[Switch] Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Royal Edition $8 @ Nintendo eShop

610

Missed out on the BigW deal for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on PS5, but I never actually played the first one. Checked the price out of curiosity and the eShop has it for $8. At that price, can’t really go wrong.

This is ATL, half the price of the previous ATL. Standard price is $79.

    Switch 2 upgrade?

How is it running on Switch 1?

      Answering my own question:

Simply put, the Switch cannot handle the immersiveness or excessive amounts of detail Kingdom Come: Deliverance requires in order to achieve its true potential. It can run, sure, and that is an impressive feat. At what cost, though? The framerate is far from stable, the graphics have been severely downgraded, and the input lag is absurd. It’s an excessive amount of compromises just to make sure this game can run on a portable with mobile hardware. Not to mention the long loading times.

Doing god's work mate, I'm going to see if I can find any word on the Switch 2 improving performance.

Less fps drops and sticks to the higher resolutions instead of dropping all the time with the DSR.. so looks a little better but could use with an actual update.

It’s a little rough on Switch 2. There’s always a few crashes during a play session and the game is still running on very low settings with an uneven frame cap, so it’s probably best to wait for a patch or Switch 2 edition of some sort if you have to play it on Switch. If you have another platform to play the game on it’s very affordable on other consoles and is often at a deep discount

I'm loving the game on switch 2. That being said it doesnt play or look very good. Looks like an Skyrim on Xbox 360. There are a decent amount of crashes, so save often (even though that's not easy to do in this game). There are lots of visual glitches and stuff. For awhile all the bushes would be rainbow until i got closer. Textures constantly look very bad and then snap into focus. A switch 2 upgrade would go a long way

Every time a Switch deal pops up and I'm tempted to buy the game, I'm reminded how poorly these big feat games run on Switch and just tell myself I'm better off buying it for my Xbox. Portability really has to be worth the technical tradeoff, but realistically how many games are you going to be playing for a long time to come on the go? A game like this you'll probably play once and finish and never play it again.

The port of this game to Switch is famously good/smooth

I can't do combat using joycons however. Have to use the Pro controller or similar which kills portability somewhat.

Have to remember not everyone is wealthy enough to own multiple gaming platforms. Also there are people who replay games and people who don't. This game is most definitely big and varied enough to warrant multiple playthroughs. It is also pretty demanding in terms of time so squeezing every minute of play you can get out in a day may be in the player's interest if they hope to see everything the game has to offer.

      • Get game sir mobile controller or 8bits do similar product, work flawlessly and portable

      • Yeah, fair enough. Seems like a deal if it works for your circumstances.

    For $8 can't go wrong

    • I'd pay someone $8 to not play this game again.

      • Is this port that bad?

        • I have no feedback on the port itself, the game is just so much what I want but the difficulty level is obscene, I love the world and everything but I very much add it into the category of Elden Ring etc, it's just not what I consider a fun time, which is fine it's just not for me but many people love it, the effort/reward level was just way out for me. I game to have fun, when I can. I don't want to play hard games lol.

          • @itsHughesy: I loved the game. Not sure about port to switch

@bargainhunter-27: Oh man I wish I could have loved it, the world is fantastic and the effort that went into it.. I just need an extra-extra-extra easy difficulty level for me to be able to play it and enjoy it.. I play games to relax/unwind and feel like a hero.. so I play everything on easy, this juice just wasn't worth the squeeze for me but I'm so jealous of people that loved it like you.
