Help Me Beta Test My Alarm App for Android

Hi - I wrote an Android app, but to get it on the Google Play Store I need to recruit some people to test the app for 14 days.

If you'd like to join, please pm me your email address that you use on the Play store. (You don't need to provide any personal details to use the app).

PS. to receive the pro features, you'll just pretend to make an in-app purchase. The card will make it clear it's just a test purchase and nothing will be charged.

  • I hope more effort was put into developing the app than this AI slop post

    • You seem to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed, try a progressive cascade alarm app to fix that !!!

    • ha yeh, that's fair. i dunno, some people like glitzy details. personally the main thing is that it's an alarm app.

  • Free Pro Access During Testing!

Seems a bit stingy to me. I'd think continuing pro access, at least for an extended time, is more appropriate.

    • It would also incentivise users to provide meaningful feedback since they get to keep using the product

      • Yeh fair enough, I can give you pro. I don't expect anyone would actually pay for it anyway.

  • My phone comes with an alarm clock function. Why should I download your special app?

    • Don't, problem solved.

      • You might consider hiring a better sales team. "Don't use my app" isn't the best marketing I've seen.

        • Not that fussed if you do or don't. If it's useful to you then join.

Ps. To answer your original question, all the features are listed in the original post.

  • Yeah, you lost me as soon as you posted AI slop, so I can only assume you "kit bashed/vibe coded" this "app" from AI slop as well…

It isnt "coding" if you just say; "Hey AI, give me some code for an android app alarm clock… and can you add in the ability of it to spy on users and add in LOTS of potential for advertising banners… Oh oh, and a paid 'premium' upgrade that I will retract in 12 months for a 'Pro' version, that will all still have ads… cheers, homie!!"

    • There aren't any ads but thanks for the comment.

  • If i had a reason to get up each day, id use your alarm

    • Wake up for the bargains

  • Wow, congrats. I wish I was even had a little bit of your smarts & follow-through!

  • Sounds like a great idea โ€” I'd love to give it a go. PM incoming.

  • I'm an apple user, otherwise I'd be in.

    Sounds great.

  • Hooray - thanks for everyone who reached out. I've hit production.

You should be able to download the app here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cascade.caโ€ฆ

    Give it a try!

  • How do people with de-googled phones and no Google Play store get access?

    • Unfortunately iOS doesn't like anyone using the non-native alarm app.

Edit: oh you mean Androids without google services. Um, dunno. I haven't looked into publishing on any other app stores. What's good? I've never really used any outside of Amazon.

      • I'm not sure on the technicals but Aurora or F-droid seem popular, or you could just post the APK file on Git hub?

        • I could but here I am trying to demonstrate to Google a testing process (they monitor it). They require a bunch of users to test for 14 days and then they'll consider letting you join the Play Store.

  • What is the cascade system? I'm struggling to see why someone would want to use your app over the system alarm.

    • Thanks for asking.

Essentially it's for people who want to wake up earlier.

If you currently wake up at 8, but want to get up at 6, it will drop the alarm time each day by a pre-defined amount.

It also has challenges which make it hard to turn off the alarm unless you engage your brain. Eg, answering a maths challenge.

Personally I am not a morning person (but want to be) so not having a snooze and gradually getting closer to my goal is easier than attempting to make big changes all at once.

      • Now why couldn't you just tell me that?

  • Hey OP, I like the option of wake up challenges to prevent snoozing.

    • If you're on Android, send me a PM.
