  • Does PowerShop add any additional promo?

Also, can we schedule the transfer if we still have to serve a minimum time with current provider?

    • PS may credit extra up to $200 depends on location.

      And no, you cannot schedule.

      • How about 'moving' option

        • You can try and report back.

        • You can, that is Econnex's obsecure way of saying schedule.

        • I believe moving options will incur the disconnection fee?

  • I wouldn't mind changing back to Powershop from AGL but although I signed up late November my usage started 3 December and I have to stay 30 days to get the GC. When does the 30 days start and, as above, can we book a future date for the switch?

    • Plans not coming up for me…

    • I'm pretty sure it starts when your elec is connected by agl. Which means you might invalidate your $250 gc if you swap before Jan 2.

Though I haven't personally tested out whether you can book a future date for the switch. Also might wanna double check into whether you would actually need to be a new powershop member (haven't had account within last 12 months?)

  • Nice! Got sick of engie's demand usage charges. I've been with them >2 months and haven't had a gas bill though… Will I get the GC for the engie gas connection if I switch today?

    • that funny , only been with Engie 3 months and last month saw a extra demand usage charge , dont even know what it is .

  • Does it apply to new customers only? Switched to AGL but was with PowerShop previously.

    • From the terms and conditions

This offer is available to new customers only. Existing customers of AGL, ActewAGL, ENGIE and EnergyAustralia are also eligible, provided they meet all other offer requirements. A ‘new customer’ is a customer who has not been with the same retailer in the past 12 months.

      • Thanks. Unfortunate for me since it's been <12 months but good for those who haven't been with PowerShop recently.

      • I originally read this as new customer being one who has not been with Powershop in the past 12 months. But is it possible the T&C actually implies only current Powershop customers are ineligible (as they would otherwise be switching to the same retailer through this offer)?

  • Shame couldn’t get their ev night or free 3hr plan to show up on Econnex website. Their normal plan just doesn’t seem like it’s worth it

    • Can't you switch plans once the account becomes active?

  • From SA.will i get to keep my 44c feed in tariff that i still get from my old goverment solar scheme that i currently get?thanks

      • Thanks

      • The FITs for my NSW Endeavour connection on Powershop's EV plans are 0.5c (yes, half a cent) - and something like $1.20 supply charge with 50c+/kw usage in peak.

So decent if you're not planning on any of your excess solar to the grid (as you can charge your battery at 5c from midnight to 4am (assuming they don't track that it has to go to the EV specifically)

      • @peatetc
You are completely wrong. You shouldn't post incorrect information.

    • From SA.will i get to keep my 44c feed in tariff that i still get from my old goverment solar scheme that i currently get?thanks

Yes, it's guaranteed till 2028 regardless of provider.

    • 2 different answers,will ask ecconexx then ,

      • In SA, I've swapped providers several times including AGL, OVO and Powershop and kept the 44 cent FIT with all of them.

      • @ peaceboy

You most definitely are entitled to your SA govt "distributor feed in tariff" regardless of the provider.

You are correct that there are 2 different answers…. people (eg peetabootawhatever) shouldn't give answers about stuff they don't know.

I've changed various times and got the SA 44c govt FIT. I did have a battle with the buffoons at Engie (formerly simply energy) , who have no operational staff in australia, but I eventually got paid after opening an energy ombudsman's case. Engie's incompetence at various calculation tasks was spectactular…. but eventually I was satisfied. (If fawlty towers is a bit soft core for you, , and wish to have some more perplexing first hand experiences I do suggest you sign up with engie)

Here is an excerpt of the most relevant of more than 20 emails with engie…. I can't include the hours of phone time. I haven't included the plethora of "offers" that they offered as alternatives which would have cheated me, before final resolution.

        Hi xxxxx

        That's great news!

I'm delighted that Engie now realises that what I have said all along in those hours of phone conversations and email interactions is correct.

I do hope that any further South Australians who receive the SA government distributor feed in tariff, and chose to switch to Engie as their electricity supplier don't have to go through the same nightmare…. and that Engie call centre staff don't have to go through it all again either!

I look forward to an accurate bill in due course.

        Kind regards

        xxxx

        Dear xxxx

        Ombudsman Case Number: 25060612

Thank you for your response dated 6 July and 8 July 2025.

Regarding your concern, I’ve reviewed the amended bill and noted that the total feed-in credit currently reflects $0.055. However, based on the Distributor’s response (attached), the applicable rate should be 44c/kWh. Additionally, as outlined in the copy of your current plan (also attached), the feed-in structure includes $0.110000/kWh for the first 8 kWh per day and $0.040000/kWh for any remaining usage.

I’ve now escalated this to the Billing team for further review to ensure the correct total credit is applied and an accurate bill is issued.

    • @ peaceboy

If you qualify for the sa gov FIT of 44c/KWh, you are entitled to it whether you switch provider or not.

      • thanks the great response, signed up,one last question,do i get the powershop sign up bonus as well?its only been last few yrs ive been changing providers for everything from phone,to internet and more depending on whose the cheapest, amazes me how people are too stubborn/lazy or whatever to change to save money, powershops only a fraction more than what i was paying with agl, thanks again heaps for your help and have a great new year

        • The 44c FIT doesn't affect any other part of a signup offer.

  • This offer is available to new customers only. Existing customers of AGL, ActewAGL, ENGIE and EnergyAustralia are also eligible, provided they meet all other offer requirements. A ‘new customer’ is a customer who has not been with the same retailer in the past 12 months.

Same retailer? Meaning any of the listed retailers in the exclusions? Or same as in Powershop?

  • Not available Australia wide. Title need to be modified. Currently available in NSW, SA, VIC

    • Available in parts of Queensland.

      • Also seems that if anyone in your household uses a medical device for life support that requires elec/gas then you are persona non grata.
In my case if you choose YES for that question then no plan is available, but change it to NO then the plans are shown.

Would think it would fall into discrimination against people with a disability. Also it's really information that needs to be passed on to the elec/gas wholesale provider for their records, in this case Powerhouse being a retail provider only needs to do a one off piece of information collection and forward it on.

  • Sold their soul to Shell for that sweet sweet black gold money

The only thing green for Powershop is those dollar bills y'all

  • how this compare to redenergy?

  • During last similar deal, completed the switch. No confirmation from Econnex about card. It needs to blindly wait for 3-4 months. What is card not received? There is no tracking, will someone look after missing reward after 4 months of wait ?

    • I've done this a few times, one time I didn't get the card after 4 months, I called them and they sent it.

    • If you don't get it after 120-130 days, just reach out to their support.

      • You had any proof of the offer when you switched ? Ideally there should have been some email if someone completes registration with the offer

        • Take a screenshot or a video. Or in this case, there's the ozbargain post by an actual econnex employee

      • What if you have churned our prior?

    • I signed up using their last deal, the gift card randomly showed up after 3 months, was a nice surprise as i had forgotten about it haha.

    • Someone mentioned in a previous deal it was sent to their junk mail and expired (i think they have to activate within 30 days). Didn't get replaced.

  • does this apply if someone is reconnecting gas and electricity back to a property after returning from overseas? or only switching active services?

  • Anyone got the bonus for 15/sep one?

    • Yes, I received mine last week. No notice, just popped up in email. Good xmas surprise!

      • Yep no notice as well, was sent late at night. Woke up with 2 gift cards.

But was with Powershop earlier this year, will wait for the next promo.

      • What email address did it come from? I want to whitelist it so it doesn't come up in spam

    • what about 15/10 - Anyone got the master card yet?

  • $200 in credits with AGL online. is it good offer?
edit: called agl they offer $150 for elec and $150 for gas and free Netflix (with ads)

    • $300 from eConnex and another $300 from AGL. But Netflix with ads? No deal.

    • When I was looking at AGL, there was an Netflix offer and a non-Netflix offer. Only difference between the two plans was that the supply charge for the month was an extra $30 or so for the Netflix offer - so not exactly free…

  • Using the deal link, I searched my postcode in metro Sydney for Gas only and it said no deals. At least for my postcode, it seems the deal is only available if you switch both electricity + gas.

Skipping this one as I still got credits with Engie from the September switch + gift cards just delivered a week ago, epic deal.

  • Thank you OP - nice deal.

  • Is this ontop of the credit from powershop?

  • do these stack with $200 topcashback or $80 shopback promos ?

$200 topcashback + this promo ~$300 + powershop's own $200 credit would likely be a half decent offering? (assuming both elec/gas churned)

    • Where do you seee Powershop credit?

I tried the Econnex, put my address and whilst it came up with just the 1 powershop plan, there wasn’t any sign up credit which I was hoping for so at least this covers for 2 months then you get the gift card

    • No, this will not stack with either Top Cashback or Shopback promos as you must sign up with eConnex via the specific link provided.

But this promo will stack with any Powershop offers shown

  • Whether the 30-day requirement is counted separately for electricity and gas?

Specifically, if electricity reaches the 30-day mark earlier, are we able to switch the electricity service at that point, even if the gas service has not yet reached its own 30 days?

  • Switched during the June promo and just realised I never got the voucher. Following up with them now before I switch again.

  • Can a new customer be another family member or is it tied to the address?

Asking for a friend tied up in 30 year old Camry’s boot eating pineapple pizza.

    • Interested in this. Wondering if I sign up using my partners name at the same address - does that make me a new customer?

    • Yes, different name at same address works. Doesn’t even need to live there - just needs to be able to provide verifiable ID online (eg. DL number).

  • Has any one manage to get the gift card working , I got the Karta Rewards email , download app and sign in with phone number + 2fa code but still say no gift card. It such a strange way to get gift card.

    • Took a day for mine to appear after getting the app

    • Did you click the link you received via sms?
After clicking the email link you receive an sms. After clicking the sms link it loads in the karta app straight away. Then add to google pay and spend

  • @Manyo, what if I've been a Powershop customer within the previous 12 months, but am moving to a new address?

Also, the Econnex link only shows up one available Powershop plan. What if I sign up to that plan, but then call Powershop and change to a different plan?

Will both scenarios still qualify for the giftcard?

  • Fairly sure I know the answer but just want to check - last time I did this I signed up for a gas plan but it didn't swap over for 2 months. That was for a minimum 45 days deal. Does that mean I need to stay with the company for 45 days from when it connected 2 months later, or when I signed up?

    • I signed up for gas on the September offer and the request was confirmed immediately but the actual connection only occurred on 3 December but I still received the gift card for gas last week (being a customer for 3 weeks) so I'm free to churn my gas.

Still, if I hadn't received it, I would have expected nothing if I churned before the 45 days was up (estimated mid Jan 26 by conditions of the deal)

  • :D

  • A ‘new customer’ is a customer who has not been with the same retailer in the past 12 months.

is this the new term compared to previous econnex deals? As I was with powershop in the past 12 months…do not want to risk it

    • It is new yes, I believe they brought it in last deal.

  • Does anyone know if there’s a limit to doing these ports through econnex?
I did a 30 day one recently but I’m pretty sure I’ve passed the 30 days, I’ve heard people mention there’s a limit but that might’ve been through SB CR with their econnex deals in the past although I’ve never had an issue doing them through the rewards sites.
With the numbers they are getting through here I doubt they want the bad PR of not paying people because of fine print?
If anyone knows though please let me know? Tx so much

  • I used the promo link to sign up as it says. Went through the sign up process and upcoming connection has been confirmed, nowhere during the process and the confirmation email did it say anything about the gift voucher, do I just wait 120 days and hopefully it comes?

    • Pretty much. Its very much a leap of faith and you kinda have to keep things tracked on your side to make sure you dont switch before the exit period and you get your gift cards.

  • Sweet deal

  • Would this stack with a referral bonus?

  • Loyalty tax

  • Good timing, just got slapped by a bill from AGL that finally breached my comfort zone and their website is completely broken and not letting me even view their other plans, time to change the provider. Thanks.

  • Moved from Agl to this offer.

    Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

  • Gee, this really inspires confidence

"You (“Customer”) may receive a $175 Prepaid Visa eGift Card (“the Card”)"

    • By the number of stories we hear about gift cards not being sent and having to chase up, at least they’re being honest with us.

    • Learn 2 read

  • Can't do gas in SA

  • In accordance with our terms and conditions, we have conducted a credit assessment prior to creating an Electricity Account for you.

As you have not met our credit criteria, unfortunately we're not able to complete your transfer and will be cancelling your application.

    lol

  • Moved from Energy Australia - there are 3 things I def don't like about Powershop

1 - They wouldn't let me use the password I wanted - apparently I use it as a password on OTHER ACCOUNTS!. HTF do they know this?? I certainly didn't allow Powershop access to my computer to check!

2 - the rates are terrible - I try & use as much "shoulder" power as I can.
    Powershop - Time of Use Peak Mon - Sun: 6am - 10am and 4pm - 12am cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) 40.23
Shoulder Mon - Sun: 10am - 4pm cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) 31.35
Off Peak All other times cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) 22.99
Daily Supply Charge - cents per day 147.44

    EA - Peak Usage: 61.6000 cents/kWh
Other rates such as Off Peak / Dedicated Circuit usage: 33.0000 cents/kWh
    Shoulder usage: 18.1500 cents/kWh
Daily supply charge: $1.3200 per day

3 - I had to give them my CC details to sign up. No options for BPay etc. I gave them Debit card details I don't normally use & keep at $0 balance. But I still hate with a passion that any company has my CC details on file.

I'll be switching suppliers as soon as I receive my gift card.

    • They wouldn't let me use the password I wanted - apparently I use it as a password on OTHER ACCOUNTS!. HTF do they know this?? I certainly didn't allow Powershop access to my computer to check!

Plenty of services offer this, like via haveiveenpowned APIs or similar, indentifying commonly reused passwords.
      Eg https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords

Powershop isn't accessing your computer, and reusing passwords is an incredibly bad practice.

      • Thanks for the FYI regarding the passwords website.
It seems the multiple passwords I cycle through aren't as unique as I thought they were.
        Thanks again.

  • God this is painful, I don't think I'll ever be using econnex again. Decided to give this one a try, they entered the wrong address when signing me up with Powershop, NMI was wrong and Powershop cancelled the application.

I've been stuck inbetween econnex and Powershop support phone calls for well over an hour total now.

What even is the point of a broker if they can't talk with each other to fix their own mistake? Ehhh

  • Anyone received their gift cards from this deal?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/924135

I assume they were sent on 24/12/2025?

I manage a few properties (family) and it's starting to get confusing lol.

  • Signed up on 30th/31st Dec, so has been over a month

Can we churn to another company yet or best to stay until the gift card is issued?

    • Considering it is over 1 month and first bill covering over 30 days already generated, I think it is safe to churn.

I churned to origin through CBA offer yesterday.

      • Cool, hopefully we will get issued GCs soon
