    Is the TCL c7k better?

    • +3

Hisense u6qau is not better than TCL c7k

C7k is 144 hz I think and on paper 2600nits brightness and another thing is google tv vs vidaa os

You should compare this u6q with TCL c6k which is similar specs as this, and was 699 on costco black friday 😢 missed that. Anyway I think better to compare TCL C7K with Hisense U7QAU instead.

Yes, it isn't even close the TCL C7K is much better.

Also, make sure not to confuse it with TCL P7K which is significantly worse TV.

      • What's wrong with the P7K it's quite a bit cheaper so I was going to buy for my parent

        • Looking at it in store, I personally thought its image looked poor overall.

If you've seen it in store and liked it, great go for it everyone is gonna have different opinions.

If you haven't, I would go in store and look at its image before deciding (Hopefully they set up some SDR content and not the 4k stuff that makes every TV look good).

            @BarginGrabber: Exactly this.

TVs are never set up the same. Look at the specs, not what some potato decided to put on it, and set up.

The P7K will look magnificent in a lightly lit room direct in front with the brightness and contrast up, with the backlight set low.

But have a look at it from the sides and you can barely tell it's even turned on. Mini LED is heaps better for viewing from a side angle.

If you have a darkish room and the TV sits directly in front of a couch, the P7K will work well.

        • It’s fine for old folks. Just get what’s cheap unless they want high video quality

        • I got a p7k last week and its great. Check out the recent sale posts for that model andnyou will find loads of people saying how its a good tv. I have no idea what these guys are talking about as i have mine setup in a bright room and its fine from most angles. I havnt checked from really wide angles yet because who in the hell watches a tv from the side like that, its a pointless thing to check.

          • +1

@speedyjonzalas: Some lounges come up to the side.
You lose contrast as soon as you move from dead in front of a VA panel (any brand).

So if you have a horseshoe couch setup, the people on the sides will miss detai. Ie. Watching the Game of thrones final….no hope.

When in store, look down the line of TVs. You will see the VA's - ie. P7K looks almost completely black.

But totally agree. 90% of people have it straight in front and is a perfectly good TV for that use case.

            • @tunzafun001: That game of thrones finale was hilarious, i forgot all about that! So much build up and then being able to see absoltuely nothing!

  • So what makes the Hisense mini led a cheaper choice?
    The Vidaa OS awful?

    • Agree, purchaed google chromecast and happy client

      • i already have a google chromecast with google tv. But the thing is I dont want to be using a low storage device on top of a high spend tv.

and google chromecast dont think it can do more than 4K@60hz for higher end tv like U7QAU or TCL C7K C8k etc

        • Can they record FTA?

          • @tunzafun001: google chromecast with google tv ?

not sure honestly, but they barely got any storage to store hd content LoL

          • @tunzafun001: No. This is a streaming device not a pvr

  • I have 75U9HAU. Would this be considered as upgrading?

  • But you could buy 2 of these for the price of the TCL. Is it that much better?

  • I like my Hisense TV, but it gradually burned the Hisense Smart TV logo into our screen that always displays when you turn it on. Is this going to have the same problem?

    • maybe that was an OLED TV? Screen burned in is the major reason I try to avoid OLED TV or PC monitor. Not like smartphones you replace them every 2 years or so, TV or PC screens will easily last 5-10 years.

QLED or Mini LED don't usually have screen burn problem.

      • Yes. It's a Hisense 55PX OLED. Cheers.

  • Vidaa os sucks. Otherwise good deal
