Wait for Lenovo upsized cashback (13.2% @ Shopback next week) and buy there

    • Might not track due to lenovo coupon

    "It has a 250 cd/m2 image brightness"
Very sad, is this still where OLED monitors are at?

Unless you sit outside in the sun i think its fine

      • +2

lol, even the previous gen LG 42 OLED can do 800 nits for 10% highlights.

        • +1

These get a lot brighter for small highlights, they have HDR modes for that. The 250cdm is sustained full screen brightness.

          • @twister292: Fine, apples to apples:

            LG 42” 10% window HDR: 800 nits
            Lenovo 32” 10% window HDR: 400 nits.

            That’s still terrible.

            • @eggboi: The LG definitely has better brightness but the QD-OLED panels render text a lot better than the RWBG panels in the C4. The additional white sub-pixel helps with brightness, but when it's off, it becomes an RBG panel instead of RGB which OSs expect. Text rendering isn't great as a result, and the 42" size isn't enough to mask the fringing.

              • @twister292: That’s true re the pixels. I’ve never had an issue with text on my woled 42 tho. Only small objects with a lot of yellow. Eg emojis. Looks like chromatic aberration. Personally happy to trade that for the double brightness and extra screen size at same price point. And I dare say if you’re just staring at text and spreadsheets all day, you don’t need OLED to begin with!

    • Yes unless you have a Samsung model where you can go into the service menu and roid up the brightness, or a newer gen 1440p model

    • At this price you'll find a lot or reviews say you get the most out of it in a dark room.

      • +2

        that's what she said.

      • That's the unfortunate technical limitation of QD-OLED. They lack a polariser so off-axis reflections of bright light make blacks look purple.

        • We'll probably see dual layer OLED become more affordable soon, especially with Apple popularising it. Good peak brightness, nice deep blacks.

          • @AustriaBargain: Are you referring to the newer tandem OLED panels? They're not dual-layer, they just use a different substrate sequence

            • @twister292: You mean two OLED emission layers instead of one?

              • @AustriaBargain: Current LG WOLED panels have 2 blue substrates and the green and red diodes are on a single layer in between.
The newer tandem OLED moves the green and red layers into separate sub-layers.

There's still only 1 emissive panel overall. OLEDs can't work in a dual layer configuration like the mastering LCDs because they're not backlit.

  • 15W PD for usb-c at this price is crazy bad. Cant even charge your connected laptop>?

    • Depends on the laptop. But yes it's horribly low

    • That's Qi2 speeds isn't it?

  • Wait for Dell to lower their prices again and get one of their OLEDs with $200 Amex offer.

The S32225QC (90W PD) should be obtainable for circa $600 again if you wait.

Failing that you can probably pick up an Alienware for $750ish if some refurbs pop up again.

(Both prices include the $200 cashback)

  • waiting for a 1440p 32" oled

This or wait for OMEN 32 by HP Gaming Monitor 31.5" QD OLED UHD 240Hz HDR 400 $999?

  • Question - how does this stack up to the Samsung G95SD?

    • Same panel tech but text is definitely sharper on the 4K panels.

  • so no hdr?

  • +2

The picture on the screen looks weird how the legs of the person on the screen line up with the legs of the monitor…

  • Toys toys toys.
