half a kg translate to much heavier ? i'm tossing up between the two

        • How big an area do you vacuum will determine that.
It is why we went with the V15 detect absolute instead. Well, and the price. At the time, which was a couple of hundred more than this and a bargain at the time.

As our first stick vac, highly impressed. The only thing I feel it could do with is a feature to keep the trigger turned on. It’s absence can get a bit fatiguing about the forty minute mark.

The only regret, and it is a small one, is that I got onto to that recent $999 qrevo curv deal and thus use the Dyson a lot less.

          • @entropysbane: Thanks. The more i read into them it seems the gen5 detect is not worth the price difference at all

    • +6

gen5 is soooo much heavier and uncomfortable. i went with the v15.

      • It's like half a kilo more??

    • +1

FYI I've got the Gen5 directly from messaged Dyson for $705

      • How'd you manage that? Seems an amazing deal.

        • +1

just directly via chat from Dyson website and they offered that price !

          • @khoabui1989: what exactly did you say?

            • +3

@xrailgun: Literally went through the Digital assistant chat, choosing the Gen5Tech and waited for it to connect you to to a actual person
Then straight away they replied with a few different offers

              Your order details
              SV23 Gen5detect Abs ANZ SPu/Ir/Pu
              Qty: 1
              Subtotal: $640.91

              GST: 64.09
              Total: $705.00

      • asked today, they said 757 and the 705 offer had ended. they also said that you can't stack a coupon code on top of that.

    Or wait for boxing day?

  • Thank you

How is the new V16 versus this?

    • Quick google suggests this may be better. V16 has more power, bigger dust bin, longer run time but issues with the floorhead leaving things behind

  • I have this. It’s a great vacuum. Annoyances are the constant need to hold the button for it to work. It acts as a pretty poor dust buster needed to buy a dedicated one for small nooks.

    • i don’t find holding down the button a problem at all, for small gaps you can use the crevice tool
If you really can’t stand holding the button just get a $5 button clip on ebay

      • +1

That's fandom - a thousand dollar vacuum cleaner shouldn't need any other bits to have it function like others.

      • The crevice tool does not have strong suction to pick up small things in tight to reach places. If you use boost mode it only runs for 5 minutes and it’s dead. All I’m saying is it’s a great vacuum, using it for floor only. Not as dust buster.

    Dang i paid $850 a year ago

  • +1

Hmmmm bugger…bought the V12 deal a month or so ago at $600.

Dyson has a 45 day change of mind return policy so you might be able to return it.

How to acess the amex cashback? Any1 have a link

    • Login to Amex app and click on “Offers”

      • It says no new offers tho?

        • same here, AMEX offer could be targeted

          • @CommandoGold: Hmm. I get bunch of offers when I click on “offers” tab. There are currently 77 offers but yes some could be targeted. I still think you should see some offers?

  • TopCashback is offering 8% aswell but I'm not sure if it will work with the promo code

    • +3

Mine tracked with ShopBack! Hopefully it will be honoured. Making it ~$599 stacking with Amex.

I just bought the Gen5Detect Absolute and the code worked too (THANKS OP!!). Paid $799

    Your order details

    Dyson Gen5detect™ Absolute (Purple/Iron/Purple)
    Availability: in stock
    Qty: 1
    Price (inc GST): $899.00
    Subtotal: $817.27
    Delivery: $0.00
    GST: $72.64
    Total (inc GST): $799.00
    Total savings:-$100.00

I chose the Gen5 because its newer, has HEPA filter that can be washed and doesnt need to be replaced, has a bigger battery, stronger boost mode and you dont need to keep having the button pressed for it to run (which is bloody annoying)

The HEPA filter alone is worth the $120 difference. The bigger battery and stronger motor is a good bonus.

Darn, I want this but my V7 is still going strong…….

    • +1

Same, I'm even extra rough with it but it just keeps on sucking

    • I was in the same position but with a V6. I recently got a third party higher capacity battery for it but the running time just seems to be crap. The V15 arrived yesterday and it is like night and day.

      • agreed, the contrast between a v7/v8 and a v15 is insane. They have come a long way in 10 years (v7 released in 2007)..

        • +1

Yeah nah…. V7 vacuums double storied carpeted house just fine, can’t ask more than that. I think I need a bigger house first.

      • How do you find the weight difference between the two?

        • About the same with the wand and motorhead attached. The wand is heavier on the V6 and lighter on the V15. The vacuum unit is smaller and lighter on the V6. So they cancel each other out. When actually vacuuming the floor the difference is negligible. I think the V15 might be a touch easier to steer.

If you are using the crevice tool without the wand the V15 is a touch heavier but after ten seconds I didn't notice it.

  • Has anyone tried price matching with Good Guys or JB Hi Fi? And would the 45 day return policy still apply or is that only through direct Dyson website?

  • Thanks, just copped one with the Amex cashback + Shopback!

  • +5

Shopback have upsized cashback 12% , would be nice if the rep can confirm it works with this code @gotyourback

    • Seconding this! @gotyourback please confirm 🥹

      • +1

Thirding! Will grab one too if it works @gotyourback

      exceptions -
Purchases made with Vouchers or Promo codes not featured on our platform.

      But worth a shot anyways.
i should have bought the Gen5 Complete for $829 last month. But i waited for Black Friday sales etc… Now it's sold out, and i have to wait for it to return.

    • +1

I guess i'll stick with my V10. Shopback needs a rep that's a little more active around here

    • I can chime in here. I bought this deal yesterday: $676.01 after using the $100 off promo, paid with AMEX for 6% cashback, and activated the 12% cashback with Shopback. I can confirm that I got an email this morning that it’s tracking with Shopback:

      Dyson $73.74
      Eligible Purchase Amount $614.55
      Cashback rate 12.0%

      • +1

Thanks, it will track but when it comes time to pay out they may decline due to the code being used. I’ve still had things payed out when using a code not listed on their website, but have also had some declined. Good luck

      • Cashback has reverted to $0. Cant be helped, was going to be a glitch bonus anyways, never expected it 😀

    • +1

Just a reference point, it didnt work. Reverted to $0 now 😀

  • Anyone know when this sale ends? If missing out on this one, when are they likely to have a similar one? Would it be a long wait?

    • +1

Not sure, im assuming the 4th Jan. I asked JB hifi for a deal and they did price match at $677 with Dyson.com.au . just got home now. full price is $1449 on Dyson's website = ~53% off while the V15 is listed at $897 on JB website for a discount of ~24% off. You can try your luck with Amex and Shopback but you won't know if you'll get allocated stock.

      • +1

Amex deal is over anyways, so no more 6% back.

Used Shopback and Amex offer up yesterday, and redemption emails came thru same day for $55.30 (might get lucky) and $40.56.

Should have purchased at 19% or 13% Shopback, but dithering costs $.

  • +1

Can negotiate a further $20 off via the chat to $656

    • Did you negotiate the price on the chat and then apply the coupon after?

      • They give you a link to checkout, but there's is no option to add any coupon codes. Also I don't know if cashback works when purchasing via this method.

        • So you just tell them about this coupon and ask if they can do any better?

          • @thestig: I told them I was an existing Dyson customer, had the old vac broke and wanted to upgrade, asked if they could do better than $676 with the promo code in OPs post. Chat said best price they can do is $666 if I buy now, better than nothing

      • Their first offer is $676; then you ask them if they can do a better deal and they shaved another $20 off.
        No coupon needed with this

  • Anyone know when this offer is going to expire? Thanks in advance

  • If it had the laser I would have been so tempted!

    • +1

It has the laser, checkout the pics!

      • Oh wow, I missed that. The laser is one hell of a great addition and the third-party add-ons aren't as good as having it built into the head. Thanks!

  • get a robo vac for this rate - omni e25 going for 880~ - wife has never been this happier :D

  • +1

price matched $676 with JB hifi and used the 30$ coupon + 5% off gift cards.. :)

    • Lowest they could do for me is $769. Did you do it online or in-store?

    • Was that using online chat and purchasing online?

      • This was in store in Melbourne (Craigieburn).. they didnt have any issues or didnt ask any questions.. I just showed my cart in Dyson with the coupon applied and price showing as $676 and they happily price matched.

  • The difference between the old V10 absolute and the new V15 is amazing. Sucks up small dust the V10 left behind and the laser (just a green light :) )actually works. Dont understand the PPM numbers, kept rising at the same level on the same spot or just sucking air in!

Overall, an effective and timely update.

  • price has gone up 😞
