  There pretty good units for the money. I bought the 3 pack. Works fine. All the options are hidden behind a subscription but for basic recording and user experience I was happy. $75 for 3 wireless cameras.

      That $75 - 3 units camera system worked well until the free subscription ended. Then could not view the clips remotely. Not sure what I am missing. The USB is connected and seems to be storing but the clips were not available anymore.

        They set a limit on how long you can keep the clips for - 3 months max which is meh but not too bad.

  Was just looking into this for some cheap outdoor cameras incase they get stolen, got the doorbell, sync module and 3 cameras for $100 dollars. Supposedly if you buy the sync module 2 for around $50 dollars (waiting for sale) you can record to local storage and this combines well with Homebridge running on my Synology NAS to work with Apple Homekit. That means no subscriptions needed and local secure storage. Worth a punt I think… thanks again!

  If the sync 2 acted as a ringer (eg when internet is offline), it’d be good, otherwise i seems rather useless.

      According to the thread yes. For your issues highlighted above, apparently unpairing/unpairing the hub can fix this issue. I don't have one personally. I would personally spend a bit more and get the TP-Link Unit which has less features paywalled.

      This particular package comes with Sync Module Core, which does NOT let you store to a USB storage device.

      If you get Sync Module 2 (or you bought Outdoor 4 camera packs with that included) then without subscription, motion event clips can still be viewed remotely. Non-motion event live view, no (subscription required). However, it is slower without subscription (at least via app). Think of it as you still need to access the data via cloud so there is an extra overhead to get the data from USB storage to cloud before reaching your mobile device / app. You can disconnect the USB storage and put it in a PC, but the files are not named in an easy to understand way.

      When you have subscription, the clips are stored in cloud first. Every day (probably some time early in the morning), there is a sync to Sync Mobile 2 (i.e. it downloads those clips and store locally).

  Sync Module Core doesn't support local storage. Every battery operated Blink device require a sync module. It is designed to reduce battery usage (sync module needs to be powered by a power adapter).

  For those interested also, was looking at packs that included the Sync 2 Module for local storage. They are offering $59 dollars for next hour, Outdoor 4 camera, Sync 2 Module and Floodlight Kit. Not bad considering that the sync 2 module is $59 dollars by itself at the moment. Have picked one up to go with the doorbell and 3 Outdoor 4 cameras which was $107 dollars. Outside completely covered for less than $200 dollars and cheap enough to replace if someone damages them.
