Saw this on the website and at that price thought I would give it a go. There are lots of books Kindle unlimited doesn’t apply to.

I’m not sure if it is only Prime members or everyone. I don’t know the expiry date on the deal.

This might be targeted to Prime members already logged in.

    Targeted

    • Targeted to Prime members? This was on the website not an email.

      • I see it in Facebook etc. But when I try and subscribe it shows full price. I’m a prime member had plenty of discounted unlimited before but not this time.

This is how they get you. No one finishes a book in 3 months.

True. I bought Steve Waugh's book in 2005 and I'm still on chapter 2.

I started Max Walker's How to Hypnotise Chooks in 1997 and I've still got 40 pages to go

    • I'm still trying to finish reading Windows XP for dummies

I have a tipping point. I’ve got a bunch of books I’m part way through but once I’m hooked the book is read in a couple of days and nothing else gets done.

    • Fortunately for authors, some of us enjoy reading. I read three per month and think the normal prescription price is bad value. A mate reads one or more per week and subscribes.

      • I wouldn’t do it at the normal subscription price because we have neighbourhood free libraries around us and our local Op shops have stacks of books at $3 each.

  • How many books can you read in one month?

I’m a tad hit and miss but I could easily average a couple a week on this deal.

I’ve just downloaded “The subtle art of not giving a (profanity)”. I’ve read good reviews about it.

      • I should read more books, instead of mainly reading essays on the web.

Read what makes you happy. May I suggest you get into Terry Pratchett books. There are 40 plus books in the Disc World Series and we still lost him way too young.

I post mine to Goodreads - I read 19 books last year - a few missed, so prob close to 2 per month average
      My friends read more
FYI about 10 of those were free on Unlimited - some free on Library app - and a couple from Audible and the high seas

I have cancelled unlimited atm so I can read some paper books I got as gifts
Will re-join next time I see one of these 3 month deals

      • Good to know. I use GoodReads to pick the popular ones to read.

    received offer..via Prime membership

  • +3

Its a good offer but not in my calibre of value

    • +1

I see what you did there. 🙂

  • At $0.99 its a good offer particularly if you have some books on kindle unlimited you want to try or binge read. Unfortunately trying to find decent books on KU is not easy, as the search function is pretty limited and there are a lot of books that are the equivalent of AI slop - either bad or “ok but nothing special”. I dont know who keeps on rating some of the books as five stars, but a lot of them are really ordinary and not worth my time reading.

  • I was tempted by this for my 80 y/o dad. He can’t physically handle books but can manage an iPad or reader. Sounds like the subscription may not be the best value though.

Maybe a question for the forum, but what do you recommend?

Are you an Amazon Prime subscriber? You need that for this deal.

Personally I would sign him up to the local library because you can download ebooks from there for free. Have a look at what is available. They also do audiobooks if they work better for him.

  • Worked for me thanks OP, kids will be happy to have another 3 months, last deal just expired.

  • There's also Prime reading for Prime members.
    * Free
    * No return date (limit is by number of books, not date)
